About Lauren Carlyle

We stumbled upon this property by making a wrong turn that turned out to be oh so right . We built the studio apartment with the horse stalls before we built the house . We spent many weekends staying in the studio skiing and horseback riding .

Lauren Carlyle purchased this studio in 1993

Why Lauren Carlyle chose Boone

This property was located near Moses Cone which has many trails for horseback and near to several ski mountains . We also love to ride our bicycles and motorcycles in the mountains when it is to hot in Raleigh .

What makes this studio unique

great place to stay

The place was the perfect size for my wife and I. It was very peaceful and close enough to restaurants and shopping, but far enough away to not be bothered by anybody else. Will definitely be going back!!!!

Great location, fair price

  • 4 of 5
The location is great, you are literally 2 – 5 miles from Boone, Blowing Rock, Moses Cone, the Parkway, you name it. In addition, your backyard neighbor is Sky Valley Zip Tours. (Great, family ran business that offers AWESOME zipline tours between the mountain tops and tree canopy)

The owners (Lauren) are very responsive and easy to deal with. The cabin is small and rustic, but very fair for the price. You have all the basics for a smooth stay, stove, microwave, TV, shower, heat/AC, etc… We ate most meals out, but took advantage of the fridge and stove to have occasional breakfast/lunch at home to help save $$ for the fun things like ziplining.

This is not the hilton, but you are not paying hilton prices. Yard is wooded, secluded, and the fall colors were beautiful. I don't think you could find a more central location for the price.

wonderful little hide-away

  • 4 of 5
This wonderful efficiency is only 10 minutes from downtown Boone, but as you travel up the gravel road to the cottage, you get the feeling of truly being "away from it all." The photos perfectly represent the comfortable lodging inside and out. What you don't see is the friendliness of the owners, the wonderful tree swing, and the chirping sounds of the night. I will definitely come here again.

Quaint, lovely get-away!

  • 3 of 5
I took my boyfriend to Boone for his birthday and wanted to stay somewhere private (other than a hotel) for a reasonable price; this cabin was perfect. It's located very close to town, but far enough away to feel secluded in the beautiful mountains. It's not very big, but it worked for us since we were out most of the day and night anyway. To come home to a nice little "home" was perfect to sleep and relax in! We will consider this place again for another weekend get-away - thank you to the Carlyle's!

We are located off of Winkler Creek Rd or Dr . The property is about 700 ft up a gravel drive on the right . We have a sign that says Hava lil hide away - The Carlyles - . During the winter months you might need a 4 X 4 to get up to the house . In a big snow (18 in ) , we have had to walk up to the house (700 ft ) so keep in mind the snow level in the winter . The lil house is behind the main house , so first you will see the main house but pull on up to the house and park . Some of the GPS are taking you from hwy 321 in Blowing Rock down Flannery fork Rd . to Winkler Creek . Flannery Fork is a gravel drive so you might want to take 321 to Boone and then turn leftt ( in front of Bojangles ) and go about 1/3 of a mile and you will see Winkler Creek on the right . Turn right and go about 3 miles and Winkler Creek Estates is on the left . Go up the gravel drive to the first drive on the right .
