About Susan Joiner

We are recently retired and enjoy boating, fishing and relaxing on Marco Island.

Susan Joiner purchased this house in 2010

Why Susan Joiner chose Vacation Homes in Marco Island

We chose Marco Island for our rental property after vacationing there for several years. We love this island for the friendly people and the laid back atmosphere.

What makes this house unique

I recently returned from a 3 day weekend performing routine maintenance on our home and as I sat in the Jacuzzi with purple lights, watching the sun go down I tried to make a mental note of benefits I would list here.

First of all I truly enjoy putting a Jimmy Buffet or an Oldies CD in the player, turning up the music and hearing it come over all the speakers in the house then opening all of the sliding glass doors so that the inside of the house blends with the outside . Then I get a book from the library and plant myself on one of the lounging chairs on the lanai. Occasionally I will put my book down and watch the birds or my attention will be drawn to something jumping out of the water.

I love the fact that you can see the water from almost every room in the house.

There are ample pool toys, and beach chairs, umbrellas and beach towels for trips to the public beaches located only minutes away.

Marco at its best

  • 5 of 5

We have been fortunate enough to come to Marco a number of times over the years and have rented various properties on the island.

All have had their merits but it is safe to say that in this one we found the best of them all.

Susan & Jim obviously take great pride in their property and apart from being immaculately maintained and equipped with everything you could wish for and more.

Fishing from the dock with a cool beer – a walk on Tigertail – rent a boat for a couple of days for a picnic on Keyweydin or out in the bay with a glass of bubbly watching the sun go down – relax in the spa after a swim in the pool – a steak from the grill with a glass of wine – simply idyllic.

Renting from the UK could not have been easier as Susan answered any queries we had by return. We would not hesitate to recommend this home to any of our friends visiting Florida and it will certainly be at the top of our list if we get back to Marco again.

Thanks again for letting us use your superb home.

Simon & Jenny

We found Paradise….

  • 5 of 5

We have previously rented other homes on Marco Island, but this home was by far the nicest and cleanest one we stayed in. We knew we found paradise as soon as we entered the house. Susan and Jim are so welcoming and caring. We were greeted by finding homemade strawberry jam and bagels along with a bowl of fresh fruit and a bottle of champagne! on their beautiful kitchen counter. Everything about this home is perfect and so clean. It is filled with everything you need and very well maintained.

Every room is beautifully decorated and we felt so much at peace being there.

We spent a lot of time by the pool and hot tub. It was so relaxing, especially in the evening with the special lighting. The times we were not by the pool, we were down by the dock where we fished or just sat to soak up the sun. We were amazed and thrilled to see a dolphin swim next to our dock! We also saw stingrays, sea turtles and various fish swimming by. When we return to Marco in the coming year, we will not consider any other rental. This is the home we want to rent again. We highly recommend renting this house.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your wonderful review. When I am preparing my home for a guest I try to prepare it as though I was renting it myself which means it needs to be clean and inviting and say "relax and have fun". From your review that is exactly what you did and that makes me happy. I am glad that you spent some time on the dock. It is amazing what you can see there. It's fun to walk down to the dock at night to see hundreds of fish under the snook lights. Thank you for choosing my home for your vacation and thank you also for being one of my favorite guests.

Best Rental Home On Marco!

  • 5 of 5

The first word that comes to mind, Wow. This house was amazing. We have been to Marco 4 times this past year and this home was by far the best option. We stayed at the Marriott twice and rented a home twice. To say this home is clean is an understatement. It was like a model home. It was decorated beautifully and everything looked perfect. The pool was warm and the perfect size, the hot tub was great after playing at the beach for the day. The location was great if you have a boat and you want quick access out to the gulf or just to boat out for dinner at Snooks. The beds were so comfortable I took a picture of the mattress tag so we could buy one. We met a few of the neighbors and they were so friendly. Not only would we stay here again, we would attempt to schedule our vacation around this homes availability. Thank you so much Susan, for your hospitality. We made great family memories!

Excellent vacation home!

  • 5 of 5

We arrived at this vacation home and felted so welcomed! When we walked into the kitchen the owner had wine glasses out with a little note that read "wine in the fridge". I thought that was so nice. This home was much more then we expected! Three big bedrooms enough room for everyone! Nice roomy garage for the rental car we had. The kids had a blast in the pool everyday and we loved the outdoor grill. We loved sitting outside poolside just watching the sunset, it was so relaxing. My husband and son did fishing off the dock and really enjoyed that. Loved that we had washer and dryer to use. Everything was at our fingertips that we needed. Everything was easy to drive to if needed, but we preferred to stay in that beautiful home. We home to come back real soon!

Attention to detail sets this rental apart from others on Marco Island!

  • 5 of 5

In the past, we have rented other homes on Marco Island and thought that they were great but, not after renting this beautiful home last week. Susan and Jim have raised the bar on our expectations in the future. From their prompt responses to our initial questions to the wine and muffins waiting in the kitchen when we arrived, everything was perfect and accommodating. Susan and Jim were gracious hosts and saw to every detail in preparation of our stay. We can't wait to go back to the beauty and laid back atmosphere of Marco Island and this will definitely be our home away from home on future vacations. Thanks Susan and Jim for allowing us to spend a week in paradise!

A few suggestions to 1st timers visiting Marco Island:

We made most of our breakfasts and lunches at the house (you really find yourself not wanting to leave the house, pool, spa, and dock) but, for dinner CJs and the Snook Inn were our favorite restaurants on the Island. Both have great food, service, and live music on different nights. Bring your own catch and they will cook your fish the way you like it.

If you like to fish, we saw a lot of catfish and snapper from the dock. There are poles and bait boxes in the garage and plenty of places to buy live shrimp bait on the island.

We rented two bicycles for the week and could get to anywhere on the island within 15 minutes. Don't remember the name but the rental shop was on Bald Eagle drive. The island has great accommodation / routes for bicyclers.

We did the Marco Island Princess lunch cruise and loved it. It was inexpensive at $33 person with casual food such as sandwiches, salad, chips, cookies, and drinks but, the air conditioned cabin, manatee, dolphins, and guided tour of the island with its history made it a great 2 hour cruise.

If you have one evening of clear sky at sunset, go to one of the several beaches. Sunsets on Marco Island are incredible! We like the beach access at Collier and Maple because we were able to bike it, lock our bikes at the access and walk the beach without having to pay for beach parking.

All in all, the island has something for everyone.

Owner's Response: Thank you David and Sandy for the glowing review and very nice thank you card you left behind for me. I try very hard to make sure that my home is the best that it can be so that my guests can relax and enjoy whatever time they have whether it be one week or multiple months. It is my goal to get repeat business which makes my job easier and guests can come to my vacation home knowing there are no surprises and just what to expect. Not only did you treat my home like it was your own, you followed the check-out list to a tee then went a step further. I had a check-in the same day that you left and I was worried that I would not get everything done but my worries went away the minute I walked in the door. It was also helpful that included in your review, things to do and places to go which is great for people who have never been to Marco before. More than one person has mentioned that they had a hard time leaving my home once they arrived and I know exactly what you mean. I agree with your review about CJ’s and Snooks. Along with great food and live music on different nights they are both on the water and the views are amazing at sunset or any other time of the day for that matter. When you bring your own catch my favorite restaurant is Cocomo’s. It is not on the water but their chef cooks our grouper several different ways and they are all so good it’s hard to pick a favorite. If you do not want to go to the expense of fishing, you can always go to Paradise Seafood and get locally caught fish. The grouper and snapper is so fresh you don’t have to do much in the way of cooking, just sauté it in a pan with a little butter or oil and throw some of your favorite herbs on it and you are done! The bike shop you were talking about is the Island Bike Shop on Bald Eagle Drive. Another place I love to go is Rose Marco River Marina where you can purchase bait, fishing tackle sun screen. You can also charter a boat to take you fishing or take the Dolphin Explorer a 28 passenger catamaran and see all the dolphin, birds and island life that you can’t see by car or bike. I like to visit the marina when the charter boats return so that you can see what the catch of the day was and watch the pelicans try to get in for a piece. I am so glad you enjoyed your stay and I look forward to your next visit. Feel free to call me when you are ready for your next vacation.

Happy Family in Paradise

This was the very best home we have ever stayed in. I felt so comfortable from the moment I walked thru the doors. The pool, hot tub and views were perfect. Everything you need is there. I literally did not want to leave. Susan was a wonderful host , she made sure everything was perfect! I hope I will be blessed to stay in this beautiful home on Marco again.
