'Woods & Water' is where you will enjoy comfort, fun and relaxing in our cozy-comfy cabin type home on Lake Lancer. Enjoy your breakfast on the large deck while you listen to the birds and watch the sun come up. Relax in the log swing or Adirondack chairs while watching the sun set on the lake… feel the gentle breeze in the large tree shaded yard. Head out on the lake for some great fishing (Bass, Walleye, Northern Pike and Pan fish). In the evening, sit around the fire pit with a glass of wine or make S’mores.

Woods & Water is the perfect place for that great “Up North” feeling that we all love and is only 2 ½-3 hours from Detroit.

The lake view is not just for summer…. enjoy all the changing seasons of Michigan.....great view of the colors of autumn…beautiful snow covered lake during the winter.

Lake Lancer is a private All-Sports lake located at Sugar Springs Recreational Community (half way between Gladwin & West Branch).

During the summer enjoy the lake with swimming, boating, skiing/tubing, and fishing etc.

Great place for hunters and fisherman and if you love Michigan outdoor sports there are lots and lots of trails in the area for hiking, ATV/ORV, X-country skiing, snowmobiling and snowshoeing as we are just off of M-30 that runs thru the 85,000 acres of the Gladwin State Forest and also near Clare, Houghton Lake, West Branch, Tawas and Oscoda, etc.

Winter is also a great time to enjoy the lake with Snowmobiling, X-County Skiing and Ice Fishing….all of which you can do right outside the door or just about anywhere nearby.

Spend a few hours sledding with the kids on the hills or skating on the pond at the Sugar Springs campground chalet. Getting a little chilled from your day out-doors..........warm up at the outside fire pit or the indoor fireplace inside the Chalet.

The main floor living area is a combination living room (with Franklin stove-style gas fireplace), dining room, a fully equipped kitchen and enclosed porch with windows and door- walls that look out over the deck, woodsy yard and the lake. The main floor also includes a master bedroom (queen bed), queen sofa sleeper, a full bath and laundry room. The second floor has a full bath and 2 bedrooms with 2 full size beds in each room. All bed & bath linens are provided

Amenities:

Located on All-Sports Lake Lancer. Although the property does not have a sandy beach, the shoreline is grass and runs right up to the water which is shallow enough for small children to swim and play.

-Large deck with picnic table and propane grill

-Wooden Swing, Adirondack chairs, and a fire pit

-Dock (bring your own boat, water craft or rent our pontoon)

-The Sugar Springs-Queens Way boat launch is just down the road and Kings Way beach club (which has a sandy beach) is not far from the house.

-The property has a long driveway with plenty of room for extra cars or trailers with your ice huts or hunting gear.

Sugar Springs Amenities: As our guest, you will have access to all amenities. A few of the amenities require a fee for the activity. There is a fee schedule in our Welcome Book. Sports equipment is not provided.

-2 All-Sports Lakes (Lake Lancelot and Lake Lancer) great for swimming, fishing, boating and jet/water skiing.

-15 Beach Clubs: boat launch, picnic area, bathrooms, sandy beach and roped off swim area and 2 have playground equipment and a Playscape for the kids.

Sugar Springs has beach clubs scattered through out the community. Not all of them have the same amenities.

The Hearth Restaurant & Pub

-18 hole Championship Golf Course, Driving Range, Pro Shop and Golf Pro

-The Campground has a Chalet with inside fireplace and picnic tables, outside fire pit, catch & release pond for kids (ice skating pond in winter), sledding hills, playground area and hiking/x-country ski trails (the ski trail is not groomed).

'PURE MICHIGAN' - ALL SEASONS.....

There are numerous recreational opportunities to enjoy in this beautiful area.

Take a drive thru Clare and Amish country. Stop at the Amish farm on M-18 for fresh eggs, homemade jam & jellies and some really yummy baked goods.

Just before dusk, drive the back roads around the property to spot the local wildlife…white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, etc.

Enjoy 'Pure Michigan's' summer beach & water activities (swimming, skiing, boating, fishing, and water sports) from the property or in the area.

Numerous trails for Hiking/Biking, ATV/ORV/Motor Cross, ski, snowmobile and snowshoe trails in the area. Canoe/Kayak the Rifle or Au Sable Rivers. Snowsnake Golf & Ski has Ziplining as well as golf & downhill skiing.

AUTUMN:

Drive the River Road Scenic Byway thru Huron National Forest as the trees change to their beautiful autumn colors. Drive F-97 or M-18 north towards Prudenville/St. Helen to see the awesome Fall color change or head over to the West Branch area and drive north on Fairview Rd where you will pass the Ogemaw Trails for snowmobiling and X-country skiing…stop and go for a hike with your camera and see the beautiful color change up close (note your favorite trails so that you can come back again to ski, snowmobile or ride your ATV).

Cider Mills and Orchards, there is a great one right in Gladwin...Fruitful Orchards (yummy cider and a variety of donuts and has some really nice crafts). Stop by a farm stand and stock up on apples, pumpkins or fresh vegetables. Go for a hay ride at Lost Arrow overlooking the Tittabawassee River.

WINTER FUN: Enjoy ice skating, skiing, snowmobiling, sledding, snowshoeing & ice fishing in Michigan's 'Winter Wonderland’.

what a wonderful backdrop for a vacation. The view of the lake is one the best! Kids are having such a great time tubing, wake boarding and fishing. This is exactly what we were looking for this time around. This cottage reminds me of the one we used to visit as kids many, many years ago. I am so glad the kids were able to experience it.

Thank you to ThreeSistersVacations! This house was exactly what we were looking for in a vacation rental.

The location on the lake was perfect (near the canal so not a lot of traffic) with a view of the beautiful lake from the living room or deck.

This rental is exactly as described. Well kept, well stocked a nice relaxing home away from home.

This was our last vacation as a family with our oldest off to college and we really loved the quiet setting, the peaceful lake and the great memories we made that week.

There were 6 people and 2 dogs in our party and there was plenty of room. The fact that this house has 2 bathrooms helped with 4 teenage girls!

Thank you again for the opportunity to rent this house. We will definitely be back.!

I'm having technical difficulties posting my review. If you want to post it for me... here's the text.

The listing description of the property "Woods and Water" was accurate and we were happy to find everything in order and clean when we arrived. The kitchen was well stocked with the essential dishes and pans and plenty of linens were provided, too. Lin and Sue provided excellent customer service, always friendly and promptly returning phone calls and emails prior to and during our stay.

The welcome binder was detailed and helpful. I would suggest reviewing the directions to the property as we found some mistakes, but luckily our GPS led us there. Also, it would be nice to provide some "Lemy Shine" or other hard water rinse aid for the dishwasher as the water is hard and by second day there was a heavy gritty film on the dishes, which we solved with purchasing some rinse aid and leaving it for future guests.

We rented a speed boat one day and took the kids tubing, which was their favorite activity to do while we were there. We also brought our own canoes and paddled around the lake. The boys enjoyed swimming in the lake, although there was a fair amount of seaweed near the shore. The back deck was great and we ate outside every night as there was plenty of seating with the large picnic table and deck chairs. The backyard was large with plenty of shade trees and the swing provided a quiet spot for gazing at the lake.

I would definitely recommend this property for family vacations and family reunions. We also appreciated the board games when it rained the last two days of our visit and the Sugar Shack, 5 minutes away, has movies to rent and a quick drive to pick up the essentials. Thanks for a memorable family reunion.

This is the only guest that has commented regarding issues with directions. The map and directions are provided from Google maps. I have contacted the guest to find out what specifically she found an issue with regarding the directions and will correct if necessary.
There was an unusual amount of seaweed in the Sugar Springs lakes this year. We believe it to be due to the early and continued days of hot weather. Sugar Springs treats the lakes for seaweed and we have not run into this issue in the past. We are always glad to hear any guest comments that need to be addressed. Thank you.

My Husband & I along with 6 children Stayed at the Woods & Water in Gladwin in August 2012. This Place is Great for a Family Wanting a Get Away & Offers all the Perks of home. It is so peaceful & the Morning View from the living room is Breathtaking watching the sunrise. It was enjoyable to watch the Kids actually be kids again & away from the Cell phones & Video Games! They spent hours on the Lake Swimming & Fishing! Roasting S'mores on the Bonfire at night offered many nights of Family Time! Anyone looking to get away from it all should really consider staying here! You will not be sorry!!
