Three charming apartments in an authentical castle dating back to 12th C. in the typical green hills of Chianti Classico.The castle has undergone various restorations over the centuries which have highlighted its architectural features giving it a particular charme and giving its structure an aura of olden times. The castle itself is very picturesque, built in stone in a square surrounding on a hill overlooking Greve in Chianti. It has a peaceful and a dominating position in front of Montefioralle Castle. From the garden and the windows you have a panoramic view over surrounding green hills with olive trees and vineyards.The apartments have use of a private lovely garden (450 m2). The Colognole Castle is ideally located for short day trips to all of the sights of Tuscany. Florence is an hour away by car or reliable, comfortable bus service, the recommended way to visit the great city. Siena is about 1 hour and half by car.

The Quaratesi apartment is on the second and third floors. On the second floor are two bedrooms, two modern baths with showers, as well as the kitchen and a large dining room with a fireplace. The third floor contains a third bedroom and a very large living room with a second fireplace. Architectural features include an entrance hallway with a vaulted ceiling and a private courtyard with a typical Tuscan loggia. The apartment has access to the lovely garden through the courtyard and another room.

Florence in an hour away by car or reliable, comfortable bus service, the recommended way to visit that great city. Siena is about 1.30 hours away by car to the south as is San Gimignano with its dramatic towers to the west. Lucca,Pisa, Arezzo, Volterra,Perugia and even Assisi can be visited in a day. There are many other lesser-know but equally charming Tuscan hill towns close by like Radda in Chianti, Panzano in Chianti , Castellina in Chianti, Volpaia.

  • A 30% deposit is required when the reservation is confirmed by us. The deposit should be made by wire transfer. In the case of cancellation made more than 30 days prior to the arrival date, 50% of the deposit will be returned. The deposit is forfeited when the cancellation takes place less than 30 days prior to arrival date.
    Final payment is due 30 days before arrival by wire transfer.
  • Rental rate includes: bed linen and bath towels which will be changed weekly. Rental rate does not include:
    electricity, gas for cooking and heating, telephone which are charged on consumption and final cleaning for Euros 90.00
  • A security deposit for Euros 200.00 is required to be paid to the property representative upon arrival. The security deposit will be returned to the renter before departure minus extra charges or accidental damages to the property.
    Meals and Tuscan cooking can be provided upon request and paid before departure.

THE GARDEN: From the garden and the windows you have a panoramic view over the surrounding green hills with olive trees and vineyards. The owners spent long time to choose particular type of plants from three generations. In early June, the wild jasmine and herbs in bloom, adding another magical touch.

The Ultimate Tuscan Experience

This is the place to experience the real Tuscany. The apartment was beautiful and loaded with antiques. The views were breathtaking. The grounds were alive with flowers, hospitality and unforgettable scents. Its a good central location to tour Tuscany by car. The owners go beyond service to offer friendship, yet still insure privacy. I can't wait to return.

A wonderful week in Tuscany

My wife and I, our daughter, her husband and 2 young children (under 10) spent the most memorable week at the castle in July. Our hosts Fausto, Rita and Rosita went out of their way to make us most welcome and we could not have asked them to be more attentive.
We stayed in the Quaratesi appartment and the accommodation was ideal for our group - 2 couples in their own bedrooms and the 2 children in the third bedroom
The castle is beautifully situated at the top of a hill with magnificent views of the Tuscan countryside.
From Greve it is very easy to visit the main cities and towns - Florence, Sienna, San Gimignano etc and if you are wine lovers like us there is plenty of opportunities to taste excellent Chianti wines.
We flew into Pisa and I would say it is necessary to hire a car to be able to get around.
Rita provided a magnificent lunch on the day we arrived and our greatest regret is that we did not study their website sufficiently to realise we could have asked her to do dinner under the trees in her garden, or even get Italian
cooking lessons.
I would suggest you ask Rosita for recommendations on good local restaurants. There is an excellent restaurant in Montefioralle - the next village - but those in Greve square
are rather ordinary.
Would we go there again? Absolutely!
