Car: not necessary
We are approximately 35 minutes away from the Gunnison regional airport. You can rent a car in Gunnison or catch a shuttle to Crested Butte. The ski area is 3 miles from the town of CB, and 2-3 mins from our home. Ask anyone who's visited Crested Butte: It's truly one of the last pristine and authentic mountain towns of the Old West, having wisely eluded the crowds, commercialism and unpleasant influences that characterize some of the larger resorts in Colorado and other western states.. Our home sits high on the hillside directly across from the ski area itself, allowing unobstructed views of the iconic Mt. Crested Butte, the ski slopes, the village below, and the beautiful surrounding mountains and valleys. If you bring or rent a car, you can be anywhere in the CB area in minutes. And, a free shuttle system connecting Mt CB where our home is (and the ski area) to the town of CB conveniently runs every few minutes. The shuttle runs from our townhome to the base area/slopes every few minutes as well. Hop on and you're slope-side in a flash. Or, just walk out our front door and across a bridge that crosses the main road and you're at the lifts in no time!
Other Activities: Hiking, mountain biking, wildflowers, fall colors, river rafting, horseback riding, scenic drives, 4-wheel touring, free summer music concerts offered in the Town and in Mt. CB. Crested Butte is truly an all season outdoor paradise. Five valleys open up from the area, providing access to hiking and biking trails, cross country skiing, and limitless rivers & lakes for fishing. The wildflowers in July are breathtaking. CB is also renowned for its golf course and access to some of the best rivers in Colorado for fishing. Want more culture? Come for our numerous summer festivals: The town’s famous 4th of July Parade & fireworks display; Crested Butte Wildflower Festival in July; Bluegrass in Paradise; Crested Butte Wine & Food Festival; a fabulously diverse Arts Festival in August; Food and Wine festival, CB Music and Dance festival; the Fall Film Festival; and top it off with the zany Vinotok celebration in late September, which really does defy explanation! There are many more, too numerous to list.
Golf: Surrounded by majestic mountains, right at the base of Mt. Crested Butte, The Club at Crested Butte features the only golf course in town -- a scenic Robert Trent Jones II, 18 hole designed course that’s rated one of the top golf courses in America and rated the “Best Mountain Golf Course” in Colorado and “one of the finest golf courses in the mountains, if not the entire country,' by Mountain Golf Magazine, This 18-hole Championship Course offers 7,200 yards of superb golf. It has a slope rating of 129 and a 72.6 USGA rating. The course features 4 sets of tees for different skill levels. Ideal setting for your golf instruction and lessons. Tennis and swimming pool on site. Call 970.349.6127 or email: gm@clubatcrestedbutte.com. The golf course is about a 10 minute drive from our property.
Ski: We are directly across the street from the ski area. You can see most lifts from our windows. Walk out our front door and stroll down a small connecting road and bridge and you're at the slopes in less time than it takes to fry an egg. Or, take the free shuttle to the ski area which runs every 15 minutes from our building and in a blink of an eye you're there. We have a 6-person ski locker and boot warmer to store all your gear. Talk about convenient! Sixteen lifts shuttle skiers and riders around 1,176 acres of terrain for all abilities and views in all directions. Overcrowding is simply unheard of and well-placed lifts make it one of the most accessible big mountains in Colorado. Crested Butte offers all the amenities you'd expect at a large ski resort in an intimate, relaxed setting. Ski school and rentals are available in the base area with packages to suit all ages and abilities. Over a half-dozen on-mountain restaurants and bars are ready to serve all types, while shoppers can easily spend hours among the dozens of base-village stores. Crested Butte skiing is open from late November through early April. For Cross-Country skiing, go to the Crested Butte Nordic Center: www.cbnordic.org; call: (970) 349-1707. Email or call us for anything you're interested in which may not be listed here--we're here to help make your vacation unforgettable!
