Olive Tree House is situated just outside the picturesque historic village of Megali Mandinia overlooking the sea in the foothills of the Taygetos mountain range. The bustling city of Kalamata with its harbour and marina is approximately 20 minutes drive. This luxury six double bedroom 400m2 villa was completed in 2006 and has a large private pool and outdoor BBQ area. It is walkable (less than 5 min) to a panoramic taverna and (in 10 min) to the village which has four tavernas all open all year round. It is less than a 5 min drive to the nearest sandy beach where there are four tavernas, one with a plunge pool. Kitries harbour with its authentic fresh seafood restaurants is a 10 minute drive. The luxury villa is set in 13000m2 of private olive groves with stunning views of the of the snow capped Taygetos mountain range and the private pool, gorge and sea. To the front are unrestricted sea views over the bay to the Messinian headland beyond. The sunsets are truly memorable.

Olive Tree House is a luxury sea view property elevated above the bay of Messinia just outside the pretty historic village of Megali Mandinia which has 5 tavernas and a minimarket. It is less than a five minute drive to local beaches and the sea. The city of Kalamata is a 20 minute drive and offers cosmopolitan shopping, beach front restaurants and bars and a selection of night-life. Kalamata also boasts a super harbour again with a variety of bars and international restaurants. Olive Tree House offers the best of all worlds: head to Kalamata for choice and sophistication or head south for sleepy rural villages and private beaches and coves. Alternatively stay put at Olive Tree by the pool, playing table tennis or literally 'chilling out' in the air conditioned property and admiring the view of the mountains, sea and beach front. Note that the property has a stunning infinity pool - children must be supervised - the owners take no responsibility for injury.

  • All the bathrooms are finished to a high standard. All 6 bedrooms have their own ensuite facilities and there is a ground floor cloakroom with hand basin and WC. By the pool there is also a separate outdoor shower facility.

  • Olive Tree House has 6 spacious bedrooms; 3 king size and 3 twin bedded. A cot for an infant is also available. Each room has its own independently controlled air conditioning system and is centrally heated during the off peak season. All bedrooms have either ensuite shower or bathrooms and are appointed to a very high standard with matching bedside cabinets, wardrobes and dressing tables/mirrors. The bedrooms have wooden floors and all have French doors to their own balconies suitable for sitting outside and relaxing. Duvets and quality bed linen are provided and linen including towels are changed once per week.

Notes: The property has a 50 inch wall mounted plasma TV, Playstation 2 with Eye Toy with a selection of games. The lounge and pool areas have audio speakers and there is an iPod docking station linked to this to enable clients to play their own selections of music indoors and out. There is one indoor and two separate outdoor dining areas - one on the covered terrace by the kitchen overlooking the pool - ideal for keeping an eye on children and eating in the shade, and the other by the outdoor BBQ overlooking the bay and the property's own olive groves - ideal for evening eating. The latter seats 12 and has a large garden umbrella if required. Each bedroom has its own balcony or terrace suitable for sitting out with a coffee and croissant or a late evening Metaxa! Olive Tree House is set in extensive grounds of terraced olive groves where wild tortoises can often be found - ideal for exploring.

Travel to the Peleponnese: From May to October flights are available on Saturdays and Sundays direct to Kalamata airport which is about a 30 minute drive to Olive Tree House. Flights to Athens are available all year round and Kalamata is about a 3.5 hr transfer from Athens using the new orbital motorway system. Taxi or coach transfers can be arranged. It is also possible to reach Kalamata via a connecting flight from Thessaloniki airport on Wednesdays and Saturdays or Crete on Friday or Sunday all year round.

The perfect place for the perfect holiday

We were totally taken aback when we arrived at the house, it was even better than the pictures. The bedrooms are all large with ensuites and balconies and the views from the balconies are to die for. The well equipt kitchen is also huge, perfect for cooking for large numbers. The double height living room with large flatscreen tv, good range of DVDs and comfortable sofas got a lot of use on the rare occassion it rained.
But the best part was the infinity pool, we spent many a day and night around it, in it and admiring it. A great place to watch the beautiful sunsets and sunrises. We also had a BBQ every night and sat out under the stars drinking the local wine.
The house is so good we barely left, only to get supplies and for a dip in the sea. There are plenty of things to do in the region and we went on one day trip but couldn't wait to get to back to the pool.
You definately need a car to get here as it is quite isolated. We drove from Athens, an easy 3 1/2 hour drive and plenty of things to see on the way.
It was an amazing holiday and I would highly recommend it, in fact I think we will go back next year.
