HISTORIC COTTAGE IN THE WOODS SURROUNDED BY AMISH FARMS.

Lancaster Cottage Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 1 Bath (Sleeps 6-8)

Wander the grounds of our 10 acres that overlook the Conestoga Valley and beautiful Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. This early 1700's stone farmhouse has been beautifully restored and is nestled in the woods just outside Churchtown, PA. Once the home of the foreman at the historic Pool Forge, this wonderful cottage is open for use year round.

This is an ideal romantic get-away for two, a fantastic retreat for four or a great place for a family visiting Amish country. Set several hundred yards back from the road, you will have a beautiful view of the valley below from the edge of hundreds of acres of woodlands.

Make your own breakfast or order hot sticky buns from the Amish family across the road. Read a book on our wisteria covered patio which overlooks the valley or cozy up next to the wood stove on a cool evening. Enjoy some of Lancaster's best family dining, or prepare a quiet meal in our fully stocked kitchen. Go outlet shopping or search for the perfect hand-made quilt.

Upstairs: The two bedrooms are upstairs and are furnished as follows: Room 1 - large room with a queen size bed and a double bed. Room 2 - small room with a queen size bed. There are two twin mattresses stored in the closet which can be used on the floor of the large bedroom or in the downstairs living room. Both rooms have access to the one large bathroom which is complete with an antique clawfoot tub and shower.

Downstairs: The kitchen has an eat-in area and there is an additional drop-leaf table if needed. Basic dishes and kitchen utensils are provided. The living room has a TV, satellite service and DVD player as well as wireless internet throughout the house. Use the electric heat, or enjoy the wood stove in the winter. Air conditioning is provided in the summer. Feel free to make reservations to eat with a neighboring Amish family or have Lydia make you her famous sticky buns for breakfast (except Sundays).

Outside: The back porch is the most peaceful place to sit and enjoy a beautiful view of the valley. It is equipped with a charcoal grill and picnic table. Take time to explore the ten acres of woodlands with a great variety of birds. The front of the house includes a carport and small stone well. Two bikes are also provided for your use.

VISITING THE AMISH COUNTRY

  • 5 of 5
This cottage was the highlight of our visit to PA! It certainly lived up to the description and photos. It is quite a magical place-away from it all! We loved the grounds, the gardens and most especially the firefly display every night. Your cottage is so well maintained and kept with the 1700's era.
We visited the neighboring Amish Family and enjoyed the delicious sticky buns! A must for everyone! Such a wonderful family. We enjoyed our buggy ride visiting a nearby farm. Everyone needs to visit the Sight and Sound Theater to see Moses! A spectacular performance. We left with so many memories of such a wonderful place. Thanks for sharing this cottage with us.

ADORABLE COTTEGE AND VERY RESTFUL VACATION.

  • 5 of 5
Completely fell in love with this cottege. From the minute we drove into the area and noticed how we would be in the middle of the farmlands to driving down the tree lined drive to a quaint and cozy stone cottege, we were hooked. House has everything you will need for a restful stay. Area has an abundant amount of things to do, you can antique shop, tour Amish farms, take horse and buggy rides, shop some great outlet malls, or just sit in the back yard and enjoy the many creatures that come down to see you each day. List of Misty's favorite things to do was a huge help, this was our third visit to the area, and we still found things that we had never done, and there are still more that we did not have time to see. Cottege is centrally located so you can get to some great attractions with minimal travel time. Penn turnpike is just minutes away and can take you to several major tourist areas. Highly recommend getting sticky buns from Amish family down road. They are so good and don't miss visiting the Goode store down the road, many many bargins and unique gifts. Will come back to this cottege in near future. Thanks to Misty for making our trip so wonderful.

QUIET AND COZY

  • 4 of 5
After a little hiccup with the billing (I never got my second bill from VRBO, but Misty quickly rectified that and had it resent) I was ready to head out to the cottage. I missed the driveway at first (hidden in the trees in the wide open farmland so I didn't even realize there was a driveway there). But once I pulled in, it was lovely. And once I knew where it was, returning to the cottage after outings was easy. Loved the history of the house - that it had been around so long. It is very isolated from the surrounding properties, and was a bit spooky for me the first night (I'm not used to that much quiet)
My dog loved all the smells and really enjoyed walking up the road (didn't enjoy meeting the horse so much though)
The cottage is centrally located so we were able to take a day trip to Gettysburg (only 1.5 hours away)
This was our first trip together (just me and my dog) but I hope to do many more!

PERFECT COZY GETAWAY!

  • 5 of 5
This cottage was fantastic! Very clean and welcoming. The grounds of the property were gorgeous and lush. I loved taking a blanket outside and laying in the grass up by the barn watching all the birds. The inside of the cottage was so cozy and perfect. I will absolutely return to this place again.

A GEM IN THE WOODS.

  • 5 of 5
A cozy cottage was well adorned with the comforts of home. This gem in the words is on the outskirts of Amish Farms off a quiet road. Convenient to many Amish sights, authentic food experiences and antiquing. We will definitely return.
