Opening up the house to let the sea breeze in......now thats a vacation......call me & lets put it together.... 'Welcome to our beach house.......Willow Beach'.
My husband Hank & I came to this area in 1998 and built our 'Willow Bay' home on the bay side in the Plantation....we have loved the area and made so many great friends down here that when this opportunity came up ...we jumped at it.
We are in the furniture business, so redoing the house was fun for me. So many of our friends & family come down to St. George now, we thought this would be a good home to buy.
Location!Location!Location! This beautiful home is a short beach walk from the jetty; it's a great place to view sunsets, fish, or both. Willow Beach is luxuriously furnished with everything you'll need for a memorable, carefree vacation. We hung out on the covered decks during the day and sat on the top open air deck at night to stargaze. This is a perfect place to cycle, swim, kayak, eat the freshest of seafood and just kick back and relax. The house is in tip top shape and both the owner and her on-island mgr. respond quickly to any questions or concerns guests may have. We would definitely come back and recommend this home to others.
We recently stayed in this rental. We had 11 guest in the home. I can't say enough about the rental. Great kitchen, bathrooms, mattresses, view and easy beach accessibility!! The owners have gone out of their way to make this house a comfortable beach home for their guests. The a/c actually keeps the house comfortable, we have had that problem with previous rentals! The kitchen had every gadget you could possibly need. All in all, we loved the place and would definitely rent again!!!
You really hate to write a great review because selfishly you want to keep this house, its owner Cathy, its caretaker, Jim and even the island, all to yourself. We discovered beach house vacationing years ago and have always loved the Gulf. We found St George's Island purely by Providential happenstance but have fallen in love with it. We are home. From my buddy at Island Outfitters to Doug's Fish Trailer and the place where I buy bags of oysters, (I simply must draw the line on this secret) I have found everyone to be so welcoming and kind. The house is amazing with a big kitchen and lots of places to lounge and play. The beach offers great fishing, (partly due to the fact that neighbors on each side avoid lines and stay out of the way) with everything from Pompano to Mackerel making its way to the dinner table several nights. If you like some adventure, do some night fishing. We will leave it at that. We kayaked with Dolphins, played lots of cornhole, built big castles, (my ten year old swam with a sea turtle and she will never forget it) and laughed til our sides hurt all the while enjoying this beautiful home and beach. Thanks Cathy.
We've been home over two weeks and are still wishing we were back on St. George Island at the Willow Beach house! The house was beautiful, just as described. We cooked almost every night and the kitchen had everything we needed and more. We had 12 adults (6 of them were 25 and under) and there was more than enough room for everyone. The beach was amazing and the water was so warm. We saw dolphins every day, sometimes 2 or 3 times in the same day. We would definitely recommend this house to anyone wanting a quiet, family beach vacation. This was our second trip to St. George Island and we hope to make it back again at some point in the future. The owners were so helpful and easy to work with. It made our trip so much more enjoyable. Thank you!!!
After a long trip from Arkansas, we finally get to Willow Beach. Needless to say, it was everything we were hoping for and more. 6 adults and 4 kids had PLENTY of room to play and hang out. The kitchen was absolutely incredible, with a pantry of gadgets that any cook would love. The first night we were there, ALL 10 of us had a party in the kitchen cooking and dancing together. It was one of my favorite things from the whole trip. The beach is beautiful. I have never seen the water so clear and calm. The 4 kids snorkeled everyday and found all kinds of sea creatures! We found a few starfish, electric rays, a sea horse, and tons of huge crabs. The fish that seem to live around the house, have no problems swimming right up to you and not to mention the DOLPHINS! They are incredible and they get so close. We had one swim up to about 3 feet from the shore. The kids (and adults) loved it!! We met some neighbors that live down there a lot of the time, Mr. Ben, and his family invited all of the kids to fish with them. It was the sweetest thing. Such a great community and beautiful area!!
Cathy and Hank, thank you for sharing your home with our family! We had a blast and you could not have been better with all of our silly questions, before, during, and after! We are so excited to come back next year!! Thanks again!!!
We just spent the most relaxing week in Florida with my in-laws. Usually we vacation with the kids, but decided to do just adults this time. We had a great time and Willow Beach was the perfect house! We all had our own bedrooms and bathrooms. The kitchen was large and well stocked, with lots of bar stools to enjoy during "happy hour". We had so much fun cooking and grilling out, that we never made it into town to eat out as planned. This house surely feels like "home away from home". I would highly recommend for girls weekend, family reunions, or an "adult only" vacation such as ours. We arrived in late March when the weather can be "iffy" but lucked out and had a whole week of sunshine. I think it would be awesome to come back and visit during the summer sometime. Thanks Cathy for sharing your home with us so that we could make some wonderful memories.
The beauty of Willow Beach is the quietness of the location and the 'laid back' philosophy of the people. Very close to Sikes Cut at the west end of the Plantation, Willow Beach sits on a private cu-de-sac. According to my guests, the fastest thing they see while staying at my house are the dolphins frolicing in the waves. Swimming, sunning, surf fishing, walking 4 minutes down the beach to Sikes Cut and doing some serious fishing off the rocks,or just sitting under an umbrella watching the world go by is heaven.
This is 'Old Florida', we still have moss in the oak trees, no glass & chrome highrises, no long lines for terrific restaurants, no hustle & bustle. Just wonderful gentile folks, great cooks (our restaurants are awesome)and great weather!
Apalachicola is a really quaint old town, the third oldest town in Florida, with a rich history of cotton shipping, involvement in the Civil War and being the place where the first ice machine was invented when trying to battle malaria in the 1900's. Touring old antibellum homes and wonderful antiquing are a few of the ways to spend a leisurely day. There is alot to do or nothing to do....your choice....its a place to come and enjoy the natural wonders of the ocean and bay, to be outside and discover another world,to get to become closer to your family, without a lot of distractions, to get married, (we have had that alot at Willow Beach), to share a unique experience with friends...to eat oysters & drink beer & laugh till your side hurt, to get up at dawn and walk the beach, or sleep till noon, because you will not hear sirens, or cars. A vacation at Willow beach is exactly how you want it to be. My home is awesome, just hanging out there is a major treat.....the chefs kitchen is amazing, Paula Deen would love it, the bedrooms are big and spaciaous....the view form all three decks is asounding, its all a great time.
I hope you will consider Willow beach for your next vacation. You will not be disappointed.
