Overview

Akron House Rental Photos and Description

3 bedrooms, 1 full and 1/2 bathrooms, comfortably sleeps 6

This beautifully remodeled lake-view home with a nautical theme, adjacent to the Historic Portage Lakes, is perfect for that special Romantic Getaway - Fishing Trip - Peaceful Relaxation Vacation or Out-Of-Town Guests.

The Nautical House is owned and managed by Roy Baine, owner of Baine's Pier 619 Pontoon Boat Rentals, and located directly behind Pier 619, and Mr. Baine's residence.

The 2-story home has 1 and 1/2 baths and 3 bedrooms to comfortably sleep 6. A full kitchen, dining room and living room. Pontoon boats, kayaks, and a small fishing boat are also available to rent from Pier 619.

Historic Dietz's Landing restaurant is within a very short walking distance. The Upper Deck bar and grill, a one-time stage coach depot, is right across the lake. Also within a short distance are Turkeyfoot golf course, farmers markets, grocery stores and a mall.

BOATING & FISHING: For the fisherman, Portage Lakes offers a wide variety of exciting freshwater fishing including largemouth bass, black and white crappie, bluegill, redear sunfish, pumpkinseed, warmouth sunfish, yellow perch, channel catfish, bullhead, white sucker, and carp. Crappie and bass fishing is particularly productive during April, May, and June; bluegill and catfish angling during the summer. Ice fishing for bluegill and crappie is also very popular in the Portage Lakes. Bass fishing tournaments are held throughout the Spring and Fall.

ATTRACTIONS: WGC-Bridgestone Invitational World Series of Golf - Firestone Country Club, Football Hall of Fame,

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Museum, Cleveland Horseshoe Casino, Hard Rock Rocksino, Thistledown Racino and Race Track, Akron Inventors Museum, Cedar Point Amusement Park, and Sugarcreek and Walnut Creek Amish communities are just a few of the attractions from Cleveland to Canton and in between. Also less than an hours drive to the Cleveland Browns and Indians stadiums and the Cavs arena.

Just a 10 minute drive to the University of Akron, known the world over for their research in polymer science, and EJ Thomas Preforming Arts Hall.

Our 3rd Year

  • 5 of 5

Our six 1969 High School Reunion ladies have stayed at the Nautical House 3 years running and just love this house. We have rented a pontoon the past two years and suggest it for anyone who loves a wonderful few hours on the lakes.

Perfect place for small group or family

  • 5 of 5

Had a great time. Arrived with 3 buddies for a golf weekend. Had not planned to play Turkeyfoot course across the street, but what a pleasant surprise!. The house was clean, comfortable and had all promised amenities. Close to lake and boats and all the golf courses we planned to play - including Firestone. Will definitely stay here again if in the area.

Immaculate home; more affordable than a hotel

  • 5 of 5

Perfect home for our families last minuete trip to Ohio. Our family of four needed a comfortable place to stay for a week while visiting relatives. We found the property to be a perfect location to enjoy the surrounding lakes which had plenty of restruants right on the water nearby. We have vacationed around the Portage Lakes durring the summer and have had a great time. We were very pleased to see how beautiful this ares is durring this time of year. I would recomend that anyone coming to the area stay at this property over any hotels in the area. For the price and the excelent quality of the spacious home that you get you cant find a better deal. You get all the amenities of a hotel with the comfort of feeling like your at home. Very pleased and we promise to come back and see Roy durring the summer on our return trip for another stay and to rent one of his pontoon boats.

Thanks for a beautiful place to stay.

Quaint nautical vacation home.

  • 5 of 5

This nautical house was far more than I expected. The interior was very well decorated with quaint little touches. Every room was spotlessly clean. The beds were as comfortable as home. Our beautiful view of Portage Lakes was a nice touch. I would love to return during warmer weather to spend a leisurely day on the water. Will definitely be recommending this vacation hme to friends!!!

First Summer in Ohio

  • 5 of 5

I enjoyed the house very much. Great location. Lots to do. Perfect time of year. The house was spacious and worked well for extra guests. Roy was great to work with and the lake was awesome.

Suggest trying all the restaurants on the shore - food was outstanding.

Definite do-over.
