Return to the glamour & romance of the Roaring 20’s when The Manor was built near the picturesque shores of Lake Macatawa (less than 10 miles from Saugatuck). This one-of-a-kind classic showhome is said to have been sought after by Al Capone as a summer retreat & has been enjoyed for generations by entertainers, socialites and Hollywood celebrities. Located less than a quarter mile from the prestigious South Shore Drive. Access to Lake Michigan beaches, marinas, shopping, restaurants, nature tours and nightlife are all within 10 minutes or less.
This 6000+ square foot designer show home features 5+ bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, 2 powder rooms; a recently updated gourmet kitchen with marble countertops, Viking commercial stove & Subzero refrigerator as well as a large Butler’s pantry with an additional refrigerator, sink, dishwasher and wet bar. A 1920’s style “Speakeasy” pub and Gentleman's Lounge are concealed in the lower level showcasing a 14’ mahogany bar with a 3 compartment sink, ice machine, additional dishwasher, fireplace, 55” flatscreen, and separate entry with steps that lead outdoors to a SpaTech deluxe hot tub and grilling area. Reception Room with fireplace, Parlor, Library, Tea Room, Wine Room, Exercise Room; Master Bedroom with 13’ ceilings & 2 bathrooms; and a large flagstone terrace are also highlights of the mansion.
Highly recommended for groups (we had 12 so some had to use blow up mattresses but there is plenty of space). We made great use of the bar/speakeasy downstairs. Ice machine was a big help. The house is in close proximity to Lake Macatawa and we took taxis to play golf and go to dinner in Saugatuck.
Definitely would go back with a big group for a weekend getaway.
The property manager was very attentive and helpful. They keep the house done very well. Clean and in great shape. Awesome outdoor space as well.
I cannot stress enough what a wonderful time was had by all at the mansion. The place is appointed beautifully with antiques and curios from the 1920's. We spent the first hour just walking around with our mouths agape. The rooms are large, the bedding sumptuous, and the amenities sublime. We enjoyed this house so much that we opted out of going out on the town either Friday or Saturday night, preferring to stay in and sip cocktails, lounge in the hot tub, and even play hide and seek in its multitude of rooms. While slightly off the beaten path, this place is a hidden gem close to beaches and Saugatuck (12-15 mins). Ideal for groups and gatherings as any event would be incredibly enhanced by its style and character (and don't even get me started on the Speakeasy- unreal!). We had no issues getting our security deposit back and management was very obliging and helpful.
The mansion completely exceeded all of our expectations. The rooms were large, the bedding sumptuous, and the amenities were over the top. The location is a bit off the beaten path, but it's still convenient to get to the beach (12 minute drive) and close to Saugatuck (15 mins). We loved the house so much and that we didn't go out Friday or Saturday night, preferring to stay in and sip cocktails, enjoy the hot tub, and play hide and seek in its multitude of rooms. Beautiful antiques and fun relics from the 1920s decorate the house. The backyard is spacious and perfect for a group gathering. And I won't even get into the fabulousness of the Speakeasy in the lower level- amazing! HIGHLY RECOMMEND !! (PS- No issues getting our security deposit back)
Slightly delayed review...
We booked this beautiful historic home for my husband's 40th bday celebration over Easter weekend. Dana was amazing to work with. Home was a perfect fit for us (2 families of 4 + 3 other couples). Everyone had their own room. Extremely spacious. Amazing pub/bar area downstairs where we spent majority of time. Hot tub, bikes & basketball hoop was enjoyed. We catered in food & had a murder mystery group (1920's theme to go with era of mansion) come in for the bday celebration. Home is located in Holland. Only 1 large TV downstairs, but forced the kids to explore & and disconnect from their gadgets. Didn't have views of the Lake, but was the perfect fit for the group of our size. No problem getting damage deposit back. I'd highly recommend. Thanks Dana!
I have always dreamed of living in a castle like this so to be able to stay for a weekend was amazing. I felt like I had gone back in time to the 1920's or something! We like to take an annual trip with a group of 6 couples and "The Manor" was one of the most fun times we have ever had. We all agreed there is something magical it. We traveled to the area to spend time Christmas shopping, cross country skiing and to experience all the good reviews we had heard about Saugatuck and Holland. Once we got to The Manor we hardly left!! :) The hot tub in the backyard is so peaceful and private. Cocktails in the pub, a comfy screening room with 100's of dvd's to choose from, cozy fireplace, wine cellar, gorgeous kitchen, whew. I never wanted to go back to work! Everything was very clean and the caretaker was very nice attending to all our needs. She even gave us a bottle of wine from the local vineyard. I definitely will recommend to friends and am hoping to arrange my family reunion there next summer. I also recommended it to my niece as a place she might want to have her wedding. I am sure it is beautiful in every season.
I organized a party of 12 women on a 5 night vacation to the estate. It's a beautiful place with many close attractions. We had a fantastic time enjoying the premise and it's surrounding areas. Unfortunately, when I returned home, I received a note from the property manager noting all the damage which they found was done to the house. This is an old house with many notably delicate and antique items in the home. What I would define as "wear and tear" per the lease, they defined as "broken". Be prepared to lose at least part of your deposit as they file for anything they find.....
Located near the towering white sand dunes on the shores of Lake Michigan and Lake Macatawa, the area offers world-class beaches, boating, antiquing, golf, live theater, nightclubs, great restaurants, and a huge variety of art galleries and artists.
