Experience the 'real Turkey' in the peaceful countryside near Uzumlu

Surrounded by the Taurus mountains in a peaceful location. Landscaped garden, patio areas and covered terraces for shade and al fresco dining. Private swimming pool. 10 minute walk to the traditional, unspoilt village of Uzumlu.

Sample the real Turkey in our luxury 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom detached villa, individually designed by a local architect using stone, wood and red roof tiles to blend with the natural surroundings. Rooms are spacious with floor to ceiling windows. The landscaped garden area includes sunny patios and covered terraces. There is a private swimming pool with accompanying tables, chairs and loungers. To the front of the villa there is a delightful courtyard with an attractive water feature, built-in barbecue and an organic herb/vegetable garden. The courtyard is surrounded by dry stone walling giving complete privacy. Villa Yasemin is not only a rental property. It is our second home and has been furnished to a high standard. Our villa is the perfect retreat.

Our nearest beach is Calis 20 minutes away and the town of Fethiye is 25 minutes away.

PLACES OF INTEREST: Boat trips run from Fethiye to the various islands off the coast and Rhodes is accessible by Hydrofoil. Sailing, paragliding, scuba diving and white water rafting are all available in the local area. Ancient ruins from the Lycian period can be seen at Cadianda, Patara, Tlos, Letoon, Xanthos and Sidyma or take a walk along the famous Lycian Way. The beautiful rural countryside provides a unique habitat for birds and wildlife. The livelier resort of Hisonarou and Ovacik can easily be reached by car or Dolmus (minibus) if you are looking for nightlife.

We are well-equipped for young children with a travel cot, high chair and stroller-type pushchair- also a potty !

It is sometimes hard to believe that just 17 kilometres outside a resort like Fethiye you can still find tiny pockets of unspoilt Turkey. But it is here that you will find the sleepy rural village of Uzumlu and, on its outskirts, Villa Yasemin. There is a market in the village where you can buy fresh produce for home cooking. The nearest town is Fethiye, which is a busy centre providing shops and services such as supermarkets and banks. It has a magnificent harbour, a wonderful promenade dotted with bars and restaurants and an interesting old town. Further along the coast is Oludeniz, an area designated as a National Park. It's beach sweeps along for 3 kilometres into a beautiful lagoon, perfect for a variety of water sports. The nearest beach is Calis 20 minutes drive from the villa. You can take a ferry along the canal from Calis to Fethiye. There is a pleasant promenade with bars and cafes where you can have a drink while watching the fantastic sunsets.

  • The master bedroom is a large, bright and airy bedroom with en-suite bathroom and balcony overlooking the pool. The second bedroom is also a large bedroom and has an adjacent bathroom. All furniture in these bedrooms has been handmade in solid pine by a local craftsman. Also downstairs is a twin bedroom with an adjacent bathroom. A marble staircase leads to the first floor. There are 2 good Z-beds available if 8 people are renting.

Notes: The lounge has a light and airy ambiance with an attractive brick fireplace. Large glass doors lead on to a terrace. This room is equipped with a TV, DVD, video and CD player. The kitchen is fully fitted with handmade units complete with oven/hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, toaster and ample kitchen utensils. There is a separate utility room with washing machine. The large dining room leads on from the kitchen. Glass doors open onto a patio.

A true getaway

This was our first time in Turkey and it certainly won't be our last. If you want to get away from it all, in a location that offers, excellent accomodation, beautiful views,good food and very friendly locals, then Villa Yaesmin in Umzulu is the place to go.

The bookling process was easy, and Shelia and Peter the owners were extremely helpful, great communication with plenty of tips and advice before we travelled. I felt that they offered a much more personnal service than you would get with a tour operator.

The Villa has eveything you need, with lovely gardens and outdoor eating area, the pool is great and you may meet some of the local wild life, (you often met tortoise in the garden).

Inside its very clean, and if there are any problems, Shelia and Peter have someone locally who can sort any problems out. Whilst we were there, one of the air conditioning units in the bedroom stopped working. As you can imagine, this is not great in the height of summer, but one quick phone call and by the end of the day it had been fixed.

Umzulu is situated approx a 20 minuted drive from the larger harbour resort of Fethiye, we would recommend a car however the local Dolmas (buses) run very regularly from the village. The village is lovely and the villagers extremely friendly.

Eating out is very reasonable, there were six of us, four adults and two teenagers and we were eating out, 2 -3 course with wines and drinks for approx £70-£80. Cadianada, Alya and Vintage were our favourite resturants.. The village has a couple of tavernas and small supermakets and a local market on a Friday morning, so most provisions can be brought locally.

Villa Yaesmin is the perfect base to visit the Western coast of Turkey and I would recommend this to young and old alike, a true getaway, to slow down and remember what life should be about.

Many, many thanks for letting us visit Villa Yasemin.We have been lucky enough to have had many lovely holidays all over the world, but I think we all agree that this has been our favourite. The villa, the countryside, the food, the weather, the people, all perfect (even getting stopped by the local traffic police wasn’t an altogether unpleasant experience).Can we book for next year?

A perfect retreat... a real find!!!

We (4 adults) spent two weeks at Villa Yasemin at he beginning of September 2009 after extensive searching via the Internet... and what a find! We always spend our holidays via private villa rentals every year, and can truthfully say that in over a decade of such holidays, this villa was by far the best. It's location, in a small, working village, but with absolute privacy was something we cherished. and enabled us to get just a glimpse of real Turkish life. However, we were just a short 15 min car ride away from Fetiye and Calis with all that they have to offer in terms of restaurants, shops, sightseeing and other amenities.

The villa itself was beautiful, thoughtfully designed and meticulously maintained. The rooms are very spacious and the kitchen and lounge more than adequately equipped to see you through your holiday. The pool and walled gardens give the impression of having your very own oasis! As beautiful as the photographs on the website are, they cannot properly convey what a haven of calm the gardens and villa really are.

The villa is so well equipped that you could just spend your whole holiday here - chilling out and relaxing. On the other hand, with a hire car - which we would recommend - it's a perfect base from which to explore the Turkish countryside and coastline.

The owners, Sheila and Jonathan were extremely pleasant and helpful before our trip and were full of ideas and recommendations to make sure we got the most of our holiday. They are proud of their home in Turkey - and rightly so! Definately to be recommended!

Fantastic Holiday!

We had an fantastic holiday in Turkey. Villa Yasemin is in a peaceful location. It is bright, spacious, beautifully presented and well equipped. The garden is lovely - must be the prettiest in Uzumlu! Our children (ages 13 & 9) loved the garden & pool. The village is a short walk away and fine for basic supplies & retaurants. The locals are all very friendly and definitely appreciate it if you try to speak a bit of Turkish! The local scenery, historic sights and beaches are amazing. Although it's probably not essential, we would certainly recommend a car.

The owners were really helpful and the staff at the villa were friendly too. We'd certainly recommend Villa Yasemin.
