Stoupa Stupendous

Review Submitted: August 21, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Having holidayed in Stoupa on and off for the last 10 years, we have experienced some great holiday’s and for that reason we keep returning, but this one beats the rest by far. Not only because the apartment was exactly as described, comfortable, well equipped , great position with wonderful views, but we felt instantly at home. Wendy and Barry greeted us on arrival and right away we realised we had made the right decision when choosing our holiday apartment. This is the first time we have visited Stoupa as independent travellers and we certainly made the right choice when choosing this accommodation. The only thing we would add next time would be a hire car. Not because it’s too far to walk to the village. That was one of our favourite things, to stroll down to dinner at one of the many superb tavernas and then walk back at the end of the evening , star gazing . Instead, it would enable us to be a little more adventurous ,and we feel the apartment would make a great base for us to explore more of the surrounding area together with the confidence that Wendy and Barry would send us in the right direction if necessary. By the end of our week we all felt we had known Wendy and Barry for years. We felt comfortable in their company and enjoyed many an afternoon or evening sitting around the pool chatting and laughing and leant a lot more about the local area, to add to the knowledge we already had. We were very impressed by our apartment, with all it’s extras to make our holiday complete and look forward to returning for more laughs and stunning views in the years to come.

Barry, Shelagh and Aaron.
Owner's Response: What a wonderful review from a wonderful family. As they found with us living next door to the rental property, we are always on hand with local knowledge. We can help you to plan some of your itinerary to take in some of the experiences package tours don't provide. They had a wonderful sense of fun, and the nickname was provided by one of the taverna owners, reflecting the many laughs they provided. So, become independent and enjoy a whole new Greek experience.

Peaceful location for a relaxing holiday.

Review Submitted: September 25, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
We hired a car from Athens and then followed the clear instructions and made it to the apartment 4.5 hours later. From the minute we arrived at the apartment we were greeted by Wendy and Barry who were very friendly and couldn't do enough to ensure we settled in immediately and the cold beer waiting in the fridge helped too! The apartment was clean and comfortable with lots of interesting magazines and a book on local walks and places of interest around Stoupa and the Mani. We used the book for a walk to the village above Stoupa called Neochori. We used the swimming pool in the morning also enjoyed using the pool loungers at night with a glass of Metaxa and star gazing, which was made all the more enjoyable without light pollution. We would recommend Stoupa and Wendy and Barry's apartments, as an ideal base. We were glad we hired a car and we drove to the southern tip of mainland Greece one day with lots of interesting sites along the way. Stoupa, Kalogria and the coast beyond Ag Nikolaos have good beaches. Stoupa has excellent tavernas with Gialos (around from the main beach) being our favourite with great food in a perfect location overlooking the sea where we used to feed the little fish fattening them up ready for the local tavernas to catch and serve up future dinners!! We saw lots of wildlife during our stay including Kingfishers and butterflies to mention but a few. We enjoyed the 15-20 minutes walk to and from the main street of Stoupa as it was good exercise everyday. Happy memories and our stay in Stoupa will stay with us forever.

Fantastic holiday

Owner's Response: A rough translation: We are very kind and helpful, they enjoyed a relaxing holiday, the beach is minutes away with sun beds and umbrellas reserved. Stoupa is very beautiful and peaceful.

Another happy family, friendship has no language barriers. First time visitors to Stoupa but said they will be back. We helped with their itinerary to visit Olympia and other ancient sites. We can do the same for you.

This was our first visit to Stoupa in June 2009.
Barry & Wendy's apartments are without doubt some of the best we have stayed in. They come fully equiped with all the things that take up valuable luggage space - Beach towels, Hairdryers etc. Not only is this accommodation spotlessly clean and modern, but also very well maintained. The pool area is a god send in the heat, this again is a very well appointed facility and has sunbeds for everyone.
Barry & Wendy themselves are wonderfully warm and accommodating, nothing is ever a problem and we enjoyed their company on a couple of occassions in the local Taverna's.
This was indeed a holiday to remember and we will visit Stoupa again in Aug 2009. Unfortunately, Barry & Wendy are fully booked, so I will be looking to book early for next year.
My advice is, give them a try you won't be disapponted.
Owner's Response: What a wonderful review. They have well and truly caught the Stoupa "Bug!" It is a shame we are booked up for their next visit, but they will pop in and see us. It definitely pays too book early as we have made so many friends who have stayed with us and most promise to come back. So if you want to savour a warm welcome in our little piece of heaven we already have bookings for 2010. So get on the web site and give yourself the Stoupa experience.

A great holiday!

Wendy and David Great Dunmow, Essex, UK
Review Submitted: June 23, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
Barry and Wendy are the perfect hosts - attentive but not intrusive. Excellent service - everything regularly cleaned, and new linen/towels twice a week. Spotless on arrival, with a welcome pack with magazines and local information.
Setting is wonderful - peaceful and quiet, away from the town - 15/20 minutes walk - and set in beautifully kept gardens; a pool (with views over the coast), which Barry is meticulous in maintaining. Nothing was too much trouble.
We strongly recommend Stoupa as a pleasant resort with a great beach - good bars and tavernas, and a convenient
centre for exploring this part of the Peleponnese.
Thanks for a great holiday and we plan to return soon!
Owner's Response: A perfect couple. They actually stayed in the Artemis Apartment. This review highlights once again what a beautiful spot Stoupa is. They wanted a quiet holiday to recharge their batteries, and achieved their objective. If you have not yet discovered Stoupa give yourself a treat and discover a gem in the Peloponnese.
