Villa Laranja review

My family of seven, ranging from mid-twenties to mid-fifties, have had a wonderful week's holiday in Villa Laranja (June 2009.) I could recommend this villa holiday to anybody; with an immaculate, clean and spacious setting, the villa was fully equipped with everything we needed (including masses of lovely towels)- we felt to be in total luxury.
A modern and airy feel about the whole house makes it a perfect setting for gatherings.
If you stay here, do explore the coastal road leading to the beautiful beach at Foz. The supermarket is less than five minutes away by foot, had good opening hours and is well stocked- very handy. A trendy bar decked out as a boat inside was a vibrant hot spot in the centre of Sao Martinho which we enjoyed for evening drinks. However, Obidos is a MUST- a beautiful hill-top village famous for its historic significance- do sample a cherry/chocolate cupped liqueur (or 4.....or 5!) on one of the stunning narrow streets adorned by bougainvillea......delicious and only 1euro each! For those more culturally inclined, Fatima is similarly a must- being a major Roman Catholic focal point. The hospital at Caldas is still to this day visited by people from all over the globe for its healing/Spa qualities- we visited the museum there and had a wonderfully interesting tour round there by an English tour guide.
In total, the villa more than exceeded our expectations and the surrounding area is quite beautiful......a great holiday.
