Beautiful, spacious and convenient 4 bedroom, 2 bath located 15 minutes from both Sugarbush and Mad River Glenn ski areas.(only 30 minutes from Stowe) Located on private 15 acre parcel 3 miles north (1/2 mile from Route 100) of Waitsfield shopping areas. Entry to home either via a private parking area adjacent to house (rear entry) or from a private parking area (up to 3 cars) adjacent to the patio area in the front. Entering through the rear entry you pass through a wide hallway/mud room. A great place to store skis and other equipment. On the right is a newly renovated bedroom with 2 twin beds (part of a daybed unit), sofa bed, and nook for desk) This bedroom has a separate private entry to the back lower patio that houses a 2 person hot tub. Continue down the hallway and pass a second large bedroom on your left (actually a bedroom suite with queen bed,+ queen sofa bed and loveseat) The bedroom is adjacent to a living room with a matching leather couch and oversized chair. The living room has a entertainment wall unit with HDTV, (Dish Network) and wet bar) . A full bathroom is also located down this hallway (corner shower unit).
At the end of the hallway on your right is a wide stairway which brings you to the spacious second floor. There is a nice open area that houses both a full kitchen (Refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, blender etc and eat in counter for 3) and a dining room/entertainment area , (large screen HDTV,, stereo, DVD player, selection of musicCDs and board games) A dining room table (seating for 8) and full bathroom (4ft wide shower with seating) is also located in the center section of the upstairs level.
At one end of the upper level through a set of french doors is the 4th bedroom. This is a long narrow bedroom (approx 8ftx25ft) There are two full size beds, on opposite ends of the bedroom . (A perfect room for older children (particularly popular with teens) or two adults that like a large (full size) bed for themselves. In the center of the room are a reading area with a loveseat and a table that holds a fax machine and printer) (WiFi throughout the guest house) At the other end of the upper level (through a second set of french doors - see pictures) is a new bedroom suite (New queen bed on one end and leather couch and love seat on the opposite end (this new room measures 13ft x 25ft) A nice deck is accessed from this new addition. Here you will find a charcoal barbecue (charcoal provided) and two chairs. Lovely mountain views from the deck. (All views are east looking at Skrag Mountain)
The guest house measures over 1600 sq ft. It is ideal for two families (3-5 per family) or for one larger family. A total of 2 Queen, 2 full (the 2 full are in one bedroom) , 2 twins (in 4th bedroom) and a queen sofabed allows sleeping for 10. (in beds) Possibly sleeping for 12 if couches are utilized for sleeping. Please note a charge of 50 per night per person is added for all groups exceeding 8 people.
The guest house is adjacent to a large cleared 5 acre parcel that is bordered by a wide brook with waterfalls. The lot is hilly and provides excellent terrain for sledding during the winter. (we generally have plastic type sleds available) . A wonderful private area to be enjoyed by your family.
OPTIONAL 2 BEDROOM OR 6 BEDROOM RENTAL
There are two buildings on the 15 acre property. The owner and spouse live in the larger 4000 sq ft building. They have made the lower (walk out) level 2 bedroom apartment for rent - Apartment can be rented in conjuction with the 4 bedroom guest house or as a stand alone rental.
DESCRIPTION OF TWO BEDROOM RENTAL (SEPARATE APARTMENT)
You enter the apartment via a 30ft x 10ft bluestone patio located underneath the deck (located in front) of the Main House (Separate private keyed entry). Parking for two cars is provided right next to the patio. There are two sunny large bedrooms on each side of a wide entry area (one bedroom is very large with full bed and futon - the second bedroom (10ft x 12 ft) has a full bed with twin on top( good room for children).
Hallway opens up to a large space that houses living room (sectional sofa, (additional futon, large screen HDTV (Dish Network provided) and Dining Room (modern design table that seats 4). A new full size kitchen (new stove, dishwasher, two small refrigerators separate freezer and counter with additional seating for two) finishes off this open space.
In back of apartment is the laundry room and a bathroom (4 ft wide shower with seat).
Total space of the apartment is approx 1,100 sq ft. Wifi and phone service is provided. Parking for two vehicles immediately adjacent to apartment. It is a very nice apartment that is meticulously cared for by the property owners.

We purchased our property in 1997 after visiting the Mad River Valley for several years.It was easy to fall in love the tranquility and beauty of the Mad River Valley. Since our children are just finishing their studies and not living at home anymore, we decided to share our piece of paradise with others. We are constantly upgrading the guest house and apartment to make it more and more comfortable for our guests. Private, spacious, beautiful setting and great location. Located just 15 minutes from ski areas, 5 minutes from shopping areas. Property that is equally beautiful during any season.
Location location location - Near several ski areas and local shopping. Also close to several key wedding destinations. (The Round Barn, Skinner Barn (5miles), the 1824 Inn (1/2 mile) Easy access off of Route 100. Nice private setting with mountain views and adjacent to beautiful brook. Relatively close proximity to the ski areas without the hustle and bustle of staying on the mountain. Only 5 minutes from shopping areas.
Harvey and Myriam offered a great get away location for our family. Their guesthouse provided us with ample room, all of the comforts of home and lots of very thoughtful niceties courtesy of the owner which made our stay just perfect. The property was well kept, immaculately clean, well provisioned and Harvey was at our disposal in the event anything was ever needed - which it never was. The owners were gracious with their time orienting us to the home, gave us our own space and couldn't have been more conscientious and gracious hosts.
This was our first Home Away experience and it couldn't have gone better. We can't wait to make our way back again. Thanks Harvey and Myriam!
We highly enjoyed our stay with 8 adults and 2 teenagers there was lots of room for everyone to do their thing. The two story layout was ideal. I would recommend this to anyone looking for comfortable, home-like accommodations. Very close to Sugarbush and Madriver too. Would not hesitate to stay here again.
We just finished an excellent stay in Harvey's guest house and are happy to report that it is clean, comfortable and very accommodating for one large or two or more small families. We even had another family join for a few nights in the adjacent main house in-law apartment, which was perfect for a small family of 3-5, or even just a couple.
The guest house is stocked with everything you need--and if you don't have it, Harvey will get it for you. He is a very good host who aims to please, but he also stays out of your way so you don't feel like you are on someone else's property. He replaced our stove with a brand new one the day before we arrived because the old one apparently had issues during the prior renters' stay. We had sub-zero temps for much of our stay but the house was toasty throughout. The water heater can handle two showers at once, which comes in very handy when you have multiple teenaged girls in your group, as we did, and many skiers coming back from a cold day on the hill.
The guest house functions very well as one unit or two, with two separate living areas sharing the kitchen and an internal stairway. It is easy to be together as a group, but also for everyone to have privacy if they wish.
The house is less than ten minutes to the center of Waitsfield and 15 minutes to Sugarbush. Great location and very private, with nice views as well. I imagine it's wonderful in the summer as well, and we are thinking of returning then. But in the meantime we'll be trying to get back this winter for some more epic Northeast skiing conditions.
I can't say enough about this wonderful guest house and it's owners. This was the first vacation my husband and I have taken without our children. Our youngest was going to camp at Camp Betsey Cox in Pittsford and being from Florida, it was too far for us to drop her off and return two weeks later. We didn't know where we were going to stay for two weeks, but found this wonderful guest house through iTravex. It's centrally located in Vermont, just outside Waitsfield, near two ski resorts. We were able to explore the entire state and Quebec on numerous hikes during our two week stay. Now we are in love with Vermont! There are plenty of great hiking trails nearby, including the celebrated Long Trail. The hot tub was great after a long day of hiking. The Rennai tankless water heater means you don't run out of hot water when you are last in the shower. The guest house is clean, peaceful, with ample room for more people, and yet cozy for two. We stayed in the upstairs bedroom with the queen bed which was very comfortable. Most of our stay we did not need A/C, but the few nights we did, it cooled the house off very quickly. It has an upstairs kitchen with a lovely view of the mountains with everything you could possibly need to fix meals at home. There are two grocery stores in Waitsfield and there was a great farmer's market one of the days we were there. Ask Harvey which day because he absolutely knows everything about the area or will find it out for you. I can't imagine a better place, or a better host, for vacationing in Vermont. We look forward to coming back.
Where to start...
First off, the house is in great condition, with everything you could possibly need. Even multiple crockpots. If you don't have it, the owner will get it for you. Every appliance you could want or need is there, including a washer/dryer and a hot tub. There are multiple TVs with Dish Network and WiFi provided so you can stay connected our your vacation. The house is located in a quiet valley with fantastic views and you'll have complete privacy. It also has tons of space. If someone in your party is disabled or has poor mobility, there's a first-floor bedroom and bathroom which is reachable with no stairs, and a spacious living room (the kitchen is upstairs however).
Second, the surrounding area is great. Vermont is ridiculously beautiful, and the Waitsfield area offers a surprising number of attractions and good food. You have Waterbury, Montpelier, and Burlington just a hop, skip and a jump away. You will not get bored and the time will fly by, with the guesthouse being a perfect home base for your forays.
The strongest thing I could say about my experience here is that before my family and I left, we were already talking about coming back next year.
Our family (8 adult, 2 children) enjoyed our stay. Harvey is a excellent host. The house had everything we needed. Before our arrival I contacted Harvey asking for specific cookware and everything was waiting for us.
Hottub looks new and clean. A/C in one of the room upstair make the house comfortable in the summer.
Very long drive way, it was excellent for the children to play and run.
We really likes the house. I will return to this house if I have to go to Vermont again.
