Has Potential, but not very clean
We thought that this condo was quite reasonable for the price. It would be tight for a family of four, but suitable in size/layout. The condo complex is indeed on very top of the mountain, has incredible views from the poolside, friendly residents, and very well kept grounds. It really does have a lot of potential.
However, I was quite disappointed in the cleanliness of this cabin: there was dried up food in the silverware drawer, gunk in the medicine cabinet and in the drawer under the main floor bed, the coffeepot had not even been wiped down, obvious food splats on the wall, the bathroom faucet didn’t look like it had been wiped, a half of an old cookie and mounds of dirt/dust were under the chair, and there were a lot of hairs everywhere- even in the refrigerator. We were very short on dishes until we realized that most of them were left clean in the dishwasher from the previous renters. I am all about simple quarters, but they must be clean!!!
If this does not deter you, here are some things I wish I would have known so that I could have packed differently:
1) Bring EVERYTHING. We figured we’d save on food and buy groceries for breakfast. When we arrived for a 4 day stay, there was only 1 roll of toilet paper, a couple of paper towels left on a roll, no napkins, coffee filters, or trash bags, and no grocery store in the vicinity other than the Walgreens on the Gatlinburg main drag (where a box of cereal cost $6, so you can imagine how much it cost to buy all provisions). You will pass grocery stores in Sevierville, so stop while you can! Bring a couple of dishrags and kitchen towels as there are only one of each of these. There are four bath towels, though.
2) There is a trolley that goes through town that you can ride for 50 cents per rider. It would have been very convenient to just park where we were staying and hop on to the trolley. However, since downtown Gatlinburg is so busy, it was nice to get away up the mountain to the quiet. You can park in town for $5 a day, so it isn’t really that bad.
3) The condo is on the third floor, so not handicap accessible.
4) It’s faster to get to the condo if you don’t drive through the town of Gatlinburg. If you take the Gatlinburg Bypass to the park right after getting through Pigeon Forge, you will still have the option to access Gatlinburg via the other direction at the other side of the Bypass. When you are coming into town from that side, light #10 is the very first light in town.
Owner's Response: We vacation in our condo a few times a year and care for it lovingly, as a second home. We've never received negative feedback until now and we wanted to honor our guests' comments. We addressed these by contracting a management company that will handle all future cleanings/repairs/maintenance issues. In addition, we contacted the next guest after receiving this review, and they were very pleased with the condo's cleanliness and readiness for their arrival. They promised to post their excellent review!
