This 2nd (top) floor apartment boasts superb views over Mahon harbour and is set in the beautiful gardens of La Gardenia, Sol del Este. The 2 balconies at the back overlook Mahon harbour & garden while the balcony at the front overlooks the communal pool & beautiful gardens. The airy living space allows you to relax when indoors and take in the fantastic views on offer. There are 2 bedrooms - 1 double en suite (king size bed) with balcony & 1 twin with balcony, a separate bathroom, kitchen/diner with dual aspect, the living room with Satellite TV/DVD, CD player with balcony overlooking the communal pool. La Gardenia is about 15 minutes from Mahon Airport (however not in flight path - so you never hear any airplanes!) and has 2 restaurant/bars, supermarket, small cove with sun bathing areas. The pretty harbour of Calas Fonts is a 5 minute walk & it has lots of excellent restaurants, bars, shops & a great street market at night. Es Castell (also 5 Mins) has banks, bars, restaurants, shop

LOVELY APARTMENT SUPERB VIEWS

40 La Gardenia is really well set out, clean and well equipped. The views of the harbour from the balconies and the garden were amazing. We watched sailing ships with massive sails, ferries, cruise ships and fishing boats passing in and out. We have already recommended the property to friends and relatives. The private gardens and pool are very well maintained. There were several good restaurants in Cala Font a 10 to 15 minute walk away - very handy in the evening. The owner and onsite property manager provided good customer service and information which helped with our visit.

NICE APT OVERLOOKING PRETTY GARDENS AND POOL AREA

Quite a steep hike to reach the Apt approx 30 steps to the front door.Once inside the views make the climb worth while.Living areas are quite spacious and well furnished however the bedrooms are a little on the small size especially the twin room which would be more suitable for two children.The en suite shower room is quite compact and my husband tended to use the bathroom which is more roomy though could do with a wall or floor cabinet.Extra towels would have been nice especially as we were staying for 10 days.It was clean and quite well maintained.The outside gardens have some lovely plants and are immaculately kept as is the pool area and it is very peaceful.The restaurant closest to the apt was friendly and the food was quite good and ideal if you don't want to walk very far.Most evenings we walked to Calas Fonts to sample the many restaurants and found the set menus to be excellent value. The buses were quite frequent and easy to use and not expensive.Carol was very prompt in confirming our stay and answering my questions. All in all we had an enjoyable stay .

Owner's Response: We are glad that you had a great time at our holiday apartment. As you say the steps are worth it once you see the views we have. We also like being up and away from everythng and everyone which is another benefit of being on the top floor. Bedrooms in Spanish apartments tend to be on the small size and although a lot of people put small beds into the bedrooms we prefer to have the king sized bed for maximum comfort and a good nights sleep!
Towels and bed linen are changed every 7 days as this is the normal booking duration i.e. 7, 14 or 21 days but I will look into it should we get another 10 day booking.
La Gardenia is a special place and as you say the gardens are beautifully kept. It has the best combination of being in a quiet peaceful place with a more lively Calas Fonts only a 10 minute walk away. We hope that you come back to stay with us again some time in the future...

OUR HOLIDAY

I genuinely cannot recommend this apartments highly enough. It's large, modern and spacious and It has everything you need for an enjoyable stay. Fully equipped kitchen/diner should you wish to prepare meals, complete with washing machine and dishwasher. Lounge big enough for all the family to relax in with TV and satellite channels/wifi. Two bedrooms with ample storage and hanging space one with en suite and an additional family bathroom. The apartment is spotlessly clean, light bright and airy. The three balconies provide views over the swimming pool and amazing views over the harbour, we spent many hours watching the ships/boats go by. The grounds are beautiful and really well maintained. The location is fantastic, a short stroll away from the local harbour at Calas Fonts, where we had a meal every night in a different restaurant, the waiters are so friendly and welcoming. Mahon is only a short taxi ride away (we did actually walk there) where you will again find great restaurants and shops near the harbour, which is full of fantastic yachts. To summarise, great apartment, fantastic location and we will definitely be booking again for next year.

AMAZING BREAK

I can't recommend this apartment enough, it has everything you need and more in it. My boyfriend and I had our best holiday ever this year and we'll be booking again for next year. The pictures on the website don't do the apartment and views justice, you have to see them for yourself. The gardens and pool area were spotless and well maintained. The washing machine was of great use and there were plenty of cleaning products already there, we just replaced what we used for the next person and what we did buy was reasonably priced in the Spar supermarket.

We ventured in to Cala Fonts (10-15 min walk each way) to eat, drink and pick up items from the supermarket most days. We found the Spar in Cala Fonts to be the cheapest for most things, especially bottled water (30 cents for 1.5 litres).

If you get the opportunity, I would visit the Gin factory in Mahon town centre (closes at 13.00 on Saturday and closed all day Sunday), the staff were really friendly and you get to try all the different gin products :o)

Carol the apartment owner was really helpful and provides a document with hints, tips and places to go, the apartment also has plenty of information in it as well including a Visitors Book (we forgot to put in an entry this year, sorry) but is worth a read as other guests give recommendations for restaurants etc.

My only request would be for an extra set of towels for the week because if the weather wasn't good, we may have struggled to get the towels dry, however we were lucky this year to have lovely weather every day.

A REAL HOME FROM HOME

My wife and I have just returned from our second visit to this "home from home". Bookings with Carol are dealt with a positive and easy manner with no question unanswered. The apartment is well equipped; in a quiet area with rear view of the Mahon waterway and rising Sun and the front overlooking the pool and the sunsets. About 10 mins easy walk into Cala Fonts and Escastell where all you needs are catered for by friendly shopkeepers.A water taxi up to the lovely town of Mahon a must.! Eating out is of a good standard with "Espana" and La Lola our particularly favourite restaurants. Good selection of food well cooked and served by friendly staff.
As a bonus we had wall to wall sunshine. Thank you again Carol. Bill.

EXCELLENT ACCOMMODATION AND LOCATION

Visited La Gardenia in June 2013, and found it to be exactly as described in the advert. The apartment was beautifully clean and well equipped, and the complex was lovely and quiet. The area was quiet too and suited my requirements perfectly. Booking was easy and straightforward and Carol was very swift with her responses to my queries, as well providing all necessary information prior to arrival. This was my first visit to Menorca, and I will be returning to stay at 40 La Gardenia again soon!

Apartment No. 40 La Gardenia is situated in Sol del Este just a five minute walk from Calas Fonts & Es Castell. It is a 10 minute drive from Menorca capital Mahon & 10 minute drive from Mahon airport. Calas Fonts & Mahon have fantastic restaurants to suit all tastes. Mahon also has fantastic shops from designer to high street. It is also a very child friendly island. Mahon harbour is the 2nd largest natural harbour in the world so there is a constant flow of boats from powerboats, yachts, cruisers including cruise liners which dock with ease in Mahon (all sail past La Gardenia). Buses, Taxis & car hire are very reasonable on the island. Minorca is only 9 miles wide & 32 miles long so it is easy to explore the diverse attractions from beautiful sandy beaches to prehistoric archaeological sites. It is one of the most spectacular diving locations in the med. The island is a Mecca for families and without the pubs & clubs of other islands it is safe & welcoming whatever your age.

No. 40 is a 2nd floor apartment and therefore accessed by steps, please consider this when booking. Once up there the views are superb though! Children are welcome (we have two young boys ourselves) and cots; high chairs etc. can be arranged. The outdoor communal pool is maintained regularly along with the beautiful gardens. Sun loungers are provided for sitting around the pool area or gardens. A barbecue is provided and many apartments make use of the beautiful views by setting up the barbecue and eating al fresco in the gardens in the evening time.
