We just bought our beautiful ocean view property, 900 feet from the beach (just a block away) in 2010. We spent the first nine months using the property ourselves, and we love the place. It is very family friendly, but is also great for a group of friends who want to spend time together. Folks have used it for college weekends, wedding groups, etc.
We live on a quiet street with parking for four cars. The area is very safe and friendly, and we really enjoy the sense of community there. Walking to the beach takes less than five minutes and the beach is clean and wide and gorgeous. It has a very long gradual slope to deeper water, which is ideal for little ones.
We have an open floor plan upstairs. Downstairs, we have four bedrooms, three baths, a den with sleeper sofa. Three of the bedrooms have queen sized beds, and the kids room has a bunk bed with a single bed on top and a double bed on the bottom. There is also an additional single mattress under the bottom bunk.
House Amenities: We also have a play yard which could serve as bed for a baby or toddler.
The kitchen is stocked with the basics - microwave, coffee pot, dishwasher, toaster, blender, waffle iron, ice-cream maker, etc. We have three levels of outdoor living, with a screened in porch, and second and third level decks. You can eat in or outdoors at the dining tables on each level. We love to just relax with a drink and listen to the ocean while watching the surf. You can cook out on the grill, nap on the hammock while ocean breezes keep you cool, or rock in the rockers. Take a walk on the beach at sunrise or sunset and enjoy the natural beauty and friendly people.
This is a great house for a single family with kids or an extended family to enjoy all that the Isle of Palms, Mount Pleasant and Charleston have to offer.
Things to Do: The whole island is bike friendly, and you can bike down to the pier, or the little town center and park, which is less than a mile away. The town has good high end restaurants, but also pizza parlors, casual restaurants and ice cream shops, a cantina, sports bar, and little shops. There is also live music most nights in the summer at a rooftop bar and grill. There is a grocery store, a liquor store and a fish store less than a mile from the house, and places to rent surfboards or schedule water activities.
If you want to leave the island, you can bike down to Sullivan's Island and explore Fort Moultrie, or go kayaking and watch the dolphins. Make sure to get into Charleston to see the beautiful homes, and eat at the great restaurants Go to the Battery, Patriot's Point and Fort Sumpter, the museums, take a tour or just people watch. Saturday morning's Farmer's Market is always great, and there are wonderful fish markets all around.
Charleston also has great music and festivals. We hope you enjoy our home as much as we do and will come back to see us.
