A home away from home in a lovely spot

  • 5 of 5
Coconut Hideaway is in a quiet neighborhood very near the beach with just the right amenities for a great vacation whether it's total relaxation, board games, walks on the nearby beach, bicycling almost anywhere on Sanibel via a network of bike paths, kayaking, shelling, daytrips to nearby islands, or visiting any of Sanibel's many nature reserves. We love using the screened in pool and deck to relax, read, do laps, and play with the kids. The furnishings are clean and comfortable, the kitchen plus outdoor grill easy to use, and we'll come back again.

Lovely Sanibel Home!

  • 5 of 5
This is the second time we have stayed in this property in the past several years. It is a lovely home that is perfect for relaxation. Just a few minute walk to the beach, which is easy to navigate. We easily walked it twice daily with a four year old and a one year old in tow. Check in and check out is very easy. The layout of the home is open concept with a fantastic lanai and pool. The pool is perfect and has a screen over it. There is a ledge in the pool that my daughter's loved to play on. The outdoor shower is perfect for washing off the sand from the beach! Since our previous stay, TV's have been added to the bedrooms, which my parents appreciated very much. The owners really have thought of many of the "extras". We really appreciated the wagon and umbrellas and put them to great use. The cart could use replacing, but we did fine with the wagon. The beaches of Sanibel are just nothing short of fantastic. The shelling is wonderful and the island calm and laid back. My husband and I have vacationed in several different Florida locations and always come back to Sanibel. Nothing compares to it as far as we are concerned. The beaches near this home are very quiet and sometimes we had the beach to ourselves! We had several great meals out and utilized the kitchen to cook breakfast meals in, which is typical for most beach vacationers. The home is very close to excellent paved walking/running/biking paths which were well used by the entire family. Really it was a perfect getaway for my family of four plus my parents. We obviously love the home as we have stayed twice. Furniture is showing some wear, but the overall feeling of the place more than made up for that! For anyone looking for a professional photographer for family photos, call Nick Adams! We had an awesome session and have some absolutely breathtaking family photos to show for it! Absolutely can't wait to go back! If you are looking for a well appointed beach home with a private pool and easy access to the beaches of Sanibel, I really don't think you can go wrong with this property!

The perfect place to get a wonderful rest!

  • 5 of 5
We went to Sanibel Island for the fourth times and the second time in this beautiful house with a nice swiming pool. We really enjoyed the quietness of the neigbourough: there is no noise in the sourounding and we are always amazing by this! Also, the proximity to the sea is a real advantage, and most of all, the possibility to find stuff like seachair and umbrella is really interesting! Everything is made for giving you the best for your stay.

Hideaway Court on Sanibel Island

  • 5 of 5
Our stay was everything we hoped for and the Sea Oats location was perfect. This private well furnished and maintained home on Hideaway Court has all the basic needs for a comfortable holiday including fast WiFi Internet for those who can't live without it! We had use of beach chairs and parasol that were easily transported to the beach using the trolley provided. We also had use of fishing rod and reel. The outside deck overlooking the spacious pool area was a relaxing place to sit any time of the day without the worry of the dreaded no-see-ums.

Two years ago we stayed at Mitchell's further along the prestigious West Gulf Drive in their beach cottage closest to the sea (Ocean Mist). We chose this home this year trading the sea view for private pool and fewer evening bugs. It was a good trade off, and the short walk or cycle to the beach via the short-cut meant the sea was never far away.

We had a magical day on a deck boat rented from Port Sanibel Marina where we saw Dolphins up close, walked our favourite beach at south Cayo Costa and lunched at Cabbage Key. McCarthey's Marina on Captiva was great for Dolphin spotting and Manatees, and the sun set at Bowman's Beach was always spectacular. Doc Ford's is still our favourite restaurant with Yucatan Shrimp being my favourite dish. The ribs, burgers and paella are also good! Having the four bicycles was such a bonus. The cycle path down alligator alley before Rabbit Road, up to Doc Ford's then on to J.N. "Ding Darling" was a nice short ride, but our favourite ride was along West Gulf Drive to Tarpon Road, then up Tarpon Road to Baileys Tract and back.

We have been so lucky to experience paradise on Sanibel Island twice in as many years. Is it too much to want to come back for for? !!

Owner's Response: Dear Graeme,
Thank you for taking the time in giving us such a wonderful and descriptive review. Sanibel is a very special place and I'm glad our property exceeded your expectations. Hope to have you back again. The last time we biked to Ding Darling we witnessed at least 40 Roseate Spoonbills wading in the water. Captured some lovely photos.
Thanks again,
Stan and Melinda

Sanibel home - Serene, tranquil, private well maintained house with caged heated pool and lanai

  • 5 of 5
We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful, comfortable and lovingly maintained home in Sanibel this May 2014. First impressions were great - loved the private location close to the beach. Stepping out onto the lanai was just perfect - The lovely trees and foliage provided privacy and we enjoyed spending time there while drinking coffee in the mornings and sipping wine in the evenings. The pool was great. Perfect temperature and we used it every day. Bikes were provided and we took a few bike rides in the mornings. The beach was lovely - clean and private. Outdoor shower great for returning from beach and washing the sand off. Photos provided were accurate. Beds were comfortable - no problem sleeping. Everything we needed was there. We'd recommend dinner at Doc Fords, which was close by, and the oysters at the Fish House. Also, walking along the beach at sunset and looking for shells. Saw turtles on our bike rides. My husband went kayaking with a nearby couple and had a great time.
Definitely recommend the place to my friends and relatives. Would like to come again next year. Hated to leave.

Key West Style Home Hideaway Court

  • 5 of 5
We loved our experience at your lovely home in Sanibel. It actually looked better than in the pictures on line. The kitchen was very well equipped, the house was clean and the beds were comfortable. There were plenty of linens and rugs. The pool and yard was maintained weekly and looked lovely. I loved the orchids, two were blooming! The outside grill needs to be checked and cleaned more often,we had to put out a fire in the drip pan. We road the bikes, walked to the beach(daily), visited "Ding" Darling Wildlife Refuge, The Shell Museum, loved The Mucky Duck restaurant and all the shops. We also went on a back water fishing tour. Caught out limit of red snapper! Enjoyed the Doc Ford books too. Attended the Congregational Church on Easter Sunday. Great service! Weather was perfect.
