The closest unofficial beach is in front of the Capitol Building in about 10-15 walking minutes from almost anywhere in Old San Juan. Old San Juan has a bus station from where you can go to Plaza Las Americas, the biggest mall in the Caribbean, to the Convention Center, as well as to Condado and Isla Verde, the other two main tourist spots along the coast of San Juan. This apartment was perfect for our group of 8. We loved the patio, and the location was perfect- very close to major historic sites like El Morro and Casa Blanca and near some really good restaurants. Irma was extremely helpful!
This property is even more impressive than the photos. We very much enjoyed our 4 day stay here in Old San Juan. We stayed in this property as a group of 4 and had more than enough space. The apartment was clean, and provided the best space for our exploring. We used the back terrace almost every day. The managers of the property were very attentive, we arranged a late check in and Irma was there waiting to let us in past mid-night. We also had some issues with the wireless internet working and they immediately attempted to fix the issue, when it became obvious the issue needed to be resolved by a technician they were very apologetic and even refunded a portion of our stay because we didn't have internet/apple TV. We used wireless at various restaurants so it really didn't affect my view on this property at all, we were there to vacation not work. We were in the heart of Old San Juan, on one of the nicest streets, very close to amenities and overall enjoyed the walkable city and this apartment. I would stay here again, and would also recommend this space to anyone looking for a great place to stay in Old San Juan. The only note, this is not a suitable portion of the city for a rental vehicle. We had booked one and decided to cancel it once we got to this location and saw how narrow/busy the streets were. Old San Juan is 100% walkable if you are healthy and fit. If you need a car to get around taxi's are a plenty.
The unit was absolutely breathtaking. It far exceeded our expectations. The entire unit was easily cooled with the AC units and made sight seeing so much more enjoyable. We will definitely be trying to stay there again the next time we come to San Juan.
We came to Old San Jaun for my daughters "destination wedding" at El Convento".
I'll start with the negative (2 stars) so I can end with the positive. First impressions are important with this type of business and my first impression was not favorable. The furtuniture in the living room was stained and dirty and reminded me more of a boys college dorm room at best. I didn't feel comfortable sitting down on any of it. From there we found hair on the sheets and enough dust on the refridgerator that I could easily write in it. All this suggested a lack of real cleaning so I wasn't too sure about the rest of the place; kithen, bathrooms, dishes etc. Having expressed all this to Irma from the management company, she did everything she could to make it right, buying new sheets for the beds, throw covers for the couches, and cleaning supplies so I could clean before we settled in. (Up to 4 stars now). I spent the first couple of hours of my vacation cleaning the bathrooms, the kitchen and dusting the furniture and woodwork. There is a lack of detail in this place which could easily be fixed. Examples are; the kitchen is only half equipped (one dish towel, no good sharp knives, minimal dishes/glasses), one shower has no place to put your shampoo, soap, razor, or wash cloth other than on the shower floor (a shower caddy is all it would need), and the outside deck could use more furniture. I'd also get rid of all the big cardboard boxes out there because it looks like a recycling drop off place. On the positive side...which is why it keeps the 4 stars rating. The location of the apartment is perfect for Old San Jaun exploring. The structure of the apartment is beautiful, with the big doors opening to the street, some beautiful wood work, the inside atrium (although it's empty) and the back outside deck are big plus's , and the amount of inside space available is awesome. It just needs a decorating upgrade, fresh paint, and some attention to small details that make for a more enjoyable stay and this place would be what travelers expect. Once these things are addressed I could easily give it 5 stars, maybe 6 !
Annett, We really enjoyed the apartment. It's nicely decorated and well equipped - even has books. And it does indeed have wonderful breezes right through. Vida Urbana was also great to do business with. We would recommend you to anyone wanting a carefree stay in Old San Juan. There are 2 restaurants we think you should add to your list: Cucina di Ivo and Toro Salao. Thanks, J & G
