The Salty Dog - Perfect Fall Get Away
Submitted: December 29, 2012

Every other year, my family visits the Rockport area to enjoy the fall foliage and Halloween festivities. This October we (4 adults and 2 teenagers) had the pleasure of staying at the Salty Dog. The Salty Dog has very cozy cottage-like feel with all the amenities of home. The accommodations are crisp, clean, and very comfortable. The kitchen was stocked with all essentials; the den - with a flat screen TV, games, books, magazines, and comfy couch - made for a perfect gathering place; and each bedroom served as a relaxing retreat at the end of a busy day.
The Salty Dog is perfectly located and easy to find. The house is nestled in a quiet residential neighborhood just a short walk to downtown Rockport and Bearskin Neck. Each morning, we would walk to town for breakfast taking in the beautiful scenery along the way. In the afternoons, we visited Gloucester, Salem, Magnolia, Halibut Point State Park, and Ipswich - all just a short scenic drive.
The owners, Justin and Marcie, were very helpful and attentive. They were very responsive to email inquires prior to our arrival date; so much so, we felt like we knew them before we got there! Shortly after our arrival, Justin introduced himself and we had a nice conversation. He let us know how to reach him and Marcie if we needed anything during our stay, but we never had to call since the Salty Dog had everything we needed!
We've stayed in Rockport quite a few times. We tried the smaller motor inns, and the larger hotels with indoor pools. We enjoyed those visits, however, we highly recommend the Salty Dog to anyone traveling to the area. From now on, we’ll be staying at the Salty Dog. We found our home away from home!
