Photos and Description of the Lancaster vacation cottage rental
House, 2 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 1 Bath (Sleeps 6-8)

Wander the grounds of our 10 acres that overlook the Conestoga Valley and beautiful Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. This early 1700's stone farmhouse has been beautifully restored and is nestled in the woods just outside Churchtown, PA. Once the home of the foreman at the historic Pool Forge, this wonderful cottage is open for use year round.

This is an ideal romantic get-away for two, a fantastic retreat for four or a great place for a family visiting Amish country. Set several hundred yards back from the road, you will have a beautiful view of the valley below from the edge of hundreds of acres of woodlands.

Make your own breakfast or order hot sticky buns from the Amish family across the road. Read a book on our wisteria covered patio which overlooks the valley or cozy up next to the wood stove on a cool evening. Enjoy some of Lancaster's best family dining, or prepare a quiet meal in our fully stocked kitchen. Go outlet shopping or search for the perfect hand-made quilt.

Upstairs: The two bedrooms are upstairs and are furnished as follows: Room 1 - large room with a queen size bed and a double bed. Room 2 - small room with a queen size bed. There are two twin mattresses stored in the closet which can be used on the floor of the large bedroom or in the downstairs living room. Both rooms have access to the one large bathroom which is complete with an antique clawfoot tub and shower.

Downstairs: The kitchen has an eat-in area and there is an additional drop-leaf table if needed. Basic dishes and kitchen utensils are provided. The living room has a TV, satellite service and DVD player as well as wireless internet throughout the house. Use the electric heat, or enjoy the wood stove in the winter. Air conditioning is provided in the summer. Feel free to make reservations to eat with a neighboring Amish family or have Lydia make you her famous sticky buns for breakfast (except Sundays).

Outside: The back porch is the most peaceful place to sit and enjoy a beautiful view of the valley. It is equipped with a charcoal grill and picnic table. Take time to explore the ten acres of woodlands with a great variety of birds. The front of the house includes a carport and small stone well. Two bikes are also provided for your use.

Wonderful Cottage!

Submitted: October 26, 2012 Stayed: October 2012
My wife and I just spent two nights at this rustic cottage and loved it! It was the perfect getaway for our 30th wedding anniversary. Very quiet and cozy in the heart of Amish country. Everything you need is there in this well stocked home. Very clean and relaxing. Rocking on the front porch with a morning cup of coffee or reading under the wisteria in the backyard. It was all great! Close to shopping and dining also.
We hope to get back there for another visit in the near future.
Owner's Response: Glad that you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for considering the Lincoln Boone Guest Cottage.

Charming Retreat

5 of 5
Submitted: May 26, 2012 Stayed: April 2012
Charming, quaint, comfortable, "home". All adjectives to describe this vacation cottage. My family: hubby, 2 adult children, and grandbaby, used this wonderful cottage as "home base" for a week while visiting Lancaster, Philadelphia, Gettysburg and Hershey. We couldn't have picked a better place. The owners have taken care to make sure that you have everything necessary to relax. We opened the door to find fresh flowers, fruit and the makings for our first breakfast. Everything is there for one to relax, whether sitting and rocking on the front porch with a morning cup of coffee or under the wisteria in the backyard. The livingroom has pamphlets of nearby attractions, board games for older children and adults, and a kids corner with toys and books. They even have a rocking chair so you can read the books and rock your little one to sleep. The cottage is isolated enough to give you peace and quiet, but close enough to the "outside" world so that you can shop or eat in the town. The whole family was able to unwind, and enjoy being together. My granddaughter enjoyed it so much. She became acquainted with a rabbit she named "Chipper", walked to nearby farms and saw cows and horses, played soccer in the yard, and took walks with her Mommy and Uncle. She enjoyed the outdoors which is something a city child isn't always able to do. And the adults returned to our busy lifes refreshed and renewed from the experience. If we are ever in the area again, this would be the first place I'd check for availability to rent. All of us just LOVED it!!!

We have just had the most wonderful get-away here at the stone cottage! So refreshing to be surrounded by the lovely antiques and stone walls. The clawfoot tub was a favorite soaking/reading spot! This place is wonderful inside and out!! Even our dogs enjoyed roaming around the beautiful yard area! The cottage is well maintained, clean and inviting. Everything is in place for a great stay!! Karen could not have been more helpful to us before and during our stay. We highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting this area!

PERFECT 7 DAY VACATION

5 of 5
Submitted: November 8, 2011 Stayed: September 2011
WOW! WOW! WOW! Upon entering the driveway to the cottage, we were surprised to see the front porch decorated for fall with mums, corn and straw bales. That was really nice. Then we opened the door there was a bowl of fresh fruit bowl and vase filled with white Rose of Sharon. Then the refrigerator was stocked with milk, eggs, juice and bread ready for a lite breakfast the next morning. What a perfect place for three people plus our dog “Cheyenne”. The pictures on-line does do justice. It was so nice to have a large walking yard and trails for the dog or just getting outside listening to nature. We did our daily walks every morning listening and watching the sun come up over the mountain at the end of the road. The kitchen was well stocked with everything if you wanted to fix a meal right at home. The beds were extremely cozy for a good night’s sleep. We slept like rocks for sure. We went shopping at Kitchen Kettle Village, Bird-in-Hand, Strasburg (the railroad museum was wonderful as well as the train ride), Amish farm tours (3 of them), The Smucker’s Gourds Shop, the outlet mall. We had planned breakfast at Shady Maple (plenty to eat and you will gain weight there for sure), dinner at The Amish View Restaurant, Hershey Family Farm, Windmill Family Restaurant and Stoltzfus Farm Restaurant. Whatever you do, you need to order the “STICKY BUNS” from Lydia. They are SOOOO GOOD!!!!
We had a relaxing and wonderful time for sure. Thank you very much for being “pet friendly”. Our dog really enjoyed himself there being able to walk the whole yard, trails and driveway. The cottage is more than we could ask for. We all had such a wonderful time that we are planning to return next year.

Wonderful Cottage

5 of 5
Submitted: August 19, 2011 Stayed: June 2011
My husband and I stayed here for three nights with our two children, ages 1 and 2. We were looking for a home base for our "toddler vacation" to see Thomas the Train at the Strasburg Railroad and visit Dutch Wonderland, but we got much more! We ended up spending quite a bit of time enjoying the cottage and exploring around it. It is situated between working farms, so we took walks to visit the animals, and my son loved roaming around the yard.

The kitchen is well stocked, and we really appreciated the breakfast items, including fresh fruit. After the kids went to bed, we would sit on the front porch and watch the fireflies descend on the valley.

We will definitely be going back!
