Welcome to the original 'Ranch House.' Come relax in the peaceful setting of a historic cattle ranch that rests along the Burnt River, approximately one quarter mile west of the Snake River. This unique property has been a family treasure since the 1940s and holds a dear place in our hearts. We would like to share our property and hope others enjoy it as much as we do. Whether you are seeking a relaxing vacation to get away from the city and enjoy the stars or you are a fisherman or water enthusiast, this is the place for you.

My family has owned the Ranch property since the 1940s. From that time up until just a few years ago it is was a working cattle ranch. As a family we hope to continue the tradition of having family gathering and reunions at the property. During the times we are not using the property, as a family, we have decided to share it with others so they can experience not only a piece of our family's history, but get a sense of the true rural eastern Oregon lifeways.
Jessica purchased this house in 1940
You can unplug, 'get off the grid', and experience a peacefulness that you might have forgotten that exists in this bustling and techy world that we now live in. You might have forgotten how many stars are in the sky. You might not know that the coyotes howl at 4 am or the birds wake you up every morning at 7 am. Did you know that the deer graze along the fields and mountain sides at dusk? See photos if you don't believe me.
Living in the city for so long, you might want to get back to a more peaceful time and that is why I say, take a step back in time and experience what life was like before our world got so loud and busy.
We had a wonderful stay at the Old Ranch House In Huntington, OR. Not only was it centrally located for all of our group, it provided a good mix of amenities for the composition of our group with plenty of bedrooms/bathrooms, a large enough kitchen for our ambitious meal plans and a large space downstairs for some spirited table tennis matches. Information provided on the VRBO site and by the owner nicely matched what was available at the Ranch House. Kitchen implements were as promised and we took along the special implements we needed for our meals. Bedrooms, baths, living room, etc. were all as described and the house was well kept. The property is in a very pleasant valley setting with the Burnt River nearby, providing ample opportunities for walks in addition to access the to Snake River valley and its tributaries where we enjoyed three days of upland game bird hunting. The rustic setting combined with the general cleanliness of the property was a good match for our group and the three day bird hunt, the large front porch giving us ample room to remove boots and hunting clothes. We will likely return to this property in the future and we certainly recommend the property for anyone who wants to spend some quality time in the vicinity of Hells Canyon National Recreational Area or the general Snake River.
I had a business trip in the area and decided to stay outside of the city and glad I did. The house was *very spacious and immaculately kept ranch house. The caretakers are very nice if you happen to meet them and booking was quick & easy. This place is perfect for a couple or a family looking to find a fun place in nature. The near by town is quaint and the nearby restaurant has a tasty menu. We plan on vacationing here again sometime to explore more of the area!
Wow! Our family had a wonderful and very exciting vacation! Such a breath taking adventure with a rural setting and so close to the boat ramp! So loved the peaceful deck, sipping our coffee! Family time is a must and this was the perfect spot! Thanks bunches Jessica! We will be back next year!
was as advertised. clean and spacious. care taker's house "grandma's" was a bit closer than i envisioned. everything needed to cook your meals(except the food) and an outdoor grill! River and creek a short drive.
Needs a new dryer. being responsible for washing and drying all towels--but towels took Forever to dry. We air dried for several hours but still barely made check out time---waiting for towels to dry. other than that--no complaints! THX would recommend.
Our group had a great time again as this was our 2nd year at the ranch.
Your classic ranch home is comfortable, roomy and fits our needs perfectly.
Our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer....
We'll be back again!....
This is our second time staying at the ranch. This house will accommodate allot of people!! Huge deck with plenty of shade, plenty of sleeping space upstairs & down. Kids had a blast playing on the Ping Pong Table. Tons of Parking space for boats & campers. House was furnished with all the normal creature comforts. AC works great in the house..as it can get pretty warm in Huntington during the summer! Only a couple miles from the Snake river & boat launch. We were very happy with our stay here. Can't wait till next year!! Jessica is always prompt with her emails...she is a pleasure to work with. Thanks again Jessica for letting stay in your home! The CAT FISH KLAN!!!
The Ranch House is conveniently located 5 miles east of Interstate 84, approximately 70 miles west of Boise, Idaho and 45 miles east of Baker City, Oregon. The ranch property rests along the Burnt River near the confluence of the Snake River. Two boat launches are a few miles away. In addition, Anthony Lakes Ski Resort is about 70 miles away. For fishemans. the annual Catfish Derby happens every Memorial Day weekend. And if you are into hunting and pulled a tag in the Lookout Mountain region, this is a great place to stay.
