Come and discover why Down East Magazine named Bowdoinham one of the 'BEST PLACES TO LIVE IN MAINE' in March 2014, and branded it 'THE CRAFTIEST TOWN IN MAINE' in 2008. Renowned for its wonderful community of farmers, gardeners, potters, woodworkers, chefs, carpenters, photographers, fiber artists, musicians, and boat builders, Bowdoinham has its own artisans guild, arts center, and farmers market. Enjoy the way life really should be in Maine, and stay in Bowdoinham, on beautiful Merrymeeting Bay: a rural town that is laid back & relaxed, it is convenient to Bath/Brunswick; Portland; Augusta; & Lewiston/Auburn; and to all that Midcoast Maine has to offer. Many thanks for considering the Bowdoinham Village Guest Suite.
Unique Educational Opportunities: If you are interested in spending your leisure time learning a new craft or enjoying the local arts scene, Bowdoinham offers fabulous opportunities for you! The Long Branch School of Maine, and the Merrymeeting Arts Center both offer opportunities for your creative enrichment, and make this town a uniquely wonderful place to explore and enjoy.
Recreational Opportunities: Midcoast Maine offers so many opportunities for outdoor recreation: boating, hiking, biking, ice fishing, hunting, fishing, paddling, aviation, snowmobiling, snow shoeing, and cross-country skiing. Opportunities to enjoy all of these are right around the corner from the Bowdoinham Village Guest Suite.
Local Attractions: No visit to Maine would be complete without exploring the Old Port in Portland; shopping at LL Bean in Freeport; visiting the world-class Boothbay Botanical Gardens; taking in a show at the Maine State Music Theatre at Bowdoin College; enjoying lunch at Moody's Diner in Waldoboro; viewing an exhibit at the Portland Museum of Art; or renting an ice shack here on the Cathance River--the best ice fishing anywhere! All of these activities are only forty-five minutes or less from the Village Guest Suite.
Greetings from Bowdoinham, Maine. I am Kathy Gallant, owner of the Village Guest Suite, and a Realtor with RE/MAX Riverside in the neighboring town of Topsham. I invite you to visit Bowdoinham and discover the picturesque village that I've been delighted to call home since 1995.

Enjoy 'the way life really should be' in Maine, and stay in Bowdoinham, on beautiful Merrymeeting Bay: a rural town that is laid back & relaxed, and renown for its wonderful community. Described by Down East Magazine as 'A Very Crafty Town' (November 2008), it is comprised of many farmers, artisans, and musicians--and just plain-old-nice folks. Bowdoinham is convenient to Bath/Brunswick; Portland; Augusta; Lewiston/Auburn; and to all that Midcoast Maine has to offer.
Bowdoinham Village is absolutely beautiful--a classic New England Village. The Cathance River flows through town, and to Merrymeeting Bay. A canoe is available to explore both, or bring your kayaks.
My husband, daughter and I had never been to Maine and were visiting for a family wedding. I found this place and the owners were terrific...the suite was clean, quiet and "homey" - not like a hotel. Maine was beautiful and I'm sure we will visit again. We will definitely stay here when we come back. Thanks Kathy for your great hospitality.
Overall this is a good place and beats a hotel any day!The guest suite was very clean, spacious and relaxing, We felt very safe there, however there were only sheers in the windows which was a little uncomfortable since the owners porches are in direct sight of the bedroom/bathroom windows. There are plenty of towels and sheets which we used in the windows for privacy. The weather in Maine allows you to leave the windows open which also allows you to hear everything outside such as the owners working very early in the morning. Being on vacation, we'd prefer to sleep in. This place is conveniently located near I-295 and close to Brunswick and short drives to the ocean. We did not get information about the check-in/check-out time or procedure prior to coming, and I'm not sure if that was the fault of the owners or Home Away since I have never used this sight before. I would recommend this place, but get all the information you need from them prior to coming.
My wife and I were very excited about renting this property. While the property was clean, their were several things such as a cracked sink that could have been fixed. Also the dishes we used for breakfast had to be cleaned in the bathroom. Simple communications by the owner would have been appreciated. Several telephone calls and emails went unanswered before arriving. Also we did not meet with the owner but gad a short meeting with a male figure on parking. Their are lots of places to stay in Maine. I cannot recommend this one.
the guest house is lovely and very very neat and clean. more then enough fresh towels/sheets.
windows in every room to allow that beautiful breeze in.
easy access to interstate and close to every thing you need.
Kathy the owner is very hospitable.
great place and a real deal for the price
The design and construction were beautiful and very comfortable. We were visiting Portland and although it was a little far of a drive back and forth it was actually well worth it to have the peace and quiet of this location. My Wife hates hotels and agreed that this was the best possible choice for our trip and our likes and dislikes.
I have no complaints at all, the lay out and design of the room was perfect for a couple that has semi- opposite sleep schedules. I could sit in the living room and be filtered by any noise I make by 2 doors. This is actually a pretty important issue if I am working online or watching TV and this suite was perfect for such a situation. I imagine that in Summer this would be an amazing location, but in winter not much of a view with everything covered in snow. Very nice location in the little town and the old churches add a pleasant touch. There are also plenty of stores and shopping less than 7mi away so even though it feels like you are far away there are still options for food and supplies. I enjoyed it!
We stayed at this charming suite in a beautiful home in Bowdoinham this weekend. The accommodations and amenities were perfect--very comfortable bedroom, spacious sitting area with sofas, frig, cable tv, ensuite, and all were spotlessly clean. Charming antiques and decorating made for a unique stay. The owners were lovely and helped us with any questions. We would highly recommend this suite if you're looking for accommodations in the Brunswick area. It was far nicer than a hotel room and we had so much more space. Be sure to visit the Town Landing, a local eatery, right down the street at Merrymeeting Bay--a store and restaurant serving a hearty breakfast, homemade soups and chowders, home-baked goodies. They also offer take-out.
