Linden Hall Farm Guest House
A Sojourn in the Country
Our Northern Virginia Guest House is your home in the country for a week or a weekend -- a peaceful and central location near the many attractions in Northern Virginia, Washington DC, Western Maryland, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.
Enjoy a rural setting with upscale accommodations and privacy in a newly renovated farmhouse (circa 1790's) located on 35 acres in historic Loudoun County. The guest house is unique and separate from the main house, giving you your own private entrance, a fully equipped country kitchen, a living room and studio, so guests have plenty of space for privacy or gatherings. There are two beautifully decorated bedrooms upstairs, a small bedroom downstairs off the kitchen, and a newly renovated bathroom. The guest house features two porches, with one overlooking the gardens and the Blue Ridge mountains. There are stables and a ring available for horses.
It just is a wonderful, peaceful, private setting!
Come hike, bike or ride your horse on the 184.5 mile long Chesapeake & Ohio Canal located along the north bank of the Potomac River, starting in Washington, DC and ending in Cumberland, MD. Hike the Appalachian Trail. Raft or kayak on the Potomac or Shenandoah Rivers, or visit historic Leesburg, Harper's Ferry or the many local Civil War battlefields, all within an hour or less scenic drive. Or, you can relax and enjoy the view of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains from your private porch, while sipping wine from the local vineyards.
Visit award winning Virginia wineries, just minutes from the house. Dine at excellent restaurants within 30 minutes drive. Shop at antiques shops, Leesburg Outlets Mall, or in prominent locations such as Middleburg VA. Spend an evening at the Charles Town WV race track and casino. See museums, from the Brunswick Railroad Museum (5 min) to the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum (40 min).
A commuter train to Washington is just 5 min away. Or just relax and enjoy the quiet setting.
Initial continental breakfast makings provided in a complete country kitchen.
Bart and Carol are your hosts at Linden Hall. The property was acquired in 1997. The previous owners had purchased the home in the 1960s and spent over 20 years restoring the rundown buildings, for which they won the 1984 Loudoun Preservation Society Merit Award. Since then, the Hodgson’s have continued to enhance the home inside and out. The Guest House was previously a rental home. In the Summer of 2009, the Hodgson’s decided to create an upscale lodging which would emphasize the rural setting and availability of local attractions. Over the following months, they labored to upgrade the kitchen, bathroom and furnishings throughout the residence.
The doors to Linden Hall Guest House opened in November 2010.
The Owner purchased this chateau / country house in 1997
Warm, comfortable, and in a relaxing country setting central to many activities.
My sister and I just spent a fantastic 10 days at Linden Hall Farms while visiting our niece in Lovettsville, VA. The Guest House was absolutely charming, with plenty of space, and beautifully furnished. The owners, Carol and Bart, have put so much thought and preparation into making their guest's stay enjoyable. The refrigerator and pantry were well stocked with breakfast items, and I even found a lace table cloth in the cupboard to use when we put on a tea for my niece and her children. Set amongst the beautiful, rolling hills of the Virginia countryside this well cared for historical farm offered us beautiful views as we enjoyed morning coffee and Sunday afternoon dessert on the back porch. The kids really enjoyed getting to know the donkeys, too. Both my sister, and I, look forward to returning for another stay, next time we visit the area.
Before our visit at Linden Hall farm ended, we were already thinking of when we should come back. There are many reasons this B&B is highly recommended; the scenery at the farm is beautiful, the house is clean and welcoming, Bart and Carol offer exceptional customer service- they even had the fridge stocked with breakfast food for us, which included eggs from their own chickens.
There are plenty of things to do near the farm too! We had an amazing Valentines dinner at Patowmack Farm (highly recommended) and enjoyed a few wineries and breweries in Purcellville. Adroit Theory Brewery and Crushed Cellars were among our favorites. We still have a list of other wineries and breweries that we want to try on our next visit. I'm looking forward to planning our next trip to Linden Hall farm.
We met from three corners for a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday on the farm. Tha animals, fields, gardens and long paved drive gave wonderful outdoor opportunites for all three generations. Plus nearby historical sites and vineyards gave side trips. The resident owners are friendly, accommodating and eager to please yet not intrusive.
A very clean, family friendly home in which to relax and cook up a feast!! We'll be back!
A truly delightful experience overall. Spacious accommodations, beautiful scenery, and warm and thoughtful hosts. One of the best B&B visits we have ever had.
I could say our third trip was the charm, but so were visits one and two. A trip to Linden Hall Farm has become a traditional for our family.
Every time I drive up, I am struck by just how beautiful the property is, with the mountains in the background and vivid green everywhere. The house is also beautifully maintained and peacefully decorated, with every bit of equipment you could ever need. The refrigerator is stocked with all the makings of breakfast, including fresh eggs from the farm.
The home is more beautiful than in the photos. I love to have a cup of tea in the upstairs sitting room and enjoy the scenery from the window seat or a glass of wine from the porch.
Bart and Carol are unobtrusive but kind hosts. They make you feel like the farm is your own, but are always available to offer recommendations or provide any kind of help you may need.
My 4-year-old adores feeding the miniature donkeys, and riding on the tire swing.
Linden Hall Farm is special place. I know we'll return for visit number four.
Linden Hall Farm is an absolute gem. My family has visited twice now and hope to come back again.
The location is beautiful and incredibly peaceful. It's impossible to feel stress in such a lovely environment.
The house is nicely decorated and perfectly-maintained. The kitchen has every bit of equipment you might need. And when I mentioned I'd be cooking pasta for a special meal, Bart carried over an extra large pasta pot.
My son adores visiting the mini donkeys and feeding them. Playing on the private porch at the back of the house is also great fun for him. It's an ideal spot to sip some wine and enjoy the view.
Linden Hall Farm is a perfect place when you want to do nothing. But if you want to fill your days, there's lot of historic sights nearby. You-pick farms seem to be everywhere. And the son of the owner has several fabulous restaurants nearby.
I tell my friends in DC about this special place all the time -- and then hope it doesn't become so popular that I won't be able to visit.
