This cute guest unit is located right on Silver Lake which connects to Kalamazoo Lake and goes out to Lake Michigan. Enjoy the view from your deck or the dock. It includes 2 Kayaks to enjoy the natural beauty of the lake and rivers. It also has an outdoor fire chimney for enjoying the evenings. The lake is great for watersports as well as fishing. The house is about 1.5 miles from downtown Saugatuck. Paddle down to the dingy dock where you can tie up and walk around town or call the Interurban and be picked up and dropped off for $1 if you don't feel like driving or walking.
Winter Activities: Snowmobiling, ice fishing and ice skating on the Lake are all fun in the Winter months.
Overall the stay was wonderful. Easy check-in, privacy, and secure premises for a vacation built for four. The slave was just big enough for the two couples. Seating in the common room could have been more cozy for rainy or cold days spent indoors. Updated appliances and ample cookware made mealtime easy. The jets in the bathroom were crusty :(, so we skipped a romantic bath. Outside was the hot tub. Upon closer inspection, that too was too dirty for our taste. The filter seemed to be lined with something unpleasant. We weren't there for the tubs. We came for the lovely view, kayaking, and breezy decks. All was wonderful. The garage wasn't open when we arrived, so we were slightly unclear on parking. Mostly, we enjoyed the early season quiet, bird watching (ample species) and access to our own amenities. Neighbors were a little loud at night according to the light sleepers in our crew, but we all wish to return.
I stayed at "The Frog" for two night with my three kids, ages 12, 17 and 20. The apartment was perfectly clean and well stocked with all the essentials. Although it is attached to a larger house that was rented to a big family party, we were impressed that heard no noise from the house -- the layout and soundproofing really maximized privacy. We loved the kayaks and hot tub. We also found the location to be very convenient to Saugatuck -- just far enough out of town to feel "away from it all." We definitely would consider a return visit.
"The Frog" was absolutely perfect! We loved our time there, and took advantage of all the property had to offer. The apartment itself is very clean and comfortable, with a full kitchen, sitting area, flat screen TV, wireless internet, full bath and two great sized bedrooms. We were able to enjoy fishing from the dock (brought our own poles), as well as Kayaking (provided by owners), and sitting in the hot tub. While we didn't meet the owners, they were wonderfully communicative and renting the place was very easy.
All in all, our time in Saugatuck was great! There is so much to do on a fall weekend (brewery tours, winery, apple orchards, shopping downtown, etc.). I would highly recommend a trip, esp. if you can stay at "The Frog"!
We had a great time staying here. This was a special trip with mother, daughter and grand-daughter. I (grandmother) wanted everything to be right for the trip and the owner was absolutely terrific to work with. The place was nicely furnished with up to date appliances and entertainment unit. The linens were great and the beds very comfortable. The unit was clean and well-cared for. I think the supplies on hand went above and beyond expectations. Board games, yard games, fold-up beach chairs and beach towels were provided. I highly recommend The Frog.
This apartment was just perfect for my mother and my partner to spend a few days in Western Michigan. It's close enough to Saugatuck to go to dinner, but far enough away to avoid the crowds. The apartment itself is simple enough, but very well appointed--the kitchen is exceptionally well-equipped, the linens are all great quality. There's wi-fi, cable TV and a stereo for music. The apartment has a small balcony with a view of the lake, and you are just steps away from the water. We all agreed we would definitely return.
Saugatuck and Douglas are located among the towering white sand dunes on the shores of Lake Michigan and the Kalamazoo River. The area offers world-class beaches, boating, antiquing, golf, live theater, nightclubs, great restaurants, and a huge variety of art galleries and artists.
