A Beautiful Hideaway

Just had a thoroughly romantic long weekend at this truly delightful cottage nestling in the village of Pinhal just below the historic city of the Queens - the tiny walled city of Obidos. My 4th visit. Great as a romantic getaway or for groups of friends and also for families with older children. This little house has everything you could need; the comfy kitchen/living area with satellite TV - keeps teenagers amused - and all the kitchen equipment you could need, leads through a light airy dining room to the sunny, private courtyard complete with barbecue, raised flower beds, tables/chairsand sun loungers. A wonderful spot for lazy breakfasts. The romantic downstairs double bedroom has a fourposter and it's own bathroom. Waking up to watch swallows through the skylight is a delight. A large main bathroom is also downstairs and has washing machine and a tumble dryer - great after days on the beach. Upstairs one bedroom has three beds and plenty of room for teenage lads to spread their stuff. My daughter has previously languished like a princess in the pretty other double bedroom - period furniture and crisp Egyptian cotton sheets under dark wood beams. The location is superb for exploring the beautiful and historic Obidos with its medieval walls, narrow streets, tumbling flowers, restaurants and bars plus all the region. Orchard strewn countryside hills take you to Peniche's long white sand surf beaches, bustling Foz do Alreho or the quiet sandy lagoon at Salir Do Porto, all only 20 minutes away. A little shop is just next door for essentials and a supermarket 5 minutes drive up the road. All this and it's just an hour from Lisbon.
