The apartment has 2 bedrooms – one larger, one smaller one. The larger one has a big closet, a queen size bed and an armchair. The smaller one has a queen bed as well. The living room has a pull out sofa bed that can sleep up to 2, HDTV with cable and a side table. The kitchen is large featuring all the appliances as well as dining table with chairs. The apartment also comes with free high speed wireless Internet access. The kitchenette is just the right size and has a stove with oven, pots and pans and a microwave. Considering the location and the amenities, Grand Central Suite is one of the best apartments in our database in terms of value for money. We hope to see you in New York!
Grand Central Suite A is located on the 4TH floor of a beautiful building. The building is on a great block right in the middle of midtown New York City, just couple blocks from the world-famous Museum of Modern Art – one of New York’s most famous landmarks. The apartment is located between 2nd Avenue and 3rd Avenue. The apartment is quiet and peaceful but there are plenty of things to do right in your neighbourhood. There are about 20 different restaurants and bars on the next block – Chinese, Indian, Italian, Mexican, Japanese – are only several cuisines available within a 3 minute walk from the apartment. You will be amazed by how many New Yorkers love to sit at the tables outside these restaurants after a day at work. Staying in this apartment will give you a truly New York experience. You will also be close to Columbus Circle, Central Park and the famous Bloomingdale’s department store. Times Square is just a 15 minute walk away (or one subway stop away), the Empire State building is a 20 minute walk away (or 2 subway stops).
On the block where the apartment is situated and the next block you can find anything and everything, you literally don’t have to leave the block if you don’t want to. Not only are there numerous restaurants and bars, some names of which are “Solera Restaurant and Tapas bar”, “Obao Noodle and BBQ”, “Baluchi’s Indian Food” (one of the best Indian restaurants in the city), “La Gioconda Italian restaurant”, “Peking Duck House”, bars “Black Finn” and “T.G. Witney’s”; you also have other little shops that will make your stay extremely comfortable, for example “Cellular Circle” where you can purchase a pay-as-you-go Sim-card if you want to use your phone during your stay in the US and not pay for the roaming. There is also safe and secure parking on the next block for $26 per day which is not expensive for New York.
If you are looking to try a new cuisine you might want to check out of these restaurants: “Al Bustan” Lebanese restaurant (53rd Street between 1st and 2nd Avenues), “Barros Luca” Chilean cuisine (52nd Street between 1st and 2nd Avenues), or “Gulluoglu” Turkish cafe (corner of 52nd Street and 2nd Avenue). If you are looking for the best breakfast place one of those will be the “Brasserie” or “Europa Cafe” on 53rd Street between Park and Lexington Avenues or “Pret-a-Manger” on the corner of 54th Street and Lexington Avenue. If you like smoothies, the best place in New York is definitely “Jamba Juice” situated on Lexington Avenue between 52nd and 53rd Streets, they make the smoothie in front of you with the freshest fruit, and you can add a boost (like immunity or energy supplement) or a wheatgrass shot to it to make it even healthier!
On the corner of 53rd Street and 2nd Avenue one can find even more restaurants and bars, there is also a Walgreens pharmacy where you can buy pretty much anything that you might need (including food). All the pharmacies in the US sell a lot of different foods, cosmetics, household supplies. Usually pharmacies are like miniature supermarkets with a prescription counter. On the other corner (53rd and 2nd) you have another pharmacy – “Duane Reade” – this is the biggest pharmacy chain in the city of New York.
You have several banks around the apartment, so you can withdraw or exchange the money in any of them: Citibank on 53rd Street between Park and Lexington Avenues, TD Bank on the corner of 53rd Street and 3rd Avenue, Capital One on the corner of 52nd Street and 3rd Avenue and Chase Bank on 2nd Avenue between 53rd and 52nd Streets.
If you like to cook your food, you will love this location – it has several supermarkets right in the immediate area (which is a luxury for New York): “Food Emporium” on 2nd Avenue between 52nd and 51st Streets, “D’Agostino” on 1st Avenue between 53rd and 54th Avenues. You also have several amazing New York style, small, specialized stores on 1st Avenue between 52nd and 51st Streets, like “Ideal Cheese Shop” which has a variety of cheeses, olive oils, pastas, cured meats and breads; and a fresh seafood store right next door.
There is an inexpensive laundromat on 1st Avenue between 53rd and 53nd Streets (they only charge 80 cents per pound). And if you like to exercise during your vacation or business trip, you can use 24 Hour Fitness on 53rd Street between Lexington and 3rd Avenues.
The Port Authority bus terminal is about 20 minutes by foot from the apartment – you can catch a bus from the airport right there at any time. You will probably prefer to catch one of New York’s inexpensive yellow cabs from the bus terminal to the apartment if you have a lot of bags. The ride should cost you about $5-10 depending on traffic. So basically, you do not need a metro card when staying at this location – just walk, enjoy the weather, views and shopping.
The apartment is conveniently located by 3 different subway lines – E, M, 6 – all going to different places in the city, so you will have the easiest commute from there to anywhere! Your subway station is also like a work of art – you have a waterfall at the entrance! The entrance to subway is on 53rd Street and 3rd Avenue, as well as on 53rd Street and Lexington Avenue (main entrance with waterfall).
