A self-catering rental with 4 bedrooms in 1.5 acres of olive grove and pool.

A beautiful, recently restored, 500 year old house with 6 cone trulli available for summer rental and self-catering sleeping 9 plus 2 cots with superb views. The house is set in 1.5 acres of olive grove with fig and almond trees with a stunning private infinity swimming pool, BBQ and sun terraces. The accommodation includes 4 bedrooms (2 double rooms, 1 twin and 1 bunk bed), sitting room, playroom with single sofa bed, very well equipped kitchen / dining room with dishwasher and washing machine and bathroom with shower, loo and basin. There is another building next to the swimming pool with a games room and ensuite shower room with small bath. In addition, there are 2 cots, 2 high chairs, changing mats, stair gates, potties and toys.

The house is set up in the hills above the village of Casalini between the beautiful hill-top towns of Cisternino and Ostuni. The house is only 10km away from sandy beaches. There are shops and restaurants in Casalini which is 2km from the house.
About Victoria and Jonny Speers

Victoria and Jonny have 2 daughters, Lottie and Poppy aged 8 and 7. We live in London but go to Italy as much as work and school will allow us. Victoria studied Italian at University and worked and lived in Italy for a number of years and speaks Italian fluently.

Why Victoria and Jonny Speers chose Cisternino

We wanted to buy a house in Italy and after much research came across Puglia as a potential region. We came on holiday when Lottie was just 8 weeks old and after viewing 20 properties, we fell in love with Trullo Papavero due to its setting and the potential we saw in it. We spent a year refurbishing it and putting in the pool and then spent each year doing more and more to it and to the land to create our perfect holiday home.

What makes this house unique

The views are spectacular and it is in a very peaceful location. The grounds, the pool are all stunning and the house is spacious and cool even in the hot months. It can fit 2 families very comfortably and we have spent many mild evenings sitting on the terrace drinking wine and eating BBQ food with our friends!

The house is situated in the hills above the small village of Casalini in the Vale d'Itria in the heart of 'trulli' country. The nearest town is the very pretty hill-top town of Cisternino about 5 km away. Every Monday there is a lovely market in Cisternino and on Saturdays in Ostuni. 10km is the stunning Moorish town of Ostuni. Within a short drive is the other beautiful hill-top towns of Martina Franca and Ceglie Messapica. Lecce, the Florence of the South, is just an hour's drive away.

There is great mountain biking all around the area and you can hire mountain bikes locally and have guided tours.

The beautiful sandy beaches are only 10km drive away and the National Park of Torre Guaceto is just 30 minutes away - bird-watching, diving, snorkelling are all available here.

The 18 hole golf course of San Domenico is 25 minutes away. There is also a Zoo and amusement park in nearby Fasano (25 minutes away) and the stunning limestone caves of Grotte di Castellana are just 30 minutes away.

Puglia is renowned for its food and wine and there are numerous restaurants within a short drive.

Other Activities: Bird-watching in Torre Guaceto and site-seeing stunning local towns such as Ostuni and Lecce.

Payment is usually accepted in the quoted currency (British Pound) unless the currency and the amount is specifically agreed in advance with the owner / advertiser.

Notes

  • A deposit of 30% is required to confirm your booking with a completed booking form. The outstanding balance must be paid 2 months before your holiday. A security deposit of £300 is required before your holiday which will be returned within one week of your return subject to any deductions which may have been necessary.
    The rental fee includes all linen, towels as well as beach towels. A welcome pack is available at the cost of £40.
    It also includes water and electricity and an end of stay clean. Mid-week, bath mats, hand towels and tea towels are changed. For 2 week bookings, there will be a mid-stay full-clean with fresh linen and towels.
    Central heating will incur an additional charge and additional cleaning can be arranged at an additional fee.
    Babysitting can be arranged if required.

  • There is one bathroom in the main house with a shower, loo, basin and washing machine. There is another bathroom in the building next to the swimming pool with a small bath and shower and a separate shower cubicle, basin and loo.

  • There are 2 bedrooms with large doubles and plenty of storage including room fans which are off the sitting room. There is another bedroom next to the bathroom with 2 single beds which can be made into a double. A door from this bedroom leads into a courtyard with table, chairs and a parasol and a large fig tree. Up the stairs from the kitchen is a bedroom with bunk beds (suitable for children) with a door which leads out onto a roof terrace. Also up the stairs from the kitchen is a small playroom with a single sofa bed. 5 metres from the kitchen door and next to the swimming pool is another building (the lamia) which has been converted into a sitting room / games room and an ensuite bathroom with shower, small bath, basin and loo.

Notes: Although the house is attached to another house, it is attached at the back of the house and therefore cannot be seen from the house or grounds. The owners of the attached house only use it for a few weeks of the year. We have young children and so have ensured that the house and land is safe for young children although we would recommend that you are vigilant as there are large drops around the swimming pool. We can also provide 2 cots, 2 high chairs, changing mat, potty, bottle warmer, sterilizer, stair gates and there are toys and books suitable for young children. There is also a swing and slide for young children in the garden. The infinity swimming pool is 10 metres long and 5 metres wide at its widest. It starts at 1 metre deep and goes to 2 metres deep. The water flows over a wall into a waterfall and falls into a crescent shaped 'baby' pool 2 metres below which is just 0.5 metres deep. There are plenty of sun terraces with parasols and seating. There is free WiFi in the house
