8 kilometers from Marciac, our newly renovated farmhouse stands in a one acre plot, with no neighbours in sight. The house is bright, spacious and equipped, with all you need to make a great holiday with family or friends. Our lovely pool and terrace are reached by a short flight of steps affording amazing views to the west, east and south, perfect to watch the sunset with a glass of wine. The views of the Pyrenees are panoramic on a clear day. The house, newly refurbished, is fresh and furnished in a homely way, with some lovely pieces of furniture; truly a home from home!
We are a family of 5, living in Dorset since 2007. Previously we lived in France for ten years. Our three children were born in France. We bought Maison Rigabert as a ruin in 2001. Whilst living in our home in Blousson Serian, we renovated Maison Ribabert, until it was ready to use as a holiday home in 2006.
Laura Deans purchased this house in 2001
We bought Maison Rigabert, as it had an amazing view of the Pyrenees, the view we had always dreamed of having.
Maison Rigabert is competely private and peaceful. It is surrounded by fields and we don't have any neighbours. This is perfect for the odd party or BBQ and when you want to play loud jazz music!
We found this property to be everthing we were looking for.
It was clean well equiped with excellent space and accomodation. You need a car to get around but the location of this property far out weighed any hassle in driving.
We look forward to re-booking next year.
What a fantastic house! Beautifully and sensitively restored, everything you need, comfy and stylish rooms and a fabulous pool for relaxing in when it got too hot!
Everything was well maintained including the lovely garden (the smell of lavender just heavenly) and our communication with the owner was good throughout.
The nearby town of Marciac was lovely: there are great local markets for the much needed good food and drink and if we needed to cool down we were near to the beautiful mountains.
Great place for both adults and families. Really relaxing and a great place to chill out and enjoy the good local food and wine!
The two week holiday in Maison Rigabert was delightful. It was peaceful (no neighbours), relaxing and with the good weather, we enjoyed eating out by the pool in the evenings, watching the lovely sunsets. (We) consisted of two kids, two adults and two pensioners and we all enjoyed the holiday in different ways i.e. my parents found it relaxing, my partner and I found the views fantastic and the place itself interesting,The kids enjoyed the pool. The villa itself was the best we've stayed in and we've stayed in quite a lot. I would recommend eating out at the boat in Marciac (fantastic food and very reasonably priced) or the restaurant in Tuillac (bit more expensive but lovely food). Auch was a lovely place especially the cathedral and strongly recommend going on the historic route. We ventured up to the pyrenees and took a cable car up the highest peak (recommend doing this in Sept as very hazy August). All in all, an excellent holiday and would strongly recommend it.
You can trust 100% you read, while looking at "Maison Rigabert" website.
My friends and I really had a very nice stay.
House is charming, very clean and well prepared.
Fantastic view, very pleasant swimming-pool... you will for sure relax during your holidays !
There are also a lot to discover in the Region, especially if you like nature and beautiful french small villages.
I will come back again !
If you really look for a home away from home, you love the Gers as much as we do, you want gorgeous views, the feeling to be on your own island of calm and beauty with stunning 360 degree views (including of the Pyrenees) and a great pool, yet close enough to the main road to Marciac and Tillac for shopping and entertainment, this is THE place to be. We couldn't have wished for a better equipped kitchen, more room, more comfortable beds or more top notch entertainment equipment (TV, satellite, DVD, hifi), let alone tasteful decoration in a warm and charming setting. Rigabert rocks and we love it. So did the kids (7, 15 and 17) and our guests. We'll be back!
Whilst the house is lovely and set in beautiful countryside the whole trip was spoilt by the handling of the rental deposit.
Our deposit cheque was cashed more than 2 weeks after our stay with no notice. It was not until my bank statement was received that I knew it had been cashed, a whole month after our stay. The reason given when I contacted the owner was that excessive cleaning was needed at the end of the stay. However, one would have expected the cleaning that was supposedly needed should have been included in the end of clean allowance which was supposedly part of the rental cost. When clairifcation of both the cleaning rates and what is included in the end of clean stay was sought no answer was given.
The balance of the deposit (the additional charge was reduced but was still excessive) was finally transferred back to me 44 days after our holiday had finished.
We, like others before us, complained about the chipped and cracked crockery and we have been informed that these have been replaced with new items for next year. All good news for future renters.
When we arrived we found that the master bedroom with the en suite was not made up and we can only assume that this was an attempt to reduce the end of clean cost or to reduce the effort required by the cleaners. Despite several requests no reason was given for the room not being available.
All in all the enduring memories wil be of conflict over the deposit rather than fond memories or what should have been a happy time.
I will be intrigues to see if this review is posted.
The house 8 mins from Marciac and 15 mins from Mirande with each having a weekly market and great public pools with slides for the kids. In Marciac and Tillac there are tennis courts open for a small charge to non-members. You'll be within 5 mins of Chateau Pallanne with a great 18 hole golf course. There are many more in the area so you could make a holiday of the golf alone. Marciac has a Jazz Festival the first two weeks of August. Mirande has a country and western festival the weekend of 14 July. Auch is famous for its cathedral. Pau has a lovely chateaus and the beautiful Boulevard des Pyrenees. Toulouse, 'La Ville Rose' is certainly worth a visit - stroll along the Garonne or take a coffee on the Place Capitol. The Pyrenees offer all manner of sport including biking, walking or skiing - only 75 mins away. The stunning Basque Coast is only a 2 hour drive away.
Other Activities: Market visits, Marciac Jazz festival, Chateau, Farmhouse restaurants
