About Emma Lundie
My name is Emma and I live and work in London with my partner and our 2 sons, who are 10 and 5 years old. We have always lived in London but have traveled a lot. Our favourite place in the world is Sardinia!
Emma Lundie purchased this house in 2005
Why Emma Lundie chose Tresnuraghes - Porto Alabe
We had our first holiday on the West coast of Sardinia in 2003 and we quite simply fell in love with the area. For us this area offered us the 'real' Sardinia - beautiful beaches and secluded coves, fascinating history and culture, warm and welcoming people and importantly for us, amazing food!
After several return visits we decided we would like a place of our own there. Somewhere that would be a lovely place to holiday and to show our children another simpler way of life, far removed from our city life.
We had many wonderful trips viewing many properties, none were quite right for us and after a year of looking, we thought we might have to give up on our dream. We decided we would have one last weekend of viewing houses and finally, the last property we were taken to was the house for us, a village house in the heart of Tresnuraghes. It needed a lot of work but we could see how this house could be the perfect home away from home for us and within a couple of months it was ours!
We spent about 18 months renovating the house, mostly overseeing the work from London and amazingly, all went to plan!
We are now fortunate to have a home which is comfortable and family friendly, a peaceful retreat in the middle of real Sardinian village life.
Life is busy in London so we love it when the time comes to escape to Sardinia to Tresnuraghes and to see our friends there, who always welcome us with open arms and often a bottle of home made wine or some seasonal food produce!
We also enjoy sharing our home there with visitors and we are lucky to have Pamela and Andy (who live locally) looking after the house for us, making sure that our guests are looked after. It is wonderful to hear how guests have enjoyed the island and the house as much as we do!
We hope we can welcome you to Tresnuraghes soon!
What makes this house unique
I love that when you approach our house through the narrow village street our house looks small from the outside, but when you open our front door you are welcomed into a large spacious retreat which almost has a Moroccan feel about it and so we have taken that inspiration and decorated the house with a Moorish flavour.
The house has a large amount of living space, both indoors and out making it a great house for a large family or sets of friends as you can always find your own space to have quiet time on your own. I personally love sitting on the roof terrace in the evenings, listening to the gentle chatter of people in the village and the chime of the church bells. At night the stars are breathtaking from here too.
The house has lots of equipment and fun stuff for babies and children. We also have equipment to keep toddlers safe such as stair gates.
One of the best things about our house is our beds! We brought them all the way over from the UK along with feather duvets and pillows. It is unusual to have such large, comfortable beds in Sardinia and our guests often comment on how well they sleep in our house.
Guestbook comments from the owner
Just a quick note to say thanks for your directions and local info, you have a beautifully restored house in a lovely village which was enjoyed by all my family. We were blessed with the weather and on behalf of [all our family] we would all like to thank you for a lovely place to stay whilst on our holidays.
