Location/Description : Casey Key is an 8 mile barrier island located on the west coast of Florida about 15 miles south of Sarasota. The beaches are refreshingly natural, with protected wild sea oats and mangroves providing a protective habitat for the many native birds that share the Island. Dolphins, manatees, sea turtles, and other aquatic wildlife can also be seen on this magnaficent barrier Island.
The majority of the Island is a conservation district. There are NO high rises, or mobs of tourists to disturb your relaxation. When walking the beach, you may see one or maybe two other people on the beach. It is very private, with no public access to this beach were we are.
Recreational Activities: Rent a boat and explore the local waterways, picnic on a secluded island, parasail, windsurf,or jet ski. The BayLady has sightseeing tours of the area from the water. Oscar Scherer State Park has nature trails and kayaking. Board a Dolphin Watch Cruise, or go to the Mote Marine Wildlife Center. Deep sea charter fishing or a sunset cruise on the Bay with dinner and music are also things to do.
Attractions for the kids include: G Wiz Childrens Museum, Jungle Gardens, Pelican Man's Bird Sanctuary, Planet Fun, Pirates Cove, Busch Gardens or Disney.
Magnificent Casey Key Island is a very exclusive area of single family homes located on a barrier Island just south of Sarasota and north of Venice. Known as 'Hidden Paradise' , this unique barrier Island is Directly on the Gulf of Mexico to the west and has the Blackburn Bay to the east. One can enjoy the white sandy beaches with beautiful sunsets, and NO high rises.
A short drive to Sarasota, the cultural capital of Florida, you will find music, theater, galleries,shopping and many restaurants. The Island of Venice is a picturesque, quaint town with it's Main Street lined with plam trees and flowers. Main Street also has many mom and pop shops, restaurants, and sidewalk cafes.
Tampa and its many attractions is 1 hour drive, and Orlando and Disney is about 1.5 hours.
