My family loved our stay at this cozy mountain retreat. Bob was easy to reach anytime we needed anything and provided everything we could need to feel at home in his chalet. Our trip to and from Killington to ski was a breeze. It took us 10 minutes to reach Snowshed lodge and be among the first on the slopes, and at the end of a long day skiing with our 4 year old son, we were quickly back relaxing by the wood stove fire and in the hot tub before dinner. The house was clean and inviting, and the kitchen was fully stocked with the essentials to cook our own meals, saving us from eating out all the time. Although we did enjoy a few drinks and appetizers at the Back Behind Saloon which is right across the road from the driveway. Great wings and unique atmosphere. We spent our mornings on the porch with a cup of coffee, taking in the beautiful hillside views and quiet while the snow fell. The morning we left, there was a plow there first thing to clear the driveway as it had snowed a few inches overnight, and we had no problem getting down the steep driveway. This was exactly what we needed to get away and recharge. Thanks for a great stay, Bob!
This house was perfect for the needs of 9 of us on a 3-day ski weekend in Killington. It is maybe 10 seconds via car to the Skyeship Gondola, which avoids the morning craziness of K-1 and Snowshed lodges (i.e. a great place to start and end on the mountain). The pictures don't do it justice either as it seems to have been redone since those were taken. Something to be wary of is the driveway, as it's relatively steep and my FWD Honda Accord wasn't able to get up the second one directly in front of the house the night we arrived. The owner, Robert Egger however was incredible in making sure the Plow company came by while we were skiing the next day to ensure both were completely sanded; we had zero trouble after that. Robert was stellar to work with during the entire booking process as well, he also stayed in contact throughout the weekend to ensure we had everything we needed.
FYI - there is no wi-fi, but we were able to get by just fine.
I 100% plan on renting this house again from Robert later on this season and for years to come.
Having read other reviews my sister and I chose to spend the week at this home with our respective families. Needless to say we were very disappointed. The reviews obviously did not come from other families.
The apartment was not cleaned, the worst was hair and toenail clippings in the master bed. The hot tub was nice if you didn't mind the spiderwebs and musty smell in the room. The mattresses were old and were no better than sleeping on a board.
On the positive note the location was great. Only 3/4 of a mile from the lift but definitely know what you are getting into.
A few friends and I rented the upstairs apartment for 3 nights in late January and I can't say enough good things about this house. We arrived rather late Thursday night after a long day of driving but had no trouble finding or getting into the house thanks to Robert's detailed descriptions. The apartment has plenty of room and bed space, so our group fit more than comfortably. The decor and wood burning stove provided set the perfect tone for our weekend away at the mountain. The house is a quick and easy drive from K1(and right around the corner from Skyeship lodge) so we got great parking and were riding the first chair each morning. The short drive was equally appreciated at the end of the day when you can retire from the mountain to the hot tub in a matter of minutes. Robert was very professional and helpful throughout the process, and we thank him for opening his home to us! I would recommend this rental to anyone looking for a great weekend at the mountain.
A group and myself recently rented the top floor for a week and we were amazed by the house. The house just feels like Vermont with all the fun knick-knacks, great mountain view, and beautiful wood-burning heater. With the Killington Skyeship gondola just a mile down the road, and downtown Killington restaurants and nightlife a short ride away, it really is in the perfect spot. The owner was easy top reach for questions by email and text, even sent a video on how to open the lockbox to ensure there were no problems once we got there. The hot tub is an added bonus as well, complementing any vacation stay. The Chalet is also bigger than it appears in the photos which was further pleasantly surprising. I would absolutely recommend renting this house, as I will be doing so for sure.
This review is long overdue. I apologize to Bob for it taking so long to sit down and write.
Myself and 8 friends of mine stayed over the Christmas - New Year weekend and had a fantastic time. Slept everyone comfortably, warm cozy wood-burning stove to heat the living room, and a quiet outdoor space. To top everything off an attached room with the hot tub to relax after making first tracks on the slopes and going all day.
Between the warm stove and the dryer there were no soggy gloves for the next morning, which is obviously a big plus. A nice sized living room had us all around the coffee table playing cards and relaxing after loosening up in the hot tub.
I arrived during a good snow storm and the plow was there within 10 minutes of my arrival (the first one there) to clear the driveway up to the chalet as well as clear out the parking area next to the house as well as near the road in case someone could not make it up the driveway.
There are quite a few places to eat around the Killington area, but we decided to stock up on some food to bring with us. We made a grocery run one night to Rutland to pick up some supplies for the last few days and made sure to make use of the grill provided. Hot tub, grill, wood-burning stove, 5 minutes (if that) from the Skyeship Express; what more could we ask for?
Bob picked up when I called him when we got there and promptly answered any emails I sent despite me not being quite as diligent. A great host and a great person to deal with.
I'd encourage anyone looking for a place to stay, especially during the ski season, to check this place out and speak to Bob.
Thank you for the great week!
