JINGLE BELLS SQUARE COTTAGE-HISTORIC DISTRICT-BRIGHT-WORKING FIREPLACE

Savannah Cottage Rental Photos and Description

1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, sleeps 2-4

While he was the organist and music director of Savannah’s Unitarian Church, which faces onto Troup Square, the Reverend John Pierpont Jr. wrote the beloved Christmas song Jingle Bells, copyrighted in 1857. In 1985, the City of Savannah placed a plaque in Troup Square to commemorate the song and its Savannah roots.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Built in 1900, our cottage is in a quiet residential neighborhood 50 yards from Troup Square. The one bedroom, one bath property is single storey. Fully renovated in 2011, it has off-street parking for one small car and ample free street parking—no meters to feed with quarters or $7.00 daily parking permits required. Within easy walking distance of restaurants (there is one within 100 yards), the Savannah riverfront, and all of the fun and fascination of pre-Civil War historic architecture, beautiful landscaping, antique shops, etc.

----

Highlights: Private Deck with outdoor cafe table and chairs and 15-ft-long built-in bench for seating --- Full Gourmet Kitchen - island breakfast bar, quartz countertops, full-size stainless steel refrigerator, gas range, dishwasher, microwave --- Open Plan Dining Room/Living Room. We are a nearing-retirement age couple from the New York City area with backgrounds in fine arts and restoration, an appreciation for eccentricity, and a limited amount of patience for shoveling snow - so Savannah is perfect for us.

Owner purchased this cottage in 2007

When our son was clever enough to pass up the blustery New York area where he was born and enrolled in the Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD) in animation in 2004 we began thinking about escaping ourselves - at least for visits. He graduated in 2008 and has moved on to other challenges but we continue to be fascinated by Savannah, one of the most magical cities in the US.

For short and longer term visits we have stayed in quite a few Savannah hotels and a dozen or so furnished vacation rentals, so we have a good idea of what we want to find to make us comfortable, which has guided us in renovating and furnishing this cottage.

WONDERFUL COTTAGE, GREAT STAY IN SAVANNAH

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I spent 3 days/2 nights in Savannah this June. We had a wonderful stay in Jingle Bells Cottage. We took advantage of the full kitchen for our breakfast and lunch and appreciated having a full-sized refrigerator. The bed was comfortable, everything was clean, and bathroom facilities were fine. The cottage is private and located in a quiet neighborhood which was very safe to walk around even at dark. The walk to the downtown historic area was a matter of minutes.

Parking was not an issue. We parked on the street behind our cottage and used the private walkway next to the larger tenant house on the property to access our entryway. Street signs are posted advising you as to which side of the street to park. We didn't use our car at all during our stay as everything was easy to access on foot.

We are frequent users of VRBO rentals when we travel. One important aspect to me is the communication with the property owner prior to the trip. Richards was very prompt in responding to all my questions both before signing the agreement and afterwards. He periodically sent information on local events in the area during the time of our stay. As for the icing on the cake, our security deposit was returned to us the afternoon of our departure.

I would highly recommend Jingle Bells if you plan to spend some time in Savannah!

A GEM IN HISTORIC SAVANNAH

  • 5 of 5
What an absolute delight it was to stay in the Jingle Bells Cottage!

We traveled with my mother and 4 year old son. At first, weren't sure that the size would be sufficient but to our surprise, the cottage was just perfect! Enough space for us all, very clean and well kept. The pictures are great but certainly don't give this cottage the justice it deserves. It's a must see in person ;o) Home was fully equipped with everything we needed and more!

The cottage is conveniently located to many of the greats in Historic Savannah i.e. Forsyth Park, The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, Riverfront Plaza, many quaint little shops, and restaurants. Would highly recommend J. Christopher's for their Blueberry Crunch Pancakes!!

We will definitely be back to stay in the Jingle Bells Cottage.

BEAUTIFUL HOME AND CONVENIENT

  • 5 of 5
Richards was very easy to deal with and the information we received prior to arrival and when we got there was first class. He has obviously been a renter before and knows just what you need to make your stay easy.
The cottage is beautifully furnished and very well equipped- I cooked a meal the night we arrived and the kitchen had everything you need. It's a 10 minute walk from Forsyth park and the riverfront so perfectly positioned. The patio is lovely and shaded- perfect for a g&t after a busy day.
If we ever return to Savannah (which I certainly hope to do) I will certainly book this cottage again.

FABULOUS COTTAGE

  • 5 of 5
The cottage was fabulous in every way. It was clean, well-equipped, in a great location, walkable to many points of interest, and best of all, it felt like home. My husband enjoyed his morning walks. The restaurants located within walking distance were excellent. Parking was plentiful, even with the designated parking space. We never had any trouble finding parking on the street. We even "cooked in" a couple of nights, and the kitchen was a delight to cook in. The owner was very informative and gracious. We would definitely rent this cottage again. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

ADORABLE COTTAGE

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I had a wonderful, week-long stay at this charming cottage. It was so much bigger than I expected--more than enough room for the two of us--and it was even cuter than it looks in the pictures. I wanted to bring it home with me to live in! It was quiet, the bed was comfortable, and it was stocked with all the kitchen, bed and bath items you could need. It was within easy and safe walking distance of everything we wanted to see and do, including house tours, antiques shopping, and wonderful restaurants. Though I didn't meet the owner, he was highly responsive and helpful by email. There wasn't a thing I would change about it, and, when I go back to Savannah, I'll definitely stay there again. It was perfect!

PARK THE CAR AND WALK

  • 5 of 5
We enjoyed the convenience of this property. Once we arrived and parked the car all we did walk when we went out. This property is within walking distance to everywhere in Savannah. Many wonderful restaurants just down the street as well as all the beautiful squares and architecture of the homes in the area. If you are looking for a clean, comfortable and convenient place to stay in Savannah, this is it.

Notes:
A few things not found in many Savannah rentals: • QUIET - a quiet residential street, and a one-storey building (no upstairs or downstairs neighbors). Like many historic Savannah homes ours is semi-detached, but we have installed 6 inches of sound insulation between us and the adjacent neighbor. • PRIVATE DECK with outdoor cafe table and chairs and 15-ft-long built-in bench for seating • In the Living Room area - A REALLY COMFORTABLE, QUEEN-SIZE PULLOUT SOFA-BED—one that you would actually be happy sleeping on!—custom manufactured by Rowe Furniture in North Carolina, with “Air Dream” innerspring air mattress system. • High-Definition Flat-Screen TVs (Living Room, Bedroom and Kitchen) with FULL HIGH DEFINITION CABLE, DVR, DVD player, Stereo CD player with iPod dock.
