We offer 6 comfortable character cottages all owned and carefully maintained by us. We are situated in 3 locations near the castles close to Chenonceaux east of Tours well located for exploring this lovely historic region of France. The cottages are located in villages near the river and vineyards and offer wonderful walks and cycling. Our cottages are well equipped with fully fitted gourmet kitchens, luxious bathrooms, beautifully appointed bedrooms with best quality bedding (we offer a linen service and cleaning). We have large enclosed gardens at Vrigny (3 cottages) and Bourre (2 cottages). Our sixth cottage is located in Francueil village square near the church cafe and shop. We offer one three bedroom cottage, three two bedroom cottages and two one bedroom cottages; baby equipment including cots on request. A holiday in one of our cottages offers you a peaceful break with lots of interesting places to visit, a chance to taste the local wines and excellent restaurants nearby

Suitable for a family of 4-6 or two couples situated in Vrigny close to Chateau de Chenonceau, Amboise and Montrichard in the Loire Valley. This old farmhouse with courtyard and large garden, has a large sitting room with open fireplace and a gourmet kitchen; two minutes from lovely vineyards walks and from the river Cher and five minutes from the village shops in St. Georges sur Cher. Character cottage, only a mile from the famous Chateau de Chenonceau in the beautiful Loire Valley, and situated in a quiet spot in a village amid the vineyards, has original beamed ceilings and was restored from the original 18th century farmhouse. 2 double rooms one with single bed and folding bed, cot and high chair available. 2 luxury bath/shower rooms. Friendly, family kitchen diner with large oak table lovely gourmet fitted kitchen with dish washer, washing machine, electric hob and NEFF oven, microwave, fridge freezer. Our cottages are situated in the heart of the Loire Valley chateau region valley of the kings, so are well placed for visiting the historic castles and towns of Chenonceaux, Chambord, Villandry, Azay-sur-Cher and Chinon and many others as well as the interesting towns on the river Loire including Amboise, Blois, Tours and Saumur. Our region is also famous for its Touraine Wines especially Vouvray, Chinon and Bourgueil. Our local village wines are Gamay and Sauvignon and very good they are too. We are also within a day trip of Sancerrre and Pouilly if you are keen to taste the Loire Valley wines, especially now the Autiroute A85 has been completed.

  • Non-refundable deposit of £100 per week required at time of booknig, the balancewill be paid 6 weeks before your holiday. Please e mail me for a booking form. Prices include heating and light, cookibg and water, but not bed linen and towels (avaiable to hire) or terminal cleaning.
  • Linen extra £30 per double bed; cleaning £50.
    Prices include elecctricity and water including heating; logs for the open fireplace are £20 a week
  • When you have paid for your holiday you will receive a pack with directions, loads of information about the cottage and the region etc.

Notes: If this cottage is not available the week you prefer please e mail me and ask about Le Vieux Boulangerie at Francueil. This cottage is really luxurious, more spacious than La Grange with 2 double bedrooms one with en-suite shower-room the other with a private bathroom; both bedrooms with corner sitting room for privacy. We have a range of bicycles for our guests to use at their pleasure. They are maintained by the local cycle shop so in good order, We are on the edge of the vineyards and so have lovely walks here and by the river Cher. Maison Doiseau has a large enclosed garden with plenty of garden furniture; there are two large walnut trees and apple trees, plus space to play ball or boules.

beautiful restored cottage in Loire area, nearby al lot off castles, the property was clean and well-maintained (nice kitchen and living room with all the equipment), nice garden for the children to play in
Owner's Response: Thank you. Maison Doiseau is a comfortable family home for those on holiday; and is ideal for two couples as well as those with children. Our Madame goes in after every guest to ensure the cottage is ready for our next guests. There is a large orchard garden, we are close to vineyards and river so great for walks or cycle rides. Our cottage is situated only 10 minutes drive from Chenonceaux, and is well located for the Loire Valley chateaux such as Amboise, Chambord, Villandry, Azay-le-Rideau. We are also in the heart of wine country and it is fun to go tasting.

Great visit - Location - location - location

We were looking for a quiet place to put our feet up for a week -and we found it at Mansion de la Grandmere. Our group had started off small and we had originally rented Mansion Doiseau. Our party grew to three couples and one child so we requested the larger house. The renovation of the homes is quite accommodating -- you will truly enjoy them.

The houses are located in the country in a very small village but easy bike riding distance to St. Charles which has a great bakery, butcher and small store which we visited on a daily basis. The beautiful Chenonceau Château is a good walk or an easy bike ride across the Cher River. There are many nice restaurants in the hotels in the town around the château. The best place to really stock up on food has again across the river, turn right at the light and go approximately 2 miles to the large department/food store on the left. You literally cannot miss it. It has a wonderful fish counter in it.

Don't look for nightlife. You are not in a tourist area on the south side of the Cher. I highly recommend the location for those of us who just want to absorb the community and enjoy some quiet time. Take time and walk back up into the vineyard to the left as you come out the gate -- a lovely couple runs the château hotel and vineyard -- stop by and try the Touraine you can't beat the price or the taste.

Sit back and enjoy the fire in the fireplace and wine and cheese with your friends.
