HISTORIC COTTAGE IN THE WOODS SURROUNDED BY AMISH FARMS.

Lancaster Cottage Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 1 Bath (Sleeps 6-8)

Wander the grounds of our 10 acres that overlook the Conestoga Valley and beautiful Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. This early 1700's stone farmhouse has been beautifully restored and is nestled in the woods just outside Churchtown, PA. Once the home of the foreman at the historic Pool Forge, this wonderful cottage is open for use year round.

This is an ideal romantic get-away for two, a fantastic retreat for four or a great place for a family visiting Amish country. Set several hundred yards back from the road, you will have a beautiful view of the valley below from the edge of hundreds of acres of woodlands.

Make your own breakfast or order hot sticky buns from the Amish family across the road. Read a book on our wisteria covered patio which overlooks the valley or cozy up next to the wood stove on a cool evening. Enjoy some of Lancaster's best family dining, or prepare a quiet meal in our fully stocked kitchen. Go outlet shopping or search for the perfect hand-made quilt.

Upstairs: The two bedrooms are upstairs and are furnished as follows: Room 1 - large room with a queen size bed and a double bed. Room 2 - small room with a queen size bed. There are two twin mattresses stored in the closet which can be used on the floor of the large bedroom or in the downstairs living room. Both rooms have access to the one large bathroom which is complete with an antique clawfoot tub and shower.

Downstairs: The kitchen has an eat-in area and there is an additional drop-leaf table if needed. Basic dishes and kitchen utensils are provided. The living room has a TV, satellite service and DVD player as well as wireless internet throughout the house. Use the electric heat, or enjoy the wood stove in the winter. Air conditioning is provided in the summer. Feel free to make reservations to eat with a neighboring Amish family or have Lydia make you her famous sticky buns for breakfast (except Sundays).

Outside: The back porch is the most peaceful place to sit and enjoy a beautiful view of the valley. It is equipped with a charcoal grill and picnic table. Take time to explore the ten acres of woodlands with a great variety of birds. The front of the house includes a carport and small stone well. Two bikes are also provided for your use.

Cozy little cottage get-away

This is certainly a "Diamond in the ruff". My wife and I had celebrated our 13th anniversary this weekend and couldn't have asked for anything other than what we had experienced at the Lincoln-Boone Cottage. With the peaceful setting along with all the comforts of home making it warm and relaxing the entire time we were there. We were greeted with fresh fruits, milk, juice, firewood and linens. Not knowing what to expect I feel we over packed but it was well worth it. We enjoyed peaceful evenings sitting on the porch wrapped in a blanket while enjoying the fresh air and cool breezes. The fireplace came in handy to take the chill out of the air and the surroundings made for a tranquil setting we could only dream of. We visited the Wolf Sanctuary (my wife's favorite) and took in many of the great sights and sounds of the area. There was so much to do and so little time I believe this will be but the beginning of many years to follow as we look to get away from time to time at our new found get-away. We look forward to visiting again soon. I recommend this to anyone looking to kick back and relax. I suggest you pack light cause if your like us you'll quickly discover that you'll be leaving with more than you came with. The owner has taken great pride in this cottage and we would like to extend our appreciation for having us. We will be back. Thanks again for such a great time. See you soon!
Owner's Response: Thank you for sharing about your stay at the Cottage, it is most appreciated. I keep hearing about the wolf sanctuary; we are definitely going to go check that out soon. I'm so glad you and your wife were able to relax and celebrate your anniversary at the Cottage.

Charming, beautifully rustic and cozy country cottage

We really enjoyed our stay at the Lincoln Boone Cottage; it is so charming and beautiful. Our winter weekend with 4 other friends and our puppy dog was so nice! It was a very cold weekend, but we got the wood stove going and it kept us very warm and snuggled i to enjoy good food, fellowship and board games. The cottage is well appointed with the necessities PLUS complementary extras like fresh eggs, fruit, milk, juice, and condiments--as well as plenty of toiletries for the traveler who may have forgotten an item at home. One of my friends remarked that all the extras made it feel like you were visiting your own personal vacation home.

We ordered and thoroughly enjoyed Lydia's delicious cinnamon rolls. We relaxed and loved the beautiful snow, scenery and birds. Our puppy dog also loved romping in the woods and the backyard. Just a precaution and warning for pet owners visiting this property-- be aware that the Wisteria on the back porch is extremely toxic to dogs. As well many of the other plants that grow in the woods and around the cottage (Holly, Ivy, Rhododendron, etc). If you have a plant chewer just be very aware and cautious; this would not deter me from staying again, simply more cautious when playing with a pet outside.

Overall, we could not have asked for a more cozy, warm, clean, pleasant stay. We plan to be back!

Owner's Response: Wisteria is toxic to pets? I had no idea! Thank you for taking the time to share that as well as your experience at the cottage. I'm so glad you and your friends were able to have a relaxing time in spite of the cold weather. Thank you for visiting Lincoln-Boone Country Cottage.

Unique Lancaster experience

My friend and I escaped for a weekend girls' getaway, and the Lincoln Boone cottage proved just the ticket. The owners keep it very clean, and the complimentary milk, eggs, fruit and juice waiting for us was a nice touch. The best part of the experience is to actually stay in a 250+ year old house. The weather was snowy and very cold, so we stayed indoors almost the whole weekend -- which was no hardship, since we were able to relax and read and even nap. The kitchen is a good size and nicely updated, so it was easy to make meals -- we even tried a couple of new recipes. It was a memorable weekend, and I recommend it. One note: if there is snowy weather, it is a good idea to have a 4-wheel drive to get up the driveway.

Let it Snow!

Nothing like driving through snowy farm country and turning onto a snow covered lane to the surprise of a antique stone house with candles lit in the windows and as we opened the door and stepped back in history to a Christmas past. Complete with a decorated Christmas tree! It snowed thru the evening as we walked up to the Amish home for dinner with Lydia and Levi who are the most gracious host you can ever find, not to mention the best home cooking ever! The 3 days we stayed here was a fun and relaxing experience.

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend at the Lincoln Boone cottage. It is in a great location surrounded by its own woods. Although dogs are allowed it is, unlike some holiday cottages perfectly clean. Indeed the owners clearly go to great lengths to keep the cottage in tip top condition. If you want a cottage in this part of Pennsylvania, look no perfect. This place is perfect. Just book it!
