This beautiful new house is just a short walk from the beaches. It offers a private living space, while being wide open to the river on the back porch. There is a beautiful beach and four uncrowded & amazing surf breaks within walking distance. This is one of the most relaxing vacations out there! Access to Los Cardones Surf Eco Lodge but with amenities such as air conditioning, a full kitchen, big open spaces, etc.
The Finca Del Mar trail is just steps away from the back porch. The trail leads to the beautiful uncrowded beach & also winds throughout the green areas of the community.
The house has an open floor plan with high cathedral ceilings. The generous overhangs and porches allow for the windows to stay open regardless of time of day or season.
Each patio offers several hammocks for lounging after a perfect surf session or delicious local meal. It also has a private outdoor shower for cooling off after the beach.
Finca Del Mar is a relaxed, comfortable coastal community on Nicaragua's beautiful Central Pacific Coast. Young, active outdoor-oriented individuals are drawn to Finca Del Mar's unique, environmentally conscious surroundings. Surfers and hikers, as well as fishing and nature enthusiasts, rave about this beautiful coast. Finca del Mar is located just 1 hour from the capital city of Managua and a short drive from the designer golf course of Gran Pacifica - yet it is worlds away from the bustle of modern life.
The community is on 100 acres of gentle landscape with the Sierras de Managua mountain range as beautiful backdrop in the distance. Finca Del Mar is bordered by the Pacific Ocean to the west & two pristine creeks and their shores of mangroves and tropical forest which are being preserved as an ecological green area.

We live in Austin, Texas and love to travel to new places and experience other parts of the world. Nicaragua is by far one of our favorite countries we have traveled to, so much so that we decided to buy a property there!
Janelle Hansen purchased this house in 2011
My family bought this home in 2011 after realizing how easy Nicaragua is to travel to and how beautiful and affordable it is once you are there. Los Cardenos is only about 45 minutes from Managua airport and once you are at the house, a beach vacation could not be any better.
The home is located on one of the most beautiful beaches in Nicaragua in walking distance to three of Nicaragua's top surf breaks. The lodge at los cardenos is amazing for watching the sunset or enjoying a lazy beach afternoon. On top of that, the food is amazing!
This place is awesome. It's off the beach a bit so you have a ton of privacy (showering outside without worrying about any neighbors thinking we're nudists was so nice) and the bikes make shuttling back and forth to the beach a breeze. The house itself is very clean and really well-stocked (nice knives, everything you need in the kitchen, a nice gas grill, towels, linens, etc.), the outdoor space with hammocks is great and very nicely landscaped and the inside is big (perfect for corralling kiddos). The house by far exceeded our expectations.
Janelle and Dan were amazing. They got all our groceries for us before we arrived. We ate fabulous fresh fruit and avocados the size of our heads all week and drank killer Nicaraguan coffee and a ton of rum. Janelle went above and beyond to make sure we were having the best time possible.
The highlight of our trip was definitely the fishing charter with Dan. We saw baby dolphins, turtles and the red snapper we caught was the best fish I have ever eaten in my life. It was really cool to get on the water and see the coastline. The lodge is great and you'll spend a ton of time there (get a massage), but you'd be crazy to stay there when you could cook your own food and put ice in your rum at Casa Surfside!
We had an amazing honeymoon at Casa Surfside! Janelle and Dan took GREAT care of us.
The house is really well-stocked, and has everything you need to cook at home, if you want to. Dan took us by the grocery store on our way in from the airport, and we cooked several of our meals at the house. We had chicken and pork out on the grill, ate a TON of fresh fruit, and of course we drank Nica coffee every morning. TIP: always buy the milk in the box :)
Each day we went down to the lodge, Los Cardones, and read books, took some amazing walks and got massages - all right on the beach. One of our highlights was releasing just-hatched sea turtles at sunset. AWESOME! We had one dinner and one breakfast there, and everything was top notch - and VERY affordable. Oh,and beers are $1.50 each. I swear we looked like a Corona commercial the whole time we were there (2 Adirondack chairs and 2 beers on the beach)!
We were there in the off-season (right at the end), and so we did not get to go out fishing on the boat, however when we go back we will definitely be doing this! Apparently, you can catch up to 20 fish a day, and even run across some sailfish, and rooster fish in addition to snapper.
Janelle threw in some extra special touches for our celebration. A bottle of bubbly and some local fruit nectar for "Pinosas"; a stick of butter when we ran out; a tiny birthday cake on my birthday while we were there, and a trip to visit the baby donkeys plus watch a few innings of baseball in the nearby town.
*sigh* It was definitely exactly what we needed. We took the relaxing version, but there was plenty to do! Surfing, horseback riding, and day trips (to volcanoes!) were all available, we just chose to recharge. My husband is already plotting his next boy's trip to Nica!
This was the best place we stayed in Nica!! The house itself was very clean, new, spacious, and updated. There were cookies in the fridge upon our arrival and Janelle (who helps out the owners while they're gone) was amazingly wonderful, kind, and helpful. We loved going to the Eco lodge on a daily and nightly basis to enjoy the yoga, beach, food, bar, hammocks, massages and cabanas. Everyone that worked there and that we met while staying there was super friendly and fun! I would highly recommend this spot.
Apon arrival the home was in good and clean condition. The home was a little isolated. Walking to the beach carring a surfboard was a chore. I would suggest you use los Cardones as a base and ask to store your gear there. We found the management of the home to be outstanding. Janelle was both helpfull and a joy to wrk with. Overall the home was beautifull.
staid at Casa surfside with our 2 kids aged 12 and 10. house is perfect for anybody who wants a beach retreat with all modern comfort. we had access to the Los Cardones surf resort which is part of the same deal so it was ideal as a mix of relaxation/restaurant/bar there and privacy when we wanted in our house.
Casa Surfside fronts a long stretch of fun, uncrowded, surfable beachbreak peaks. Winds are often offshore - and there is always swell.
With access to the surf and surrounding shoreline acreage, you will have the convenience of checking the waves from the various decks, rinsing off in our outdoor shower, and chilling out after a long surf session.
Our proximity to the capital city of Managua is a huge plus. From the airport you can be at Casa Surfside on the coast in an hour & a half.
Other Activities: Outdoor Recreation - Casa Surfside is situated in an incredibly rich area for outdoor recreation. From surf casting, windsurfing, hiking trails, birdwatching, or horseback riding - the area offers a wide-range of recreational activities to keep you fit and in tune with your surroundings.
Golf: Nearby Gran Pacifica is developing a 27-hole golf course, and we are within driving distance of several scenic volcanoes that offer exhilarating hikes.
