Originally constructed over half a century ago, Agave (pronounced “ah-GAH-vay”) Hill has been restored with modern conveniences. The house was designed with grand proportions, and has over 4000 square feet of living space. The spacious living room, which looks out on the ocean, measures 31 x 21 feet and is furnished with couches, chairs, a card table with seating for four, a fireplace, and a baby grand piano. Connected to it is a separate formal dining room. The vintage kitchen has modern appliances cindluing refrigerator/freezer, electric range and oven, microwave, and dishwasher. There is also a laundry room with washer and dryer.
Consistent with the grand proportions of the house, the master bedroom measures 16 x 21 feet, and is air conditioned. The second bedroom is almost as large. Both are furnished with queen beds and have full en-suite bathrooms. Both have doors opening to porches with ocean views.
Among Agave Hill’s most delightful features are its two large sun porches, fully enclosed, with walls of windows looking out over the ocean. The White Porch is furnished with a fold-out couch and can be used as an additional sleeping room. It also has a card table with seating for four and a telescope to take advantage of its sweeping views. There is a third full bathroom nearby. The Orange Porch has comfortable lounge seating for five and a satellite TV. The house features three open porches as well, most with ocean views.
Agave Hill’s thick stone walls, Atlantic breezes, and water cisterns beneath keep the house cool year-round.
Every major room is equipped with ceiling fans and operable windows to enjoy the breeze. Other amenities at Agave Hill include high-speed internet, WIFI, landline telephone, fax machine, printer, and CD-radio player. For outdoor use there is a surf board, two beach chairs, and a tent. Beach towels are provided.
Beside the house, Agave Hill has a large and beautiful flagstone patio with sweeping ocean views and surrounded by landscaped gardens. The patio is furnished with tables, chairs, and a charcoal grill. After enjoying an outdoor meal on the hilltop patio, relax in the nearby hammock strung between coconut palms. Or climb the water tower stairs to the upper deck and enjoy panoramic views of both oceans. Agave Hill is the perfect spot to relax in total privacy surrounded by natural beauty.
If you enjoy fine dining and nightlife, you won’t have to go far. A two-minute walk down the beach will take you to the boutique luxury resort Sky Beach Club.
Sky Beach Club has an excellent restaurant and beachside infinity pool with swim-up cocktail bar. Sky Beach Club has poolside service—meals and drinks--all day long. A five-minute drive will take you Cocodimama’s fine beachside restaurant featuring authentic Italian cuisine. A ten minute drive will take to famous Tippy’s restaurant and The Beach House tapas restaurant. Several other restaurants are within a 15 minute drive. Most feature live music one or two nights a week.
The town of Governors Harbour, five minutes away by car, has a charming collection of 19th century homes and churches overlooking its historic harbor. Buy fresh fish and lobster every afternoon from fisherman at the town dock, or visit the recently restored Haynes Library, which dates from 1897, for the weekly coffee hour for foreign residents and tourists. Governors Harbour has grocery stores, restaurants, liquor stores, two banks with ATMs, a bakery, gift shops, a dive shop, and a medical clinic. Friday Night Fish Fry in Governors Harbour, a street/beach party that brings together all the tourists and locals with food, drink, and dancing in the street, is not to be missed.
