A charming and beautifully restored period house

We had seen photo’s of the house prior to going but on arriving in the early evening after a long drive down from Caen it was delight to find that Mas De Tambay more than lived up to expectations. The house has been furnished and restored to a very high standard it has a lovely warm and secure atmosphere and really provides everything you need for a very comfortable and relaxing holiday. The surrounding countryside towns and villages are idyllic, for the more adventurous and energetic there are plenty of activities in the local area to keep you busy, but it is also perfect if you want to just chill out. Thank you Bim and David for giving us the opportunity to experience a really wonderful French holiday, we will definitely be going back.

Charmingly converted farmhouse. Idyllic location.

I immediately fell in love with Mas de Tambay! It is a stunning conversion of a traditional French farmhouse and is fully equipped for a family holidays.

All rooms are decorated with style and character and the whole property presents very much as a home from home. The property description was brilliant and all our expectations were met. It was beautifully presented - cleaned, equipped and maintained to the highest standard. The owners David and Bim couldn't have been more helpful.

The swimming pool is fabulous! Children played happily and safely within easy view of parents. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were enjoyed every day on the terrace. The fresh plums from the trees in the garden made the most scrumptious crumble!

We also enjoyed kayaking on the Aveyron and bike rides in and around the locality.

Beautiful meals were enjoyed at La Petie Folie, Rince Cochon, Gazpacho and Thierry's Auberge. We had a terrific evening at the Marché Gourmand in St Projet sampling food and drink from local producers - the perfect way to experience French food.

St Projet is the perfect base for visiting so many wonderful places of interest: St Antonin Noble Val, Belcastel, St Cirque Lapopie, Villefranche to name just a few.
The whole region is just enchanting. Having previously spent time in the Ariege, the Loire, Languedoc and Brittany, I found the Lot/Tarn et Garonne area came out tops!

I can't recommend Mas de Tambay highly enough and look forward to returning again, perhaps with another a group of friends or my sister and her family as the house has so much space and accommodation it can easily absorb large numbers.

Ten out of ten to David and Bim for putting together such a truly amazing holiday home.

Gorgeous estate - perfect for families!

We (three families - 6 adults, 5 children aged between 7-14, 2 dogs) had a wonderful time last summer!

There was plenty of room for all of us indoors and outside. The house is clean, comfortable and well maintained. The listing description is accurate, but doesn't do justice to the beautiful house, the spectacular view and the breathtaking landscapes. There are medieval cities, monasteries, castles, enchanted forests, rivers, caves and many picturesque places to see in the area, thousands of activities for families with kids.

We spent 2 weeks in Mas de Tambay and every day we discovered new places to go and things to do. Playing boule with the locals, horseback riding, canoeing, guided cave tours, farmers and gourmets markets, quad biking are just some of the activities. We had breakfast on the shaded terrace at the front of the house every day. With fresh eggs from happy chickens that can be bought from a farmer close by. A trip to St Cirq-la-Popie, Villefranche and Bruniquel are highly recommended.

The owner provides a lot of information about the activities in the area. As someone wrote before, David will attend to any problems immediately and help with arrangements. The locals are very friendly and open and we just had a great time!

Some of us came back in fall/winter, which is a stunning time of year and we were very happy to be back in St. Projet.

Fabulous house in rural France

We (two families - 4 adults, five children aged between 12 and 17) had a fabulous time in this lovely house.

The house is restored and furnished beautifully - we spotted extra little touches every day - and we loved the outside seating areas and the barn. We've stayed in lots of houses in France and we all agreed this one has been our favourite.

It's a rural and tranquil part of France but there's plenty to do. We went to - St Antonin (great market), Villefranche, Villeneuve, Najac, St Cirq, Cahors, Cordes and Albi. That sounds like a lot! But we found plenty of time to relax around the house. There's lots of outdoor space for quiet reading, playing games (table tennis, darts, boules) and snoozing. We also went (twice!) to Thierry's restaurant (half hour walk) whch we loved. We also went canoeing twice - the Averyon is a lovely river.
We enjoyed everything!

We arrived back to England to grey skies and rain and wanted to turn right around and head back.
No hesitation in recommending this house. Plus David, the owner, was really helpful with arrangements, recommendations and advice.

Just Great!

Had the pleasure of staying at Mas de Tamblay in June. The property is in a country location with great views of the nearby castle, but close to so many interesting and fun sights and attractions. House is beautifully restored, containing quality funiture and appliances. Our two families were able to stay there together and there was still plenty of room both indoors and out. David was very helpful both in getting the visit organised and in providing a huge amount of information about what to do once we there. The region around is superb, with lovely little towns, rivers and gorges, castles, monasteries, as well as plenty of other activities such as mountain biking, hiking and canoeing. Highly recommend for just about any sort of holiday into the South of France.

After a busy few months last summer we arrived at Mas de Tambay and had a wonderful week - quiet and relaxing - in this very beautifully restored old French farmhouse. The furnishings are lovely and there's everything you need. We loved having coffee and croissants in the morning on the first floor balcony and of course evening drinks on the shaded terrace at the front of the house. We made good use of the bikes and the little tennis court up the road and enjoyed walking too. The little chateau nearby is well worth a visit and the guide was charming - ready to listen to our rather rusty French. We want to go back now and take out the canoos and also revisit some of the lovely little towns nearby. St Cirq-la-Popie is truly stunning. And there was another called Cordes sur Ciel with little winding roads going up and up past interesting little boutiques and restaurants. This time won't be quite so peaceful as we're taking more of the family. We want to show off 'our find.'

Surrounded by a host of Bastide towns,Cordes sur Ceil and St.Cirq-la-Popie to name but two. Fine restaurants and Auberges nearby and in the local villages. An abundance of beautiful Market Towns the most famous being St.Antonin notorious for its Sunday market. The river Aveyron runs through where our three canoes are kept and are available for hire. A 17 kilometre canoe down river is possible. Bike rides,horse riding and tennis(we have the key to the court in Limogne) are all available. If one requires culture, Toulouse, Cahors and Montauban are all a short drive away. Wild life is everywhere, Wild Boar, red squirrels, deer, Kingfishers.

If you are a motorcyclist or enjoy driving the roads are paradise.3 hours to the Mediterranean across some of the finest roads in France or 4 hours to Biarittz and the Atlantic coast which is a surfer’s paradise. Two and a half hours takes you to Andorra and skiing in the winter.
