I'm writing to tell you how disappointed we are in our single evening.
The unit was knowingly rented to us for a single night above a bachelorette party. The ladies were drunk, loud, playing music and singing all night. I had to go down and talk to them twice in the middle of the night at 2:00 and again at 3:00 am! I almost called the police.
It is an attic style tight 2 bedroom 1 bath unit above a large 3-4 bedroom multi-level space. You can not have the bathroom door open and walk between the rooms, it blocks the 3 foot hallway.
Located at the bottom of a steep driveway with only room for a single car to park either at the top or bottom of the driveway unless you choose to be boxed in by other guests staying at the bottom unit. If your neighbor is not aware of your stay, you must park at the top of a steep hill and walk back and forth to your car,
The toilet is broken. The flapper does not close correctly, so the water tank does not fill properly, and we had to take off the tank cover and manually fix it each time we flushed!
The fan in the kitchen has a low grade hum and can not be used while you are in the living room.
The shower door is broken, and the shower water pressure leaves much to be desired.
The WiFi has little to no bandwidth. Our cell phones had more bars.
No kayak, hot tub, or deck time could be enjoyed as the bachelorettes occupied them all.
For a full price high season rate, we had a terrible night with little rest. This was far from a positive experience.
I shared this review with Dana, the owner or agent, and requested a partial refund. I was declined and offered a free night at another time. Seriously? No thank you.
There are lots of other wonderful charming waterfront locations in Saugatuck, you are wise to go back to your search results and find them.
Owner's Response: Brain needed a last minute 1 night stay. This property was available for just one night so, I rented it to him. I thought I was doing him a favor as I normally have a 2 night minimum. Brian did not contact us with any of these concerns when he was staying at the apartment. Myself and a maintenance man are on call 24 hours a day and we strive to ensure that everyone has a relaxing, enjoyable stay. He did not contact me until after he had left when he tried to “blackmail” me for a refund saying he would write a bad review if he did not get one.
I had renters immediately before and after Brian neither of whom complained about any of the things Brian said were wrong. I still sent the maintenance man over after I heard from Brian. The maintenance man found the toilet, fan, internet, shower and shower door all working properly.
Brian’s description of the apartment being located over the house is also misleading. In fact the apartment is located next to the house. They share only one partial common wall. This wall is the outside wall of the stairway to the apartment. The apartment also has tightly closing Andersen windows and separate central air.
Parking, as stated in the listing for this property, is located at the top of the driveway. This is to make sure no one is blocked in.
There is a separate fire pit, dock, deck, grill and 2 kayaks for this unit. There is also an association beach which is located 2 houses away that is available.
This property has been booked almost solidly this summer and this is our first complaint. In fact, 3 groups of renters this summer rented it for a second time this summer. We work daily to ensure everyone has an enjoyable stay.
