Hibiscus Hale is fun; large bright and elegantly appointed. It is a 2800 sq. ft. comfortable vacation home easily shared by two families or 3 or 4 couples yet maintaining privacy and a sense of seclusion. In an upscale neighborhood on the mountainside at 600ft. elevation, the house looks down over the yard, the private pool and landscaped tropical greenery directly above quaint seaside Kailua Village along the bay on the Kona Coast of The Big Island, Hawaii.
Ten miles south of Kona airport on highway 11, then five blocks up the mountainside to the circular driveway into the covered portico. Through the inviting entryway into the upper living space and lanai level, decorated in an ambiance of modern art and traditional Hawaiian decor.
The sliding glass back and side walls open the living room to the tropic views of the lanai. The living room has large leather couches, a 60in. television, lounge chairs, and large stone coffee table. The adjoining dining area also looks out to the veranda view. Beautiful glass cabinetry contains enough dinner ware to accommodate the largest group and opens dually to the dining and kitchen areas. The kitchen is fully equipped with gas stove, all appliances and convenient gadgetry.
The master bedroom is large and quiet with king bed, walk-in closet and private bathroom with a glass block shower. The bedroom has a high ceiling with a fan, air conditioning, television, window seat and warm wood window treatments. Its furniture, lamps and art pieces blend traditional and modern Hawaiiana.
The second bedroom, has a king bed and appointments to further enhance the thematic decor. There is an adjoining bath, again with a glass block shower.
Upstairs from the dining area is a carpeted cupola with 360 degree views. Equipped as an office with high speed internet, desk and chair plus lounge chair, lamp and small table, the room is a quiet workspace, or a crow's nest hideout to sleep a few young pirates.
The lanai wraps around three sides of the house, accessible from each. This elevated scenic overlook has a large gas BBQ, two porch swings, table and chairs. The left side view of the yard is through our large producing mango tree. The back looks down to floral landscaped yard and fenced and gated steps to the spacious lower terraced pool area surrounded by palms and flowering trees creating a secluded tropical play area. The pool is large, 18ft.x50ft. There is a shower area, a bin of pool toys, ample pool furniture and a table with shade umbrella.
Downstairs the third bedroom has a king bed and direct access to the covered porch and spa, the yard and gateway to the pool. It is adjacent to the third bath and shower, and the hallway to the stocked linen closet, the laundry room with washer, dryer, utility sink, cleaning supplies and cabinets.
The hall ends at the door to the fourth bedroom. This largest room in the house is carpeted looks out to the back yard and has two double beds, two leather couches, a large lounge chair, a 48in. flat screen TV, wet bar, a game table with four chairs and a double book shelf stocked with books and table games. This still leaves enough floor space for additional bedding if needed. There is an interior door connecting to the third bedroom and a sliding door to the yard gate and side driveway extension with enough parking for two or three or more vehicles.
