Spruce Pine, Mitchell County’s largest city of just over 2,000 people sits poised along the North Toe River.

Most rapids on the river don't reach above a class II, but you still get to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Lower Nolichucky is another calmer river, offering class I and II rapids. The Lower Nolichucky River would be enjoyable for the entire family.
The Watauga River is accessible to visitors of the Spruce Pine area, and is the ideal river for families and children. Not too far into the trip down the Watauga River you will encounter Anaconda, a class two or class three rapid depending on water levels, and the best rapid of the trip. This river would serve as a great whitewater introduction for children seeking adventure, as would the Nantahala River, which also offers the occasional class II or class III rapid.

Why Owner chose Little Switzerland
We bought this home because we fell in love with the privacy & location! We knew this would be a home the whole family could come to and enjoy that much needed family time. We can share this home with our friends, but not feel cramped.
We have enjoyed many great times here with friends and family!
What makes this house unique
We love sitting on the large deck in the evenings and watching the sun go down, or relaxing in The hammock. Or sitting out in the gazebo in the morning with a cup of coffee. We hike and explore the grounds with the kids, which is always an adventure. We go apple picking every visit and have baked apples and apple pies, the best mountain apples we've ever had!
Hiking the gorges and visiting the waterfalls is a highlight of our trip!
So many things to list, we always hate to leave!
