My name is Emma and I live and work in London with my partner and our 2 sons, who are 10 and 5 years old. We have always lived in London but have traveled a lot. Our favourite place in the world is Sardinia!

Emma Lundie purchased this house in 2005

We had our first holiday on the West coast of Sardinia in 2003 and we quite simply fell in love with the area. For us this area offered us the 'real' Sardinia - beautiful beaches and secluded coves, fascinating history and culture, warm and welcoming people and importantly for us, amazing food!

After several return visits we decided we would like a place of our own there. Somewhere that would be a lovely place to holiday and to show our children another simpler way of life, far removed from our city life.

We had many wonderful trips viewing many properties, none were quite right for us and after a year of looking, we thought we might have to give up on our dream. We decided we would have one last weekend of viewing houses and finally, the last property we were taken to was the house for us, a village house in the heart of Tresnuraghes. It needed a lot of work but we could see how this house could be the perfect home away from home for us and within a couple of months it was ours!

We spent about 18 months renovating the house, mostly overseeing the work from London and amazingly, all went to plan!

We are now fortunate to have a home which is comfortable and family friendly, a peaceful retreat in the middle of real Sardinian village life.

Life is busy in London so we love it when the time comes to escape to Sardinia to Tresnuraghes and to see our friends there, who always welcome us with open arms and often a bottle of home made wine or some seasonal food produce!

We also enjoy sharing our home there with visitors and we are lucky to have Pamela and Andy (who live locally) looking after the house for us, making sure that our guests are looked after. It is wonderful to hear how guests have enjoyed the island and the house as much as we do!

We hope we can welcome you to Tresnuraghes soon!

I love that when you approach our house through the narrow village street our house looks small from the outside, but when you open our front door you are welcomed into a large spacious retreat which almost has a Moroccan feel about it and so we have taken that inspiration and decorated the house with a Moorish flavour.

The house has a large amount of living space, both indoors and out making it a great house for a large family or sets of friends as you can always find your own space to have quiet time on your own. I personally love sitting on the roof terrace in the evenings, listening to the gentle chatter of people in the village and the chime of the church bells. At night the stars are breathtaking from here too.

The house has lots of equipment and fun stuff for babies and children. We also have equipment to keep toddlers safe such as stair gates.

One of the best things about our house is our beds! We brought them all the way over from the UK along with feather duvets and pillows. It is unusual to have such large, comfortable beds in Sardinia and our guests often comment on how well they sleep in our house.

AN EXCELLENT STAY FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY

  • 5 of 5
Tresnuraghes was an excellent, relaxed place, and the pizzas were good. The house itself was brilliant; spacious and comfortable. Everything was clean and tidy when we arrived, and the little contact we needed with the owner during our two week stay went smoothly through the local contact. The kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans and a little food stuff, but maybe lacking a good quality cutting knife. We used the backyard terrace every day for our breakfast, and the children loved the outdoor shower and the three resident gekkos on the wall above it. We were also very thankful for the opportunity to borrow beach mats and parasoles from the backroom!

We never really got around to seeing a whole lot of the island, but what we saw was beautiful. With two children in the back of the car, going for the long drives never really was an option. But we found our way down to Oristano, which was lovely, and up to Oliena and Orgosolo, which was spectacular (especially with all the fascinating wall murials in Orgosolo), and a day up to Castelsardo. Oh, and a trip to Grotto di Nettuno, which was fun on a rather stormy day. Other than that we hung out on secluded beaches collecting beach kiwis, made friends with the amiable baker down the street and the cool girl serving the pizzas, and ate copious amounts of gelato.

We would recommend this house both to families wanting to take advantage of Sardinias beach life without having to actually live in the hustle and bustle of the beach resorts, and to those who want a base camp for seeing the beautiful island of Sardinia.

Owner's Response: We are always delighted to hear how guests enjoy the house and area as much as we do - it sounds like you saw some of the beautiful parts of the island whilst enjoying a perfectly relaxing time on the beach. We appreciate this feedback and of course will get a new cutting knife for the kitchen!

WONDERFUL PLACE TO STAY!

  • 5 of 5
We thoroughly enjoyed a super week in this stunning house at the beginning of May, as guests of the owner.

The pictures give an accurate impression of the house which is very spacious and airy with plenty of different areas to sit and relax and eat etc, both inside and out. It really does feel like a home from home.

The beds are very comfortable and there is a plentiful supply of fresh, good quality linen. In the well-equipped kitchen we were able to cater quite easily for ten people.

We enjoyed exploring the village which lies in breathtaking countryside. There are excellent restaurants within walking distance; a short drive away are great beaches and the beautiful local town of Bosa.

This house comes highly recommended to anyone visiting this part of Sardinia.

AWFUL.BE VERY CAUTIOUS.HOUSE SMELLS OF CAT URINE!

  • 1 of 5
I have never written a bad review but the experience with this home and owner warrant such. The owner not only mislead about their house and the village but cares little about you and your experience.

Be very cautious this is the house and town you want to spend your holiday in.
The photos here are not representative of the house you arrive to. Not only is the house dirty, a messy kitchen full of old stale food. It is the overwhelming smell of CAT URINE and DAMP that will hit you the minute you walk through the doors.

We raised this issue, amongst others with the owner on arrival, they told us to contact their local 'representative'. The representative readily admitted that the house wasnt ready for guests and had not been ventilated all winter.

The house itself is 'tired' having been renovate 7 years ago. There is nowhere comfortable to sit in the evenings as the sofa is damp and smells. The terrace is nothing like the photo; it is covered in cat + bird feces, old wires strewn about and old dead plants. There is no view. The bath taps dont work. There are workmans tools lying about and boxes of plumbing just left on the floor. This list goes on and on...

Be very aware of the type of town it is. And this is where you want to spend your holiday. The local supermarket charged us twice for the most expensive items. The pizzeria (which the owners list as being wonderful) use pre-bought bases and cheap ingredients, to create inedible pizzas.

The owner did not deal with any of the issues raised satisfactorily. Worst of all they were rude and abrupt in their dealings.

Owner's Response: Our house is a lovely home from home in a rural Sardinian village where we & our many guests have spent happy holidays. We would like to address the disappointing comments made here:

Our handling of the situation: Despite every attempt made by me & our local representative to speak & meet with these guests during their stay, they would not make themselves available & would only communicate via sms. Sadly, they did not afford us the opportunity to resolve any issues, or to verify their claims. The onus was clearly on us to respond to any issues raised & the suggestion that we merely told them to contact our rep is untrue.

To enable our guests to move to a hotel, we offered a refund of the rental price, less the deposit + one night’s stay. We transferred this the day they arrived back in the UK, as we advised. Throughout this period we maintained a calm & professional approach. All correspondence is on record.

Cleanliness: The house is thoroughly cleaned & prepared by the managers of our house before each guest’s arrival.

Cat urine: The house is secluded and walled & there is no access to the house by cats.

Unventilated house: We had stayed in the house ourselves, just prior to this guest and it was fully ventilated during our week’s stay. In addition, the house was occupied in April. Our representative prepares the house before each guest’s arrival.

Stale Food: It has always been customary to leave any fresh unused food items for following guests. Our house manager always ensures that only fresh items (& a bottle of wine) are left.

Bathroom: This party was 2 adults + 1 baby. We have 3 bathrooms in the house, 2 with shower + bath. 1 of these baths currently has its taps shut off & is due to be repaired, however it is inaccurate to suggest there were no bath facilities or that tools were out.

The terrace: If there was any mess on the terrace that had occurred before arrival, we would have been happy to clear it had we been given the opportunity. There is a photo of a view from the roof terrace in our listing.

The “town”: We advertise that Tresnuraghes is a village, not a town. It is a quiet rural and typical Sardinian village.

Criticism of other local business’: Regretfully, these accusations are made at business' unable to defend themselves here, but a pizzeria in this region of Italy serving pizzas with pre-made bases would be out of business very quickly!

We look forward to welcoming future guests to our home.

A LOVELY PLACE TO STAY

  • 5 of 5
We have just returned from a holiday in Sardinia. This was our first visit and we weren't disappointed. The photographs accurately display this lovely house which is very comfortable and situated in a small village in the hills. There are several small shops, a pizzeria and local cafe. The village is close to Bosa, a beautiful town about an hour's drive from Alghero and the beauty of the island takes your breath away! There are several lovely beaches nearby as too some interesting drives into the countryside and some fantastic restaurants.
The owner of the property responds immediately to any requests for information and gives very helpful advice and directions.
We would happily recommend this house which is suitable for both couples and families.

THE MOORE FAMILY, AUGUST 2009

  • 5 of 5
I would seriously recommend this house to anyone with a small (or large!) family as it really has everything you need. We stayed here with our 2 small children (aged 4 and 7) and they absolutely adored it. It has been very tastefully restored and had buckets of room, and the outside courtyards were wonderful in the evening. The kitchen is extremely well kitted out and it is a true 'home from home', giving you a perfect base from which to explore the surrounding areas. If you are thinking about staying in this area then I promise you that you won't be disappointed!
