A spectacular adventure awaits you here at Historic Hawkwood which has been restored to offer Five-Star refinement in an old west setting located in the prestigious West Boulder River Valley. Welcome, you will love your stay here!

Sink down into a cozy leather sofa and draw a fluffy throw blanket over your toes while you sit while you sit in front of the fire inside of the old 1890's historic stagecoach stop that once was the town of Hawkwood, Montana. You are now in the living room of this uniquely designed home. You may dine inside at the dining table or outside on the deck depending on your favorite season using a fully stocked gourmet kitchen with top of the line appliances, soap stone counter tops/farmer's sink and breakfast bar.

This evening after star gazing and reclining on the expansive outside deck you may retire in one of the three deluxe bedroom suites, take a soak in an antique tub or Kohler whirlpool tub. You may even decide to take the upstairs bedroom suite with the beautiful handcrafted king bed and have a steam shower to relax before you sleep in crisp cotton linens or snugly flannel sheets.

Tomorrow, you can find adventure with a hike to the West Boulder Meadows where you can take a picnic and find world class fly fishing or you can just relax on the deck with a good book and enjoy the spectacular vistas of the Gallatin National Forest while viewing wild life in the meadow below. If you visit Hawkwood in the fall you will experience breathtaking colors changing against vivid blue clear skies. Fresh air here is FREE!

Here in Shangerlai you can spend a day rafting or kayaking the Yellowstone River and stop off at Pine Creek for a cook-out and live music on your way home.

Livingston offers the famous Stockman Steak House for a real Montana experience or you can dine at the Rib and Chop, visit local art galleries or take in a day of shopping. One evening you may want to visit Big Timber's famous Grand Hotel for a gourmet dining experience or Sunday brunch. Visiting the Main Boulder's Natural Bridge and stopping off at the famous Road Kill Cafe makes for a fun day for those that choose to stay behind form a world class guided fishing trip on one of the may local nearby rivers. During the winter months cross country skiing is fabulous and sledding is great fun for the entire family. Hawkwood is a warm and inviting winter hideaway, a great place to spend a family Christmas or just take in a fun winter break in the beautiful place we call 'God's Country'. Great luxury in the wilderness!

The house is lovely, both luxurious and historic. We had a lot of fun staying at the house with its incredible view, hiking nearby, and sightseeing with our 2 and 4 year olds (who are perfectly happy to do without pools and playgrounds for a week when there are bears and pronghorn to see). Wonderful hiking close by. The owner was extremely helpful with requests and information about the area. We wish we had understood upon rental that the property has no river access for fishing, and the closest access is a short drive away. There was some trouble with the refrigerator during our stay, to which the owner was as responsive as possible, but due to the remoteness of the house was quite inconvenient.

A magnificent property in a beautifully secluded location. If you're OK with a very scenic, 40 minute drive on a windy gravel road to the nearest town, you will love this place. Elegantly rustic with all the amenities. There were a few minor glitches which the owner dealt with quickly. Bring binoculars or telescope. Wildlife seen from the deck: deer, turkey, black bear, grouse, sandhill crane.
