The Shipwright Suite is a unique two bedroom apartment on the top floor of our heritage building. Wake up to views of the Harbour Bridge, and enjoy the view from the living area. The apartment has exposed original sandstone walls throughout. The spacious living area has all luxury mod cons.

The gourmet kitchen is a charming space with raised ceilings, exposed beams and clever lighting. It is sheltered from the dining and living areas, but boasts a grand view of the Harbour Bridge as you prepare your meals on our kitchen island. Four gas stoves, a full sized oven, microwave and full sized fridge will make the most of our fresh Australian produce. A dishwasher and dishwashing liquid/tablets provided. Thoughtful storage areas, a large countertop and a breakfast nook will delight every day.

The laundry area is hidden away with a sink, washing machine/dryer, a drying rack as well as an iron and ironing board.

Sandstone walls line the bedroom, with a separate entry for the ensuite bathroom. See Facility description.

This apartment is popular as a base for corporate travellers as it is ideal for private meetings and small gatherings. High speed WiFi and also cabled connection with no daily limit will allow frequent video conferencing. Morning commutes are traffic-free and reliable on the ferry.

Our unique leafy harbourside location is perfect for ship-spotting and a city escape in a self-catering apartment (produce markets and health food store nearby, a local supermarket and grocer 5 minutes away, Sydney fish markets a short drive away).

An ideal 1km from the hustle and bustle of the CBD, Sydney's ferry service is among the best in the world and will take you to the historic Rocks area and Opera House, via a stop at Milson's Point for photos under the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Generally a 20 minute trip, but a lifetime memory.

The Balmain East ferry wharf is located just metres away from our doorstep so you can treat yourself to Sydney Harbour ferry rides daily. The Circular Quay to Darling Harbour ferry loops at our wharf every half hour. Only a short 10 minute traffic-free scenic ferry ride to King St Wharf, Darling Park, Darling Harbour, Pyrmont Bay and Jones Bay Wharf. The Growers' Market is held every first Saturday of the month, and the ferry ride to and from the market to the apartment is a little taste of idyllic island life.

When you do venture across the harbour, Sydney Ferries will provide the most memorable experience to see our most loved sights.

Sydney is a city for all four seasons. In summer, festivals dot the city's venues every January weekend and Australia Day with the busiest being Sydney Festival and Mardi Gras. Easter and Anzac Day celebrations in autumn, also Opera on the Harbour. In winter, the winds are calmer and is perfect for sailing in the day, and at night for Vivid Light Festival. Winter is also peak time for cultural events like Sydney Writer's Fest, Sydney Film Festival and NAIDOC. The Darling Harbour Circular Quay ferry loop services Balmain East. It passes Goat Island, Lavender Bay, Luna Park and bobs under the Sydney Harbour Bridge for beautiful photo opportunities with the Sydney Opera House. Stop at Opera Bar, Botanical Gardens and venture to Mrs Macquaries Chair for the best of Sydney's endless summer. Change ferries here for daytrips to Manly, Taronga Zoo and Watson's Bay. Tall ships and specialty tours depart from here too.

To the west of the wharves, are The Museum of Contemporary Art, The Rocks historic fine dining precinct, Bridgeclimb and the Pylons at Sydney Harbour Bridge as well as Sydney Observatory and Argyle Steps.

The Art Gallery of New South Wales, Hyde Park, The Australian Museum and Sky Tower are within minutes of the CBD - the 442 bus will take you near Town Hall and the Queen Victoria Building.

In Balmain, take an easy historic walk through Darling Street or detour to Ballast Point Park. The peninsula counts numerous local celebrities and national icons who grew up in the area. Most famously Dawn Fraser who learnt to swim at the pool at Elkington Park, one of our loveliest outdoor summer pools.

Fully refurbished in 2011, all mod cons. Unwind in our spacious bathtub with rims wide enough for candlelit evenings. A flexible showerhead with easy controls for temperature and pressure have been installed, as well as grip railing. A non-slip mat is provided, and step stool optional. All bathroom amenities provided, hair dryer and straightener provided. Fresh white towels and bathrobes replaced during housekeeping. Regular cleaning can be scheduled either twice weekly or weekly.

  • Original sandstone walls feature in the bedroom and overlook Thornton Park with glimpses of the harbour. Newly renovated bedroom opens out to views of the harbour (and TV). The bedroom can be closed off with sliding doors for privacy and to keep out morning sunshine. King bed, can be split into two single beds. Both bedrooms have a spacious wardrobe ideal for long stays, a laptop sized secure safe and several power outlets for charging your electronics. Beds are fitted with a luxurious feather topper, a selection of pillows and clean white cotton sheets. Windows are fitted with blockout blinds.Heating and airconditioning in apartment extends to the bedroom. Ensuite is located just outside the bedroom via separate door. Portable cot available at $30 per night, can be placed in the bedroom, only bedsheet provided. You will need to bring other items for the cot.
