Beautifully restored Victorian duplex located in downtown Sonoma, in the coveted Eastside. Wood burning stove. Private patio with barbeque. Inviting pool in rear garden. All surrounded by a rose garden and picket fence. Five blocks to charming Plaza with award winning restaurants and numerous boutiques. Many fine wineries nearby.
'Great Room' has a fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, breakfast bar and dining table; entertainment center, sofa bed and wood burning stove. French side door leads to private patio with grape arbor and gas barbeque.
It's all about location!! Located right in town, walk everywhere!
We love the weather, the private patio for dining al fresco and the location of only a 5 block stroll to the plaza!
After spending a lovely month here in the fall of 2013, we can’t say enough good things about both this charming cottage and the Sonoma community. The cottage was bright, immaculately clean and fully furnished, complete with washer and dryer. Though lacking state-of-the-art TV or gourmet cookware, it included fast wi-fi, a most comfortable bed, luxurious towels, an abundant shower, sunny, quiet patios and a pool. We’ll stay here again at the first opportunity. Likewise the community was endlessly fascinating, whether walking five blocks (or 25 minutes through the Sebastiani vineyard) to Peet’s coffee near the square, or exploring the town’s markets and shops, or driving north through the wineries (especially on Crush Festival weekend!) or westward to the Pacific. The Larkspur ferry to the City is 30 minutes away, the stunning Weill concert hall at Sonoma State is closer still, and Napa (if you must) a short drive. For years we’ve rented for a month all over Europe, Mexico and California. This is the first place where we’re tempted to settle. Thanks to our gracious hosts for making it so exceedingly enjoyable.
My husband and I recently stayed at this lovely cottage for a month, awaiting our new home to be ready. It totally exceeded our expectations. The design combines comfort, charm and efficiency, resulting in a very relaxing and enjoyable stay. The pool was very refreshing and the side yard was our favorite spot during the evenings. With the grapes climbing up the patio cover, and the perfumed aroma from the star jasmine, I could sit there forever. And to top all of this, the owners are very gracious and accommodating. We were even treated to a sampling of their recently smoked steelhead fish. Everything we needed for a month was at our finger tips, including a washer and dryer.
We highly recommend this spot for a nice getaway in the wine country, just a short walk to the plaza, in a very sought after neighborhood.
I must include that this is the first review for anything that I have ever written, but felt I needed to do this. It truly is a gem and great find.
Beautiful cottage in a wonderful location. For us from NYC this was a dream come true. Yes we do have Hamptons & the rest on the East Coast, but not for this price and with this climate - one month of sunshine with a light breeze. The cottage is located in absolutely the best neighborhood - East Sonoma. Ten minutes walk from the mail square. We couldn't wait for the temperature to go slightly down in the evening so we can walk around, enjoy all the beautiful houses in the neighborhood and finish the evening in one of the great restaurants on the main square.
The only "problem" was that we felt so conformable in the cottage, enjoying the pool, the bedroom overlooking the pool the the patio in the shade with a barbecue, that we did not spend enough time exploring the Sonoma County ;)
Perfect! That was the way I described this rental once we arrived and took a quick look around. And after spending October of 2012 there my wife and I had the same opinion.
This home is really ideally located for a stay in wine country. There are easy day trips to Napa Valley, Sonoma Valley and even the more Northern wineries. We did day trips to Point Reyes and Bodega Bay as well as Muir Woods (spectacular!). And for our time in San Francisco we took the ferry from Larkspur and got a Muni-pass at the ferry terminal that got us day long rides on the cable cars, buses, and trolleys.
You can walk to one winery with two more of the oldest in the state are a long walk or short drive away with literally hundreds more beyond that. And you can walk to the town square and all its shops quite easily. Walks through the eclectic neighborhood are delightful and there was never a time we felt unsafe or intimidated as we walked about.
The owners are doing extensive renovations on "their" side of the house. Try to get an invite over and marvel at what they have done to lovingly expand and restore this house. They are unobtrusive yet very helpful - you could not ask for more. The rental was a perfect size for two (although it could handle three or four with the sofa-bed) and had every amenity we could have wanted. The recently installed central A/C and heat was a welcome addition to what is shown on the web site.
If the use of the pool and/or hot tub is critical for you I would advise that you get details on that before you book since I think there are some renovations planned to them. The pool is unheated and some repairs are needed to the spa but I am confident the owner will have that well in hand shortly. The pool and hot tub were not big draws for us but even with some minor inconvenience there we stand by our initial thought - a perfect, inexpensive, wonderful rental experience.
My husband and I spent the month of April at this property. It is a cute little house, nicely decorated, Lovely landscaping, with a side patio and front porch. We were very comfortable there.
It is in an excellent part of Sonoma not far from the Sonoma plaza.
We are planning to return next year and will stay a little longer.
