Theme Park Florida: Where to begin? Orlando of course! Disney World, Epcot, Seaworld, Universal Studios, waterparks and a whole lot more. This is all less than a 3 hour car ride away!
This was our third winter stay at Spring Lake House. Can't say enough about the comfy house and location. Birds on the quiet lake shore, but close to all Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda activities. Owners are gracious and welcoming, attentive to all details. We will definitely be back! Thank you for sharing your beautiful winter haven!
My husband and I with our fur babies had a very relaxing time in this beautifully maintained home with everything needed in a home away from home. We ate outside on the lanai every morning taking in the waterside and were tempted to use the inviting pool but the weather was still a bit cool for us Floridians. Maybe next time! We visited beautiful Punta Gorda for a delicious Christmas dinner and also dined on the wharf at Harpoon Harry's in Fisherman's Village several times The unique shops and surrounding water make for a very nice time and atmosphere. Be sure to take the boat ride during the holidays through the canals to experience the beautifully decorated homes and boats all twinkling in thousands of holiday lights. All in all it is a lovely home, cordially hosted by Don and Laura in which to spend a vacation and explore the many, many surrounding areas.
We loved the comfort and layout. The house was perfect for the 2 of us and our 2 dogs. We normally stay in timeshares, but this time wanted to bring our fur kids with us. We loved sitting on the lanai viewing the canal and watching the fish jump. One of our dogs fell in the pool a couple of times checking it out, so we put the screened enclosure up to keep them away from the pool. The house was very clean and supplied with everything we could think of that you would need. We used the charcoal grill when we did not eat out and had dinner on the lanai. Don and Laura have a book with places around the community and about the house which includes maps to 2 different hospitals in case they were needed, how to work the remotes which came in handy, and some menus from area restaurants. The neighborhood is very quiet and peaceful.
Fisherman's Village in Punta Gorda is great for shopping and dining. Harpoon Harry's and Village Fish Market both are great. Harpoon Harry's is by the dock and you can sit and watch the dolphins play while eating, they even have a doggie dining area. We will be booking our next vacation soon.
Upon arrival we were awed with the comfort and layout. It was like a little piece of paradise, but near everything. The house is well kept and was very clean. Don gave us a welcome call and even though we had a few mishaps with the house, they were immediately seen to. We did a lot of exploring, loved Fisherman's Village in Punta Gorda and the beaches on Gaspirilla Island was like a tropical island. We went to the Six Mile Cyprus Slough in Fort Meyers which is not to be missed if you love nature walks. We went to Tin City in Naples as well as the Botanical Gardens there. We didn't eat out a lot, but loved grilling and eating most of our meals on the screened pool area. HARPOON Harry's at Fisherman's Village had excellent seafood with a great view. We would more than recommend this property, we had a great stay.
What can we say that we didn't say last year - Great place - private, quiet, terrific heated pool, view is very natural and tropical. Weather was outstanding - 80's most days. Don the pool guy and "evil" landlord was the best at taking care of everything and at the same time respected our privacy.
We're booking for next year again.

Port Charlotte is located on Charlotte Harbor, a large marine estuary. The harbor offers access to the Gulf of Mexica via Boca Grande Pass, site of the best tarpon fishing in the world. The harbor itself abounds with opportunities for in-shore fishing, deep sea fishing, sailing, powerboating, kayaking, bird watching, porpoise sighting, manatee encounters, white sand beach walking, snorkeling, diving, shark tooth hunting, fossil hunting and more. Port Charlotte is a short drive from Disney World, Sea World and other Orlando attractions, as well as Sarasota's Ringling Museum, Selby Gardens and Tampa's Busch Gardens. Port Charlotte is a 3.5 hour drive from Miami and Miami Beach, and 5 hours from the Florida Keys.
This is simply a location central to many of Florida's finest destinations, but it is certainly a premier destination in itself.
