Our property nestles at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac - see the monkeys playing in the trees from the balconies!! We offer maid service and very competitive rates. Just 1 mile from beautiful sandy beaches. This property is in excellent condition, well equipped, very spacious. Landscaped garden, gardener visits weekly to maintain our property to a high standard. Situated behind the Lime Grove shopping mall.

As this is our family home each time we go out to Barbados we add 'extras' to make it more comfortable for ourselves and yourselves.

We are offering a beautiful house, at exceptionally low rates and only minutes from the amazing west coast beaches. Please read the reviews of those who have visited our home and enjoyed their stay.

We are situated, behind the Lime Grove Shopping Mall, providing an excellent location for shopping and nearby beautiful beaches.

The supermarket is literally at the bottom of the road, and provides excellent local food, Waitrose items, not much you would not be able to buy!!

The Chattel House village is again, within walking distance. A great place to visit and shop.

Taxis are available at the Shopping Mall. Buses go extremely frequently into Bridgetown and around the island.

Absolutely Wonderful

Three of us stayed at Halcyon Dayz for two weeks end of May 2014. The property is situated at the end of a nice quite residential cul-de-sac. The house is absolutely wonderful, all the rooms are a very good size and the property is furnished to a good standard.

When at the house we spent most of our time relaxing on the very spacious veranda. The passing monkeys make good entertainment, we spent age’s watching them and taking photos of them playing at the back of the garden.

The house is only a couple of minutes drive or a 10 minute walk to local supermarket, shops, restaurants, bars ,local beach etc. Barbados is a beautiful safe island so would recommend hiring a car to explore all the island has to offer.

We'd recommend your house to anyone. Thank you Mary & David for letting us stay in your beautiful home.

There is now a Halcyon Dayz family scattered around the world. The house is ideally situated for Holetwown and the beaches,or even a drive into Bridgetown. Being a cricket nut, I follow all the local teams and it is a real bonus having Maple C C at the bottom of the road.
Barbados is a lovely Island and so are the people. Who are friendly ,open and a credit to there Country.
I hope one day to see you back in The Lovely Halcyon Dayz.

Home from home in Holetown

Our 12th time to Barbados and we stayed at Halcyon Dayz for two weeks and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. Thank you Mary for your calls prior to our departure. Your home is well kept, spacious, not really too overlooked by neighbours and far enough away from traffic to allow a peaceful time. We only met Sherry on our arrival and everywhere is kept immaculate. There were only two of us but we would be happy to bring family as there is plenty of space. Our opinion (for anyone trying to decide) is that the house is charming and very well equipped throughout. It was great to have the laundry room and everything quickly dries overnight –even beach towels. With the windows open for the breeze we found we never needed the air conditioning. The monkey troupe (see other posts) is fascinating to watch. We didn’t see them every day as we were out and about a lot. But there were times we had planned to go out and ended up doing it much later because we got caught up watching their antics! The only additions that we might have valued would have been an ipod dock (we brought our own). And for anyone wanting comfort sunning themselves in the garden then maybe take blow-up beach mattresses to place on the sun loungers. The garden is very well maintained with plenty of dappled shade for the hottest hours. We used Stoutes car rental. Some of the beaches we visited included Holetown, Miami, Accra, Worthing, Crane, Dover and Carlisle Bay. All have good facilities. Some of our favourite lunch stops were The Round House and Cutters Deli on the East coast, The Fishermens pub in the North, and The Waterfront Cafe in Bridgetown. A new highlight place-to-see of the two weeks was Huntes Garden. Do take a look if you love music and plants you’ll love it. Too many restaurants to mention for dinner but a standout was Cariba (West coast, near Coral Cliff). It was a fabulous meal and lovely feel about the place. If you’re on a budget or just want to be self sufficient the local supermarket in Holetown is very good and will have everything you need. There are also plenty of good food on offer from day-time vans - everywhere does great flying fish and fabulous macaroni pie. Best snorkelling is at Folkestone and we did a Stiletto Catamaran trip which was good. Do go to Oistens on a Friday night at least one time! We can heartily recommend Barbados for your vacation and Halcyon Dayz is a lovely place to call home while you are there. Janette & Brian Hall

Beautiful Place to Stay

Arrived on 23 April 2012, quite late in the day to a lovely welcome from Sherry the housekeeper.

The house was even better than the pictures, it really is beautiful, spacious and welcoming. Everywhere is clean and comfortable. Information and contacts are available for everything you could want or need, much thought has gone into making the stay a comfortable and happy experience.

There is even the daily entertainment of the monkeys passing through the other side of the fence.

Just a few minutes walk to the main shops and beach area via a short cut at back of the house.

Every one you meet is friendly, the famous Bajan welcome is found everywhere.

Neighbours are friendly and quiet, even when you meet them out on the town during the evening, checking you are ok and having a good time.

We hired a car from Stoats the company recommended by Mary, the service was very good, car arrived on time and was clean and reliable, we also hired a Sat Nav and have to say this was well worth the money, we went all over the island, including beautiful Bottom Bay which is the opposite side of the island and well worth a visit without getting lost once thanks to the sat nav, no having to constantly check the map or turn round because of missing a turning!

Holetown is lovely and has everything you could wish for; supermarket (Waitrose no less), various gift and clothes shops and a Cave Shepherd, duty free shop.

A trip to St Lucy is worth the drive, views are beautiful and there are a few gift shops selling local craft items and paintings.

Harrison's cave is also worth going to, may be a bit difficult to find without the use of Sat Nav, signs in Barbados are sometimes few and far between, however you should never be afraid to ask, people are only too happy to help.

As for eating, we didn't have a bad meal anywhere, Just Grilling is great for lunch as is Surfside at anytime for a snack. Zaccios' food is lovely morning, noon and night. The service at all is good and very friendly.

Overall I can only say that this was my first holiday for 4 years, looking at the website for this house in those 4 years spent as a carer was all that kept me going some days, it would have been easy to build it into something wonderful in my mind only for reality to let me down when I was eventually able to go. It was not the case, everything I had pictured and imagined in those 4 years was surpassed, it was wonderful. Excellent value. Highly recommended.

Another stay in paradise

Tears..... Writing a review means we are back from paradise. We spent another phantastic 4 weeks at Halcyon Dayz (partly together with our son and his family who stayed for 6 weeks). This was our second holiday at Halcyon Dayz - and knowing to which gorgeous place we would return was a big part of our anticipation. This wonderful house makes an ideal holiday destination more than perfect. We love it so much. The plants grew so well and make the garden an oasis. Each detail in the house and garden reflects the loving care of the owners.
Big thanks to Sherry who maintains the house so well and keeps it very clean. She was always a high much valued help and had some good tips how to avoid moscitos etc..
We all had such a wonderful time there and it was so touching to see the development little Julian made within these weeks. He seemed to absorb all the various impressions: lots of space, sun, rich vegetation, birds, monkeys and - of course - the people. The Bajans are really great. Always with a smile and very helpful.

This time we did several walking tours and discovered some wonderful places. We can really recommend this, emphasising once more the security on the island. We never felt unsafe and always enjoyed walking around, meeting locals
and get some tips from them.

Mary and David, in the name of the whole family we deeply thank you for sharing the house. We are looking forward to 2014!

Fabulous 4 Weeks

It's three weeks since we returned home after spending 4 enjoyable weeks in Halcyon Heights. We’ve re-booked for 5 weeks next year.

We echo all the positive comments made by previous reviewers.  The website description describes the villa perfectly.

The location is very peaceful and there is plenty of wildlife - fireflys, bats, geckos, humming birds, egrets heading off in the mornings to various parts of the Island and not forgetting the troop of monkeys.

We have been visiting Barbados on many occasions since 1991 and this was one of our best holidays. It was lovely to have our family stay with us for two weeks. The villa is so spacious and comfortable that accommodating 5 adults and two infants under 4 years was no problem.

We hired a car which is useful if you wish to tour the island, however this is not essential as the local taxis are reasonable and there is a 6/7 minute shortcut walk into Holetown.

Looking forward to next year when we can chill out again in Holetown and Halcyon Heights.

Another wonderful stay

Had another wonderful stay at Halcyon Dayz (stayed in March 2010), the place just keeps getting better and harder to leave. Was fortunate to stay for 30 days, including Xmas and New Year 2011, with my sister coming out on the 26th December and her two kids, as usual Mary and David were very helpful and friendly throughout the booking process.

Holetown did not disappoint with plenty to see and do over the xmas period and with the new Lime Grove centre opened, there was plenty of shopping to be had if you have the money. Spent quite a bit of time at Surfside bar where you can hire beach beds and the watersports are fabulous, although the beach boys do tend to hassle you a bit a first, but once you get talking to them they can be really helpful and friendly.

The monkeys at the villa are as always a delight to watch, keeping us entertained throughout our stay, together with the lizards Did not hire a car this time, and although the road leading up back to the house is quite steep, its a good way to get a tan and keep fit and its only 10 minutes walk to Holetown. Hired taxis on an evening and for sightseeing, which are plenty and good value compared to hiring a car. Sherry the housekeeper is an absolute delight, she cannot do enough for you and keeps the place spotless. Really envy Mary and David to have such a wonderful place. Will certainly be going back, hopefully some time soon.
