Enjoy 'the way life really should be' in Maine, and stay in Bowdoinham, on beautiful Merrymeeting Bay: a rural town that is laid back & relaxed, and renown for its wonderful community. Described by Down East Magazine as 'A Very Crafty Town' (November 2008 issue), it is comprised of many farmers, artisans, and musicians--and just plain-old-nice folks.

Bowdoinham is convenient to Bath/Brunswick; Portland; Augusta; & Lewiston/Auburn; and to all that Midcoast Maine has to offer. Many thanks for considering the Bowdoinham Village Guest Suite.

Unique Educational Opportunities: If you are interested in spending your leisure time learning a new craft or enjoying the local arts scene, Bowdoinham offers fabulous opportunities for you!  The Long Branch School of Maine, and the Merrymeeting Arts Center both offer opportunities for your creative enrichment, and make this town a uniquely wonderful place to explore and enjoy.

Recreational Opportunities: Midcoast Maine offers so many opportunities for outdoor recreation: boating, hiking, biking, ice fishing, hunting, fishing, paddling, aviation, snowmobiling, snow shoeing, and cross-country skiing. Opportunities to enjoy all of these are right around the corner from the Bowdoinham Village Guest Suite.

Local Attractions: No visit to Maine would be complete without exploring the Old Port in Portland; shopping at LL Bean in Freeport; visiting the world-class Boothbay Botanical Gardens; taking in a show at the Maine State Music Theatre at Bowdoin College; enjoying lunch at Moody's Diner in Waldoboro; viewing an exhibit at the Portland Museum of Art; or renting an ice shack here on the Cathance River--the best ice fishing anywhere! All of these activities are only forty-five minutes or less from the Village Guest Suite.

About Kathy Gallant

My name is Kathy Gallant, and I moved to Portland, Maine from Monroe, Connecticut in August of 1988. In 1995, I purchased a circa 1900 New Englander in the village of Bowdoinham, Maine. When the home next door became available for sale, my husband, Scott, and I purchased it. We had to demolish most of the house and all of the barn, and used the existing footprint to build a house that is currently our residence, as well as home to the Bowdoinham Village Guest Suite.

What makes this apartment unique

Bowdoinham Village is absolutely beautiful--a classic New England Village. The Cathance River flows through town, and to Merrymeeting Bay. A canoe is available to explore both, or bring your kayaks.

Great Place to Escape

The design and construction were beautiful and very comfortable. We were visiting Portland and although it was a little far of a drive back and forth it was actually well worth it to have the peace and quiet of this location. My Wife hates hotels and agreed that this was the best possible choice for our trip and our likes and dislikes.

I have no complaints at all, the lay out and design of the room was perfect for a couple that has semi- opposite sleep schedules. I could sit in the living room and be filtered by any noise I make by 2 doors. This is actually a pretty important issue if I am working online or watching TV and this suite was perfect for such a situation. I imagine that in Summer this would be an amazing location, but in winter not much of a view with everything covered in snow. Very nice location in the little town and the old churches add a pleasant touch. There are also plenty of stores and shopping less than 7mi away so even though it feels like you are far away there are still options for food and supplies. I enjoyed it!

Charming accommodations; a must stay!

We stayed at this charming suite in a beautiful home in Bowdoinham this weekend. The accommodations and amenities were perfect--very comfortable bedroom, spacious sitting area with sofas, frig, cable tv, ensuite, and all were spotlessly clean. Charming antiques and decorating made for a unique stay. The owners were lovely and helped us with any questions. We would highly recommend this suite if you're looking for accommodations in the Brunswick area. It was far nicer than a hotel room and we had so much more space. Be sure to visit the Town Landing, a local eatery, right down the street at Merrymeeting Bay--a store and restaurant serving a hearty breakfast, homemade soups and chowders, home-baked goodies. They also offer take-out.
