SPECIAL CARNIVAL, TWO WEEKS FOR THE PRICE OF $ 600 VALID UNTIL 30 MAY

My wife and I stayed at this apartment for 5 days in May 2012. It was a very unpleasant experience to say the least and we had to leave a day early. When we first met with the owner at the apartment we were a little surprised by the poor condition of the elevator in the building. The pics on the website make it look like a decent place, but the elevator is unstable and scary. We brushed the elevator off and went in to check out the apartment.

To the owner's credit, the apartment appears at first as the pictures depict. However, it is fairly dark and dingy which you don't pick up from the pics. Anyways it was tolerable so we stayed and settled in. The first night my wife went to shower and water soaked the whole floor. I thought that it was her fault, but when i showered I saw there was no way to do it without getting the whole floor wet. So now we had to remove the bathmat and wipe down the floor after each shower.

At night we tried to turn on the air conditioning only to find out there was no a.c. The website listing says there is a.c., but there is none! When we asked the owner, he said he would try to find us a portable unit. For security and convenience reasons, this didn't make sense for us. Anyways, the place does not have the advertised a.c. So, during the day it was so hot we could not stay in the apartment and at night we had to sleep in front of a table fan.

The second or third night there was a sudden banging on the door. We hesitantly opened the door to the frantic superintendent of the building named Pierre. He told us that the shower was leaking so much water that it was flooding the apartment below us. He wanted to come back and work on the bathroom for a couple hours that night or the next day. We told him we weren't comfortable with that so he spent an hour in the place making a temporary repair.

Finally, we had to call Christian and complain. We told him about the shower and the air conditioning and that we were not comfortable and were leaving early. He accepted that the situation was unpleasant and agreed to return 30% of our payment. We were more upset that our vacation had been ruined and did not want to haggle over money so we accepted the offer. He told us to bill him on paypal and once we got home we did. He the refused to pay the whole amount by trying to deduct fees that were previously unmentioned. He would only pay 60% of what we he originally agreed to. We refused his money.
