Castrillon House Rental Photos and Description

5 beedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, 2 half bathrooms, sleeps 10.

Mid-18th century stone house located on a breathtaking cliff and 80 meters away from the beach, recently top-level fully restored to offer the best sensations to its dwellers: only solid oak wood was used in its interior (floors and beams) excepting for tiled floors brought directly from Casablanca used in some areas in the house. Its 30 windows and balcony are made of solid iroko wood. Each and every unit of the house has at least one window facing the sea or the nearby mountain and 3 very large windows were built directly into the sea. There's both a steam and infrared sauna and the property includes a 2nd smaller guest house (included in the rent). Once a week house cleaning and white linen service are included.

This property is situated in a quiet and nature sorrounded 3-property cul-de-sac above Arnao beach (Castrillon municipality) and 5 kms from Asturias airport with no plane acoustic disturbance though.The city of Aviles is 7 kms away and it takes half an hour to drive either to Oviedo or Gijon. The beach is just downstairs.

COMMITMENT: We are 100% committed to offer a top 5-star hotel like cleaning service: after each guest or group of guests leaves everything is thoroughly washed: every pillow case, every blanket, every duvet, every mattress cover, etc. The same perfectionism applies to the cleaning service of bathrooms, kitchen, sauna room and the rest of the rooms. If a client is not fully satisfied he or she is totally entitled to a very quick response. Also after each stay paintwork is checked and corrected when necessary.

PROPERTY DISTRIBUTION. Main house: first floor, loft (living&dining); detached kitchen; galery and toilet. Ground floor: master bedroom (150-cm wide bed) with full bathroom; 1 bedroom with 2 single 90 cm- wide beds; 1 bedroom with 2 80 cm-wide beds plus another full bathroom. Guest house: bedroom (135-cm wide bed); full bathroom and a small livingroom with 2 single sofabeds (190 x 80). Sauna house: sauna cabin; shower and washing machine.

NORTHERN FOOTPATH: We would highlight Arnao-Santa Maria del Mar coastal footpath -also for bikes and horses- as being one the most beautiful in Asturias. Bayas beach -a particularly beautiful pristine beach and the longest in Asturias- is only a few minutes away.

SURFERS: Arnao beach -downstairs from the house- is a popular surfing spot as well as Salinas beach 2 kms away.

Lugar súper especial

La elección de la casa nos resultó muy fácil, ya que habían estado unos primos de mi marido y les había encantado. Así todo, pesé a haber visto las fotos, nos sorprendió muy positivamente por la fabulosa sensación de estar tan "en el mar", por su exquisita y cuidada decoración y por su perfecta limpieza. La casa está muy bien ubicada en Asturias y Piedras Blancas, a 5 minutos, tiene muy buenas tiendas de alimentación.

Recomendamos especialmente la playa de Bayas, a 10 minutos y la senda norte, junto a la casa, al atardecer. Sin embargo la sauna, pese a tener vistas directas al mar, no me gustó, ya que me produjo mareos durante un par de horas. Pienso que estaría mejor colocar en su lugar un jacuzzi.

Owner's Response: María José, Siento mucho que la sauna te mareara, lo cual fue una pequeña bajada de tensión. Las saunas no están recomentadas para personas de tensión baja. Adicionalmente, hay que tener en cuenta que la tensión sanguínea tiende a bajar si vienes a un sitio junto al mar, por eso se duerme mejor. Pese a esto, me alegra que, en general, hayáis estado bien. Traumhafte Aussicht - Ruhige Lage

Unsere fünfköpfige Familie (Kinder 12, 14, 16 Jahre alt) hat dieses Jahr zwei Wochen in dem Haus am Meer verbracht. Es liegt auf Felsen und hat nur zwei Nachbarhäuser, dessen Bewohner wir aber kaum gesehen und gehört haben. Das Haus ist, wie auf den Bildern zu sehen, mit viel Liebe zum Detail renoviert worden und bietet mit seinen drei Schlafzimmern Betten für fünf Personen. Das Wohn- Esszimmer, sowie die zweckmäßig eingerichtete Küche, erstrecken sich über die komplette erste Etage. Diese ist über eine recht schmale und steile Treppe zu erreichen. Durch ein Panoramafenster hat man einen tollen Blick auf das Meer und die Küste. Außerdem gibt es ein kleines Gästehaus mit Bad, Wohn- und Schlafzimmer. Ein kleiner Weg hinter dem Haus führt zum bewachten Strand von Arano. Wer hier seinen Urlaub verbringt, benötigt definitiv ein Auto, da sich der nächste Supermarkt und etliche Geschäfte im 5 - 10 Minuten entfernten Piedras Blancas befinden. Aber auch um an die tollen Strände und die vielen kleinen Ortschaften entlang der asturischen Küste zu kommen ist ein Auto notwendig. In etlichen Orten kann man Surfkurse buchen, was besonders für Teenager interessant ist. Ohne die vielen Infos, die wir vorab von Julio, dem ausgesprochen netten Vermieter bekommen haben, hätten wir manche Orte garnicht gefunden. Er hat uns optimal auf den Aufenthalt vorbereitet. Insgesamt ist es ein Ort um sich zu erholen und und guter Ausgangspunk für Unternehmungen. Die Gegend ist so gut wie garnicht touristisch erschlossen, was wir sehr reizvoll fanden.

Great family/group home in Asturias

We just returned from spending a week in Asturias with our family of seven and staying in Mr. Rojo's house. Asturias is beautiful and highly recommended. The house itself was the perfect home base to travel throughout the region. Mr. Rojo was extremely generous acting as our (electronic) tour guide. From the moment we booked, we must have received dozens of e-mails from him with great suggestions of things to do and visit. Once in the house, he called to make sure that everything was to our liking and again gave us tips on restaurants, etc. The house itself is unique, sitting above the ocean with great views of the nearby beaches and coast line. The yard was a great place for outdoor dining and barbecuing. Overall a great experience.

Très belle maison avec vue magnifique sur la mer

Maison extrêmement confortable et très bien équipée, bien chauffée, construction ancienne restaurée avec beaucoup de charme. Maison conforme au descriptif fourni par le propriétaire, très propre et bien entretenue. Cadre idéal pour les amoureux de la mer, avec vues sur l'océan, accès à la plage en quelques minutes de marche. Le propriétaire, Julio, nous a donné de très bons conseils pour profiter de notre séjour. Située à une demie-heure de Gijon par la route, accès par un ferry confortable reliant Saint Nazaire à Gijon. La région est très riche en sites de randonnées, plages sauvages, gastronomie, peu de touristes. Nous recommandons sans réserve.

Un endroit parfait

Point de rdv de 3 familles (5 adultes + 5 enfants), nous avions hésité avec d'autres maisons dans les Asturies, pour finalement choisir celle ci. Et nous n'avons eu aucun regret ! Enfin, si, un seul regret : celle de l'avoir quittée ...

Idéalement situé en bord de mer, elle a permis à tout le monde de se retrouver et de vivre au rythme choisi, sans imposer aux autres. De nombreuses activitées étaient disponibles : mer, marche sur un chemin qui passe à 30m de la maison et qui longe la mer sur de nombreux kms, pêche, plongée, farniente, sieste et tout cela en étant à quelques kms de la ville si nécessaire. Pour les spécialistes, il y a même des petites voies d'escalades sur la falaise devant la maison.

La vue est incomparable, et mon grand regret est de ne plus pouvoir faire de barbecue face à l'océan ! La vue depuis la maison est également magique : une fois enfoncé dans les canapés devant cette immense vitre, difficile de croire que vous n'êtes pas dans un bateau.

Le propriétaire, Julio, est une personne adorable qui a su nous indiquer différentes activités familiales, et qui a toujours su répondre à nos demandes. La population est également adorable, se mettant souvent en 4 pour discuter avec vous, vous rendre service. Une grande leçon d'accueil dont nous devrions nous inspirer !

Nous avons loué des maisons à différents endroits du monde, avec comme "règle" de ne jamais revenir 2 fois dans la même maison. Mais c'est la première fois que nous réfléchissons à déroger à celle ci en faisant une réunion famiale en hiver ...

Enfin, pour les personnes qui viennent du nord de l'Europe, nous avons découvert sur place qu'il existe une liaison ferry entre Nantes et Gijon, avec des bateaux qui naviguent la nuit, permettant ainsi d'éviter un long trajet.

Grateful family of five

More than just satisfied. We left with the feeling that we had done more than simply toured the Asturias. We were leaving with a sense of immense gratitude for our gracious host Mr. Julio Rojo. He responded immediately to my phone call and took the time to understand our situation (family of five looking for a last minute change in their accommodation). Asturias is well known for being one of the less visited parts of Spain. For the person interested in the outdoors it offers glaciers, glacial lakes, rivers and mountains. As primarily vegetarian food lovers we enjoyed the local wine, cheese, the famed fabada among other local delicacies. Having a kitchen was important to us and the house has a well-equipped kitchen with microwave and refrigerator. The sitting area on the upper level has a large window offering a great vista onto a small cliff overlooking a rocky beach. The two bedrooms below have one and a half bathrooms (two WCs and, a bathtub and separate shower (the master bedroom has a large bathroom which is very tastefully done up). The caretaker for the house was extremely prompt and punctual in responding to our arrival and requests. The owner took a personal interest in guiding us to the several sites located in and around Piedras Blancas. On the day we arrived we went to Luanco - a quiet seaside town with a beach. The next day we drove a couple of hours to Somiedo which is just a complete eyegasm - seven glacial lakes to hike around, houses inhabited over thousands over years. We also made it to Cangas de Onis where the famed Picos the Europa formed the backdrop for a perfect day of riding a canoe and riding quads around the hill. We drove to Covadonga a glacial lake found at the end of a breath-taking drive through narrow mountain roads on the last afternoon. Our time included a drive to Cabos Pienas - where the land juts out in dramatic cliffs toward the sea - a great albeit cold sunset. Through our time in Spain, Asturias was perhaps the least tourist-infested and most fun place we spent time in. A big thanks to Mr. Rojo who helped us organize this wonderful little holiday.
