Inside the cabin, every room has a vaulted ceiling and all the rooms have been decorated with woodsy, cabin decor. This is a cabin which was built in the early 60's as a vacation home and has always been used as a retreat. It has central heat and air, as well as a Baby Buck stove insert in the large natural stone fireplace which will keep the cabin toasty warm in the coldest of temperatures, such that the cabin can be enjoyed in all seasons. Further, the cabin is usually decorated to celebrate the seasons.
It was cold and rainy but still delightfully dreamy. We took long walks, had cozy times reading, watching movies, eating, having Margaritas, and taking naps. Saw three deer, one griebe, one kingfisher, seven squirrels,...
Every moment in this fascinating cabin was a memorable moment. Such a peaceful and relaxing time....
Our stay was for 6 days. We chose this location because it was close to home as my husband had just had surgery so we wanted something as a quiet get away but close enough that we could get back to the city if needed. Bonnie was absolutely wonderful to work with and bent over backwards to accommodate us. Our total group consisted of 5 adults and 2 children. 2 of the adults and the children stayed 3 nights
The description listed is accurate to a T. Cabin is small but cozy and beautifully decorated. If there could be one negative with the cabin, and it would be a tiny one, in that it is over decorated. A LOT of knick knacks for such a small space. We had our grandchildren which are 4 and 18 months so it was a challenge to keep tiny hands from touching all the pretty decorations!
All one needs to visit are groceries as everything else is furnished. Bonnie has thought of nearly every convenience to make the stay as pleasant as possible.. Just be aware that the shower in the bathroom is small. My husband is a big guy so the shower stall was really tight when bathing.
We spent most of our time on the wonderful screened in porch. The boys loved the porch swing and the adults lounged on the comfortable furniture. The evenings on the porch was especially delightful with a nice glass of wine and candlelight.
If you have walking problems, then the pathways are tough to maneuver as they are cobblestone and very uneven. The grounds are not flat so pick a pathway carefully but it is not a deterrent and in no way a distraction from the property. This is just noted so anyone with difficulty in walking can be aware.
The men fished everyday for a week and caught only 4 fish! Not a record but most enjoyable just the same. What we were surprised at was the lack of mosquitos and bugs. We took plenty of bug spray but did not need to use any, which was great.
Our son and his wife have already planned to go back to the cabin in the fall for a weekend retreat. This is an ideal place for young lovers or for old folks who want to rekindle the love fires!
Thank you ever so much for allowing us to enjoy your wonderful cabin. We will highly recommend to everyone and will definitely come back!
We arrived on Mon and left on Fri. It still was not enough time. We so enjoyed our stay. My daughter and the grandsons and I had a wonderful time. The boys fished to their hearts content. I can't tell you how enjoyable it was to listen to the kids giggle and laugh. We were here for spring break. The water was to cold for swimming, but didn't seem to matter to the boys. In they went the first day we were their. Plenty of yard space for 3 boys! Lots of lake frontage. Bonnie was so easy to work with. She was so accomadateing. She allowed the boys to use the kayaks. They loved their stay. Big yard on a lake, kayaks, camp fire at night and fire in the fireplace inside on chilly nights. Doesn't get much better than that. We sat on the porch swing and listened and watched as they played and laughed. All the fresh air was good for sleeping. The cabin is small and cozy. We all slept in on the one rainey morning. The pics on-line are exactly as we found the place. Simply put...we had a great time and loved it here. We hope to be back next year. Judi K
This was the perfect quiet getaway. The cabin was perfect, with a fireplace and christmas lights and beautiful morning lake view. Quarters were tight and cozy. Very clean and everything was provided. Make sure to get your groceries way before you arrive in Carlisle. Great steakhouse nearby. Owner was extremely helpful and pleasant to communicate with. Nothing to do but get away. Perfect...
