La Cruz is a great growing area. It’s about 12 miles north of the Puerto Vallarta airport in the more newly developed end of the Bay of Banderas. La Cruz is a town of about 1 square mile which started out as a small fishing village. Although the fishermen still continue the tradition and bring their fresh catches in every day for you to purchase directly, there is now a lot more going on than that. In 2009, La Cruz finished a brand new marina. It’s said to be the biggest of the 3 marinas in the Bay. The marina has shops and restaurants and entertainment. The construction of the marina has brought in many new and exciting things to the town too, such as lots of new restaurants, shops, bars and entertainment. On most Sundays you’ll find the La Cruz Open Market which lines the marina with over 100 vendors and draws 100’s of people from around the Bay to see the unique goods that are offered such as hand made jewelry, fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, sauces, hand made hair ornaments and much more. The restaurants vary from things such as the doctor who opens his house on weekends to make brisket type meat tacos with delicious sauce choices, to upscale restaurants with world class chefs on staff. There are also wonderful locals who give great services for things such as massages in house, in house chef and much more. You’ll leave having Mexican friends!
