Lowick Green Barn Rental Photos and Description

Stunning, contemporary 'get away' perfectly located for Southern Lake District

If your wish is luxury lakes without the tourists, chic to champion over chintz, local knowledge without the insularity, friendliness without over familiarity then all will be fulfilled at Coal Yeat.

Imaginatively arranged using contemporary open plan design Coal Yeat Cottages are ideal for families or couples holidaying together, or if both utilised together they offer a unique group environment. The highlight for both 'Yan' and 'Tyan' is the breathtaking outlook over the much loved Lakeland fells.

Local Amienties: We are situated on the southern fringe of the Lake District National Park in pure isolation betwixt the festival town of Ulverston and the village of Lowick within the Crake valley. Less than three miles in one direction finds all the amenities of the popular market town of Ulverston with its wide choice of eclectic shops, inns and restaurants, a championship golf course, sports centre with swimming pool and gym. Two miles the other finds the Crake Valley winding from the foot of Coniston Water through Lowick with it‘s 14th century coaching inn, old Lakeland working bobbin villages, fertile fields and woodland until it reaches the shores of Morecambe bay.

Ideal for walkers, bikers and escapees this is rural Cumbria at it’s peak. Coniston Water 4 miles and Lake Windermere 6 miles are close enough for a quick dip (we’ll let you into the locals secrets and you’ll discover secret swimming coves in true Swallows and Amazon’s style), Grizedale Forest Enterprise Centre, 6miles offers unique off road trials for bikers and walkers through wood and stone sculptures scattered amongst the trees.

We are ideally located close enough to the national park to enjoy its unparalled beauty and character but also within the Furness Peninsula which offers subtle diversions from the associated bustle of the more frequented Lakes hot spots. The medieval priory village of Cartmel, home to the most picturesque meets on the UK race calender (May and August bank holidays), Haverthwaite Steam Engines and Lakeside Steam Cruises, Holker Hall and Gardens and the Victorian seaside town of Grange are all within 30 mins drive.

Distances-

* Coniston - 10 mins to the foot of the water, 30 mins to the village

* Cartmel - 15 mins to the medieval priory village

* Windermere - 12 mins to the southern tip of Windermere and Lakeside the departure point for Steam cruises

Excellent place to stay

  • 5 of 5
Coal Yeat is Amazing, fabulous, luxurious. Emma was a extremely help and was very friendly, we even check in early on the day. They where 6 adults, one 5 year old and a 1 year old. We where ok to bring a blow up bed and a cot.
In a tranquil area with nothing but green fields and animals it was so peaceful and relaxing, we were greeted with home-made bread, cake, tea, coffee, milk and a bottle of wine, what a nice touch. the kitchen was extremely well equipped, with 8 of use we did not have a problem, we hope to be able to go back to the lakes again within the next two years and will be going back to Coal Yeat.
A big thanks to Emma as she made all the difference to the stay

Amazing place

  • 5 of 5
Could not recommend this place more - Yan Cottage is lovely, the views are amazing, it's way out in the hills so it's nice and quiet, the showers are great, the beds are comfy... do I need to go on?! Having a few goodies waiting for us when we arrived was very much appreciated (none of them lasted long!). One really nice touch is having a small cupboard of spices, oil etc. all free to use (just replace anything you finish!), so you don't need to bring loads of stuff with you if you want to cook properly. We'll be back!

New Year 2011 - our stay at Coal Yeat Cottages

  • 5 of 5
Our whole experience of Coal Yeat Cottages was faultless from start to finish. From sending off the 1st enquiry about the cottage the owner was extremely officiant and made the booking process simple. The joining instructions and directions were perfect - note to self pay attention to them and you will not go wrong!! when we arrived at the cottage it was spottlessly clean and extrememly well presented, exactly what the pictures showed if not better!!. The welcoming touch of wine, fresh bread and cakes went down great after a long drive. The location of the cottages are great not to far from the motorway and you can easily access the nearby towns/villages. The stocked cuboards with cooking essentials made life so easy during our stay. I 100% recommend these properties to all parties we were a group aged 25-40 and it suited everyones needs and we will definently look to return in the near future. It was a pleasure to stay at Coal Yeat a New Year get away to remember.

Superb villa in a great location

  • 5 of 5
We stayed in Tyan for the Royal Wedding Bank Holiday weekend; arriving on the Friday we were greeted with fresh bread, milk, butter, home made cakes (delicious!) and a bottle of wine. The villa itself was spotless, well equipped and very comfortable. These cottages are in an ideal location to explore the Lake District enabling easy access and then the ability to escape to a little bit of peace and quiet. The views are great and the ability to wander into the wood or into the fields provided loads of space. The children particularly enjoyed climbing the rocks and exploring, plus there is a nice piece of grass outside Tyan to play in and enjoy the scenery. A lovely weekend and would recommend! We will be going back at some point.

Perfect!

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at Yan cottage for 3 nights over May Day weekend. My friends took their 13 yr old child and my husband and I took our 12 yr old son.

The drive up to Yan from the main road was amazing, its location is stunning and in close reach of Coniston. We found the cottage beautifully presented and very well equipped. A nice welcome touch from Emma included fresh bread, cakes, bottle of wine, milk and butter. The cupboards were stocked with plenty of tea, coffee and herbs.

We ate in the local pubs that are listed in the information file, they were all very good. We walked up Old Man Coniston and the Langdale Pikes during our stay so welcomed the comfy beds on our return.

The animals on the farm - dogs, chickens and pigs entertained the children as did the Playstation and Monopoly board game provided!

We will definately return and I would recommend Yan to anyone.
