PPL’s Lake Wallenpaupack Welcomes Anglers in National Fishing Contest
Somewhere in the depths of Lake Wallenpaupack a largemouth bass, walleye or a rainbow trout may be swimming with a $1 million tag and waiting for a juicy worm as part of the nationwide “Wanna’ Go Fishing for Millions?” contest sponsored by Cabela’s®, a leading outfitter of hunting, fishing and outdoor equipment.
“Lake Wallenpaupack is a popular destination for anglers throughout the year, and now they have another reason to come here in search of a possible million-dollar fish and other tagged fish that qualify for other prizes,” said Paul Canevari, PPL’s community relations director for the Pocono region.
“The contest is being conducted in several locations across the country, so when Cabela’s approached the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission about a suitable location in Pennsylvania, we were honored that they chose Lake Wallenpaupack,” he said. “If you haven’t visited Lake Wallenpaupack, now’s a good time to experience it and come prepared with your lucky lures and love of the outdoors.”
Lake Wallenpaupack is one of 12 lakes in Pennsylvania and one of 19 states nationwide participating in the Cabela’s contest with fish stocked with prize-winning tags. Bodies of water chosen for the contest are in states where Cabela’s has retail stores. The contest started Saturday, May 5 and continues through July 8. Prize winners will be announced online after July 8.
Contest details are available at www.cabelas.com/fishformillions or at any Cabela’s retail store.
I had a wonderful stay at this property!! It offered the right amount of peace, quiet, and solitude without being cut off from civilization!! Cell service is not a problem; wi-fi and cable is available- should you want it. Yet there is the most beautiful lake with a beautiful swan to bond with should you so desire!! Brenda and Peter were helpful hosts. I would definitely stay there again and recommend it without any hesitation!
Beautiful, clean, serene studio that I wouldn't mind staying at again!! The owners were great, check in was super easy and they made some great recommendations for where to eat in the area. This is a great place to go to just relax and kick back. We had my 3 year old daughter and she loved all the sights and sounds of the lake and the woods. We did some sight seeing in the area like the Claws N Paws animal park too.
The studio has a well stocked kitchen with pots, pans, plates, etc. The bathroom was large and spacious. There is a tv with cable hook and even WIFI available, though I didn't need it because my cell phone(VZW) worked great up there.
My daughter didn't want to leave because she said she's going to miss her new friend Mr Ducky, which is actually the resident swan of the lake.
Overall, a great time and at a great place!
If you are looking for a wonderful place to decompress, this is it! I stayed with a girlfriend and both of us want to go back with our husbands. The lake is more of a kayaking lake, which means there are birds, wildlife, and fishing - no motor boats - but not really a place for swimming. The rental itself is really clean and beautiful. We sat on the dock, grilled, and enjoyed the views from the deck with a glass of wine. It was really great. It can sleep 4 people who are comfortable sharing space. The owners are great to deal with. There is a place in town called the Ledges - look it up - and we decided to break our reservation to just stay here and grill because it is so beautiful.
We stayed over the weekend in mid December. Although the outside was cold the studio was super warm and fireplace was really nice. The studio is actually bigger than the pictures and very spacious. We loved the location of the studio - nice and quiet and view from the private balcony is absolutely beautiful. The owners are super helpful and very nice. They even take the extra steps and showed the town to us in the night. The studio has good internet connection also – all you need are your towels and bed sheets. Everything you need is in close proximity, restaurant, shops, grocery, museums... We did wine tasting and horseback riding. Then a little antique haunting in the town and take a ride to the Christmas store and flea markets. There are nice restaurants (try Chef Anthony) in and around the town. I would definitely come back and recommend this location to all my friends. It is perfect for couples who want little quite time or busy New Yorkers to relax. Or anyone else who wants to treat themselves to something nice. We will be back for summer! Thanks !!!
